You can cycle thru sound settings by Holding Down Play+Volume Down Button for 3secs. And you can also activate the drum beating option by quickly double tapping the back side section near the control cover.

@@darekm6859 Xb30: 2x25W rated drivers, XB31: 2x16W rated drivers. Xb30: 7,2V 4200mah battery Xb31: 7,2V 2700mah battery The Xb31 distorts at max Volume much more than the 30. I own 2xXb31 and wanna switch it to 2x Xb30. The Xb32 has 2xunrated drivers and a 7,4V 2700mah battery. The Bluetooth range got shortened from 30 to 10m.

So i work underground and was operating a rockbreaker 2 yrs ago. I Used a xb31 everyday until I lost it underground when I had to cover a shift being the only licenced haul truck operator for a specific unit. Speaker fell out of my bag on a friday and i didnt realize until I got to surface. Today unexpectedly I found the speaker. Looks like it was grazed by a tire. Was rusty around the ports. Turned on with 70% battery left. And the ambient lights all worked. Sound quality lost about 10-15% but just on high bass sounds and only tried it when my phone that was streaming was low on battery. But im still amazed

exactly the same sound? Strange! Someone wrote the xb30 sounds mutch clearer not so muffled! Even trough the video the xb30 sound more refined detailed.

How is the directivity of the speaker? Because when you turn the xb30 slightly of axis you already hear the treble dissapear. Is this the same on the xb31?

MetroIsHere YT I think I'll admit its surpassed charge 3 in several ways, it sounds so much more like a mini stereo then charge 3, and that heavens for the new body!!! The only thing keeping the charge 3 even remotely close to the 31s performance is its bass it still seems the bit more boomy than a 31

I got a Sony xb30 but was kinda disappointed with the sound at medium to low volume listening, it just sounds good if I turn the volume up, for me it sounds muffled and muddy, I think I will keep my bose SoundLink Color better and although it has less bass it has better vocals and clarity, I hope the xb31 has improved the sound with its live sound mode

: I don't care for the lights on either speaker so I'll keep my Sony SRS-XB3 (which I bought January 2017 for $120 Canadian). It's the perfect size to carry around. I got a wine case that's shaped like a tiny guitar case that holds both speaker and charger perfectly. My XB3 never decreases in volume when the battery hits a certain percentage level like both the XB30 & XB31 and it still sounds great !!!

Definitely xb31. I own both. The xB has WAY more bass but the jbl has just the slightest better highs and mids. In MY opinion it's not worth it . Get xB 31

And so many features and personal app for adjusting just about everything for the speaker and battery and durability! This thing has it all, of charge 3 didn't exist this would be my new only favorite mid sized speaker but its tied!with charge 3 in bbn my book

Jack Konieczny mmmm... I wouldn't say better but I like its sound ambience a little more then charge 3, but and normal listening levels charge still has more bass. But the app for the 31 works flawlessly with my phone, so tweaking the sound and lights is easy as heck! If u picked it over the charge u wouldn't be making a bad choice. u cant really go wrong either way

Ramy Elmorsy I referring to my personality favorites lol, I did a mini sound battle with them yesterday and the charge still held it's own for being almost 2 years old ! It still handles bass well compared to the 31 mainly do to the twin radiators, But I love everything going on with the 31 including the stereo separation thanks to the driver placement! Definitely seems like it gets a little louder then the charge 3. I will agree that the 31 is the total package when it comes to mid sized speakers, especially the app EQ actually impacting the sound! U could say that a little Nostalgia for being there since the 1st charge is what's keeping me from naming the 31 my Favorite above all else.🤣 but since I say I have 2 favorites I will say the 31 is probably my 1st of the 2 favorites lol😆

Have the XB40 and its banging..

I personally Like an exposed bass radiator like the JBL Bluetooth speakers.But the XB31 is still no slouch.I also want a Battery indicator light rather than voice prompts

It doeant make any difference sound wise whether or not you can see the passive radiator they arent there to produce sound the increase useable airspace in the speaker which allows the speakers to move more causing better bass

I hate fabric speaker grills - for people interested in this speaker (xb31), I will just say purchase the XB30 - right now the price difference between the two is $58.00. Not worth paying that much extra for a very similar sound. With the savings, purchase a UE Wonderboom along with the XB30.

I bought a refurbished xb30 about a year ago for $75 and I love it. I was hoping Sony would get rid of the annoying reminder to charge your device when you hit 20% battery and let you keep playing music at a higher volume. I don't why they don't at least give you the option to turn that off.

Micheal Hall It's probably the default tuning. You can get great highs, mids and treble on the XB30 if you adjust the speaker, your phone and/or your app's equalizer.

the JBL, the only speaker with treble in this comparison.

I compared the XB30 against the XB31(without livesound mode), the sound is nearly the same, i turned extrabass off....treble +6 and bass to the maximum on both speakers and there is no big sound difference. ExtraBass i only activate on high loudness. But i hate this rubber case of the XB30 and guys believe me...after some time this rubber will be like a wet candystick. Overall i got the XB31 for 95€ and for this price it's the better choice. (I sold my XB30 for 89€) micro usb charging (no extra cable), waterproof, nicer design and material of the case ExtraBass can be switched on and off at the XB31 by pressing (Volume -) and (Play) for 3 seconds, Green LED is Standard and White LED is ExtraBass

I know i'm a little late. The Xb31 has 32Watts. The Xb30 has 50Watts. The Xb32's drivers are unrated, but since it has the same battery (2700mah), and battery life, I would also expect 2x16W The Xb30 has also an 50% bigger battery (7,2V 4200mah).

My xb 30 is 1 year old and still has that great bass

I owned the XB30 and prior one. I do like the XB31 as he stated in video, it’s a bit more refined in all areas. I like the cloth over rubber, the clearer lights, and most importantly being able to charge with USB... And the app is cumbersome, but I guess it works for now

I bought a used xb30. It looks better than xb31 in my opinion. The shape and the lights. I don't like the individualized led look of the lights on the xb31. I also like the rubberized rounded shape. _note_ - the xb30 I got used for $50 came with one of the speakers problematic. If you have an xb30 and notice static or of of the speakers doesn't play, this is a common problem. The left speaker often fails. However there is a youtube video which shows you how to fix this. It cost me about $20 and a half an hour.
