    i have a 2018 BDP S1500, it often freeze on boot logo and i have to unplug then wait 30mins before plugging it again. even after i set it to default and initialize the player. this never happen on my 2014 model.

    It says it has the current firmware on my bx59 but it won't play 3d discs. Regular discs work fine. I know this player is old but it says it will play 3d disc. Please help. I know this is very old but I don't know what else to do

    Thank you Todd. Thanks to your helpfull advises now I have to buy a new DVD-BD player since updating the screen went black, the led kept flashing, and the next day when I tryed to restart it, it was bricked. UPDATE THE FIRMWARE AS SOON AS YOU ARE GOOD TO BUY A NEW SAMSUNG DVD-BD.

If you're referring on how to install Netflix app, it is not possible to add/install additional streaming content providers to the list that was included with the unit. However, new applications will be added via software update. To check if an update is available, please perform the following steps: - Press Home button on the supplied remote - Select [Setup] on the home menu - Select [ Network ] then press "OK" to update the player’s software via the network. By the way, your player has a built-in Netflix app. You can easily access this app by pressing the dedicated "NETFLIX" button on the supplied remote. Dave

    I have updated everything and when I select "netflix" I just get a black screen like it is thinking. amazon works and the internet works. Netflix is the only thing that doesn't. I was watching it on Thursday morning and it was fine. Came back in the afternoon to watch during lunch and it is doing this now. Netflix is working on all other devices. It just shows a black screen on my television. :-( Hubby upset because he wants to watch his movies in surround sound.... Please advise... thanks!

    My BDP-360 says its updated but refuses to play certain disc like my new Blu-Ray Alterbridge-Live at the Royal Albert Hall. (Xmas gift) I'm wondering if this has something to do with the country code?

    Hi I have a problem. I own a BDV-N790W/BDV-T79. When I start the dvd player shows up a message that says I need to make un update. So I follow your process and then shows up a message that says: Cannot communicate properly with DHCP server. I have tried everything and nothing works. My router's DHCP is enabled and still won't work. Please help me.

    I have the BDP-S3100 and when I try to update the firmware, it takes me to the Network Update screen but freezes there. I cannot select start, cancel or return to the home screen. I've tried multiple times and have to unplug the power to restart it. Any clues on how to fix this?

    +Ramon Hernandez Hi, please try the following steps: Initialize the player. - Press Home button on the remote, then go to Setup - Select [Resetting] and go to [Initialize Personal Information] Reset the player - Press Home button on the remote, then go to Setup - Select [Resetting] and go to [Reset to Factory Default Settings] I hope this helps, Dave

    Hi, help please. I have a BDVN9200 and when I go to software update it shows me the new version, hit ok and go to the update bar but it stays at 0% for about 30 seconds and then says “update failed, connect the usb memory containing the update files or connect to the network to retry”. I did try with the usb too and same message comes up. Please give me a light here.

    I have the blue Ray model S3200 and It is connected to my WiFi but when you go into internet settings it shows that the internet access has failed. I thought maybe it might need an update but when I went to update it said connection status cannot be confirmed, cannot communicate with server. Or it says that the device is not connected the network. This happens a lot. What do I do

    I guess that is my point. I checked and there isn't a recent update. The latest is from 2011. There are Netflix app features missing that I have received on my newer Sony Blu-Ray player. If you can provide feedback to your technical team that would be great.

    I have a BDP-S3200 player. I try to update the unit by following all instructions. Every time I hit the enter button for the final start, the unit stays on for a few seconds then shuts down. I leave it for 30 minutes but it does not restart or update?

    The blue ray player says it is connected to my wireless internet connection but when I attempt to update it takes over an hour then times out. Without the update I cannot access any online features. I'm a bit frustrated. What do I do?

    Suddenly I can't play Pandora anymore through my bluRay 3100. "does not support audio codec" What changed? How can I fix it? Pandora comes through sometimes, but it locks up and gives me the codec message. Pandora does play fine on my ipad, Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Glynnis Ballou Please try to reset the player to the factory default settings. Follow the steps below then try accessing pandora again. 1. Reset the unit to Factory Default Settings. SETUP > Resetting > Reset to factory default setting > All Settings 2. Refresh Internet Content Setup > Resetting > Initialize Personal Information. 3. Go to VIDEO > Internet video. Thanks, >Joffrey

    ***** Thanks, Joffrey. I got pretty much the same result as every other solution. After a lengthy connecton to Pandora, I get maybe one song before the program freezes, finally resulting in the "device does not support current audio codec" And then maybe part of another song plays (5-10 mintues goes by between songs). Any other suggestions? We have no problem with Netflix coming through, so the internet connection seems okay.

    Hi there. I have the same issue, My "check internet settings" says "OK" next to both the wireless connection and internet access. However, I am still getting the error message "Connection status cannot be confirmed. Cannot communicate with server. Please try again later." when I try to access Network Update. I have two of these units, and one has no problems with this update process and the other keeps doing this (I can't access KZread or Netflix becasue of it).

    I needed to connect my BD 350S player to my router with an ethernet (lan) cable instead of relying on a wireless connection. Then, it made the internet connections which showed up on the diagnostic screen and could be updated (although mine came through with "already updated" but at least it worked properly to do that.)

    My Sony BluRay BDV-E290 no longer plays any internet content. When I try to access Netflix, or Amazon or KZread, it shows the error message: "Connection status cannot be confirmed". My internet settings in the player show that I am connected to the Internet, and I can use the browser on the player just fine so I know the internet is not a problem. I tried resetting to factory settings, de-registering the product and that works. But once I turn off the unit, the problem returns when I turn the player back on. I have no problems accessing Netflix and the other internet content on my PC. Is there any way to fix this? Thank you.

    I tried playing a "Last of the Mohicans" blu-Ray disc on my Sony BDP-s570 player and it told me the player needed to be updated. I followed the steps in this video and my player just says it's already updated. The movie continues to not work. Please help.

    "This unit needs a software update in order to receive more new and exciting content" I GOT MINE TO WORK!! This is what I did: I signed on to my Amazon Prime Account, and I went to Amazon Instant Video Settings. I scrolled down to Registered Devices and unregistered my Sony Blu-Ray DVD Player. I also reset all my settings on my DVD Blu-Ray Player. I then turned off my Blu-Ray DVD Player, unhooked the network cable, power and all other cables from the player (you may not have to do this...). I waited for about 1 minute and connected everything. I turned on the player and tried to go back to Amazon again. This time, it installed the updated Amazon App (this probably needed to be installed because of the Sony update). Once it installed the app, you will have to re-register the player in Amazon. I hope this works for you guys... It worked for me...

    Sadly it doesn't work for me. I got the "updating internet content" with the three steps but at the end of it I *still* get "This unit needs a software update to..." I had to re-login to Netflix and that works fine but the Amazon Prime (Amazon Instant Video) still doesn't work.

    +MissAction Jackson Thank you. For me, as soon as I deregistered the bluray player from the Amazon account, I noticed on the Sony Bluray player Video section thath the Amazon app then reappeared and I was able to log-in. Thanks again

    Hi I have an issue with my Sony BDPS1100 Smart Blu-ray Disc player with KZread playback. It allows me to watch say two or three different Yourtube vids then tries to load the next in line and locks up.If you try to turn it off the screen goes off but the ON light stays ON on the player until you unplug it. Tried downloading the latest firmware but when doing so,it states,' you already have the latest edition'. WHAT GIVES!

    Please, I need help. The update screen crashes all the time when I try to do it (the screen that asks "Perform version update?"). As it was freezing everytime, I have also tried to do with the CD (recording the CD through a PC) and, unfortunately, in both ways (wifi connection and CD) it crashes the same. I am not able to press "ok" nor "cancel" it simply freezes.P.S.: I have tried one of your hints, to reset to factory default settings, and unfortunately it has not work :( I was very hopeful with this one. My device is BDP-S590, and it's trying to make the update to the most recent firmware (according to the screen that freezes the update is to M12.R.0510).

    Erika F since you are unable to update the software of this player.     ***** Hi! Thank you for your reply, the last procedure has taken me a while but I managed to do it. And I am truly sad to say that it did not work! The same problem. The internet connects perfectly, both automatic or manually. The problem is not the internet itself, the problem seem to be with the firmware. Just by pressing "Network update" it moves me to a screen asking if I want to perform version update. that's the problem - it is frozen. I am not able to press ok, nor able to move to "cancel" button. I have a very bad feeling about it... it feels like I am never going to be able to connect my BD ever again :'(

    Hi friends from SONY, I try to Network Update but it says: 1-Connection status cannot be confirmed. 2- Cannot communicate with server 3- Please try again later. It IS CONNECTED to the internet since I just saw a movie on CRACKLE. It is a SONY BDP-S3100. I tried to access You Tube and it says: This unit needs a software update in order to receive more new and exciting content. It is my second SONY BluRay in a week and it does the same!!!     I have a question. I can tell that my Netflix on my bluray player is not completely updated, but when I went to update it it said no update was needed.     I am having the problem wherein the message "This unit needs a software update in order to receive more new and exciting content" is displayed. I performed the update but in Amazon, it continues to appear and I cannot get rid of it nor can I play any Amazon movies. It just happened after I watched a program in my Watchlist.

    Exact same problem here. Updated just the other day and was watching Amazon Prime just last night. Today it popped up the video update thing and *BAM*. That stupid message pops up every time I try to access Amazon. Crackle and everything else seems to work fine and dandy.

    Mr Iczer I am having the exact same problem. THE EXACT, only I was forced to perform the update. I am livid. I hate running into problems like this. It makes me reluctant to perform updates at all. Totally messing with my positive Christmas attitude!

    I'm *also* having this problem. I have a Sony BDP-S7200 here in the UK and the firmware is "already updated" when I check. But when I try to run Amazon Instant Video I get "This unit needs a software update in order to receive more new and exciting content". My software version is M21.R.0156. My LINK Connection Status and Provisioning Server Connection Status are both "Succeeded". Help?

    Hello SonyListens. I very recently purchased the Sony BDP-S5500 multi region version (both bluray and DVD) from Amazon.co.uk. I live in Portugal. It used to play PAL and NTSC DVD's. However, I unfortunately did a firmware upgrade from the sony.com site via USB stick, but realize now it should have been from the sony.co.uk, and it now only plays NTSC format DVD's! After much research I have found out that probably the non-European (let's say American) version only supports NTSC. Here is my problem. The non-European and European firmware update files seem to have the same version and names etc, and hence the system software will not allow me now to re-install the European version because it insists everything is up to date ... but it is referring to the non-European version! Can you tell me how can the system be forced to reload the European firmware so that PAL and NTSC DVD's will once again be viewable?

    Sorry, but not impressed with your reply. This is a generic problem and can be answered by your support team. I do not have the time to do as you suggest. Will now endeavour to return product as it is so silly that that a company like Sony cannot simply have different file names for firmware files that should only be possible to be loaded into the correct machines in the correct countries e.g. FIRMWARE_EUROPEAN_ONLY! Crikey, what is the world coming to!

    Even it tells me newest version is on I can't watch youtube no more. There comes a sign on which stands something like that youtube ain't available no more because something about google.     Everything. I can't even access the main menu. I can't watch DVDs, BluRays, Netflix, KZread - NOTHING. The bluray does not work with my tv. I don't want and I won't buy a new one. I have already sent the unit to technical support, it came back with the same problem. I have everything from Sony - Home theare, TV, bluray player. It should work.

    Valeska Dorow Hi, to check if the Blu-ray player is up-to-date, please follow to these steps: Press Home button on your remote > Go To Setup > Select System settings then find System Information, in that option it will display the player’s software version. Regarding Netflix, the device should be on the Home screen before pressing Netflix button.     How about a firmware update that removes all of the video/music apps that I never use? At the very least, how about a firmware update that allows me, the end user, change how they're sorted? In order of: Most Used Last Used Alphabetically etc. Or how about allow the user to simply mark them as Favorites, so that they're always at the top of the list? Scrolling through 40 to 50 different apps everytime I use it is not enjoyable.

    Unable to complete network setup on my Sony wifi bluray player. Tells me the connection could not be confirmed, that communication with the server was interrupted and to try again later. I already reset the system and reregistered my Internet connection information. Have attempted multiple times and get no further than step 4/9 every time. Thank god playing movies has not been affected but unable to use any other available options. HELP.....

    I have a Sony BD that has the apps on it that you can watch Netflix and Hulu, among others. I been trying to update for a couple of months. It keeps saying "Connection status cannot be confirmed. Cannot communicate with server. Please try again later." I have unplugged and plugged it back in. I have used the wi/fi connection and then used the wire internet connection. I know I am connected to the internet, because Netflix and Amazon will play, Hulu will not play. Thank you.

    ***** The Model number is BDP-S3100. Huluplus, Crackle, and KZread, says: "The unit needs a software update in order to receive more new and exiting content". When I go to the Update it says "connecting to the network. Please wait.". Then it says: "Connection status cannot be confirmed. Cannot communicate with server. Please try again later." It has been doing this for a couple of months, maybe more, I lost track in trying. It will play Netflix, Amazon and get on Facebook.

    Yes, that model. There was no interruptions during the update. There is nowhere to select wireless now. It worked before the update was installed.

    I got this model until it stopped working on KZread (not Sony's fault :), no longer supported for KZread. Bought a BDPS5500 , nice, until I got a firmware update and now I have the problem that it stops working on KZread, error is every 10 minutes pop up and resets the bd player (Cannot open this application because it is too large. The application has been terminated) ANY solution???????????????? Until then I prefer watching KZread with my Chromecast, cannot use the Bluray player, It crashes every 10 minutes, done a factory reset more than three times and still got this problem.

    ARG. My update on the S590 failed, and it only allows me to retry, which again fails and brings me back to update failed notice. I cannot for the life of me get out of this feedback loop- I don't even care about the update anymore. Someone please help, how do I just get off this screen and get back to being able to play discs???     I have no idea why this wont let me watch KZread videos, the day before we got it worked perfectly, but the next day I wouldn't let me! Any clues.

    I had that happen to me today, I get the big words KZread and the "play" symbol over part of the word. I hit play...nothing. It worked yesterday. And Hulu has NEVER worked for me.

    If your model is too old to connect to the internet (mine is suppose to be able to as a 2010 model but only with a usb wireless adapter that I didn't want to buy) - I successfully updated mine today by finding the proper file for my model on esupport.sony.com and burning to a dvd disk - and my dvd player recognized it and updated The reason I had/wanted to do this is my old blu ray player wouldn't play a new dvd i rented from Netflix and there was noting wrong with the disk...now it plays just fine after updating my blu ray player....

    I should mention it is the bdp-s380 it will play some movies but not all of them now.

    digizilla164 is it movies that worked before or some newer movies? if its newer ones they might need to be connected to BDLive and if your not connected all the time to the internet it might be searching for a connection thats not there. all you have to do is find the BDLive section on the players menu screen and turn it off. other then that i have no clue.

    OK, Sony seems to be including old versions of software in their updates. I'm a novice but this is not the latest version of Netflix and you can't even make the audio and subtitle adjustments via the Sony Bluray remote like you can online or other devices. I thought Sony was top notch

    There is no network update option. I'm giving away all of my blu ray DVDs and throwing this player out. I've had it for 5 yrs and it only plays non blu ray discs. I'll purchase a plain old DVD player that I don't have to update. UGH!

    I don't understand dropping apps on devices after just a few years.. that's criminal. I've had youtube dropped.. & that's sad for me..

Google services, the service provider of the KZread app, posted an important notice on their official website on January 20, 2015, that Google will no longer support KZread apps on certain devices after April 20, 2015.     Sony BDP-S3100 . Miami Florida. KZread logo comes up and that's it. Everything works perfectly, except for youtube.

    Were there changes to the settings before this issue started? What is the current firmware version of your player? Make sure it is updated. -Vincent

    the update was set to update automatically. what ever the updates was that is the only changes.

    My sony blu ray S3200 will not come on, and I noticed that underneath the box it is very hot? Is this normal for it to over heat? Grrrrrrr :(

    Thanks for rendering my Blu Ray player useless, by refusing to issue updates to BBC iPlayer and not keeping it up to date. Cutting out older players may suit your pocket, but has put me off purchasing Sony products in future. My pocket isn't a bottomless pit.

    It's so frustrating when you're watching a film and the screen goes black and the player craps out on you. I've done the update procedure and it still happens. If I had known about this I never would have bought Blu-Ray. DVDs are reliable. Blu-rays are a total crap-shoot. Sometimes they work...sometimes they don't. I feel like I've wasted hundreds of dollars.
