    Thank you for this. I had a question I was trying to capture photos of my dog and at times it’s hard to get good ones so i’ll just try to snap as many as I can BUT I notice it’ll take forever to shoot it’ll do this thing where on the screen it shows a lot of green cubes and than take the photo almost a whole minute later and by that time my dog moved lol. Is there something I can change for that?

    Hi Arran. Left you a wee message on your Instagram, but just in case. Your videos about the a5100 have really helped me chose the camera and taught me a helluva lot! So thank you so much for that! Having a wee issue though thats frustrating the life out of me though and wondered if you had a fix or come across this. I'm shooting the photos in RAW on the camera, but when I transfer them across (through the Imaging Edge App) to my phone its saving them as a JPEG and I've no idea how to fix this. Spent the last few days (woohoo lockdown!) trying to find a fix. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. Cheers!

    You can plug HDMI from your camera to a capture card. And then connect that card to USB port on your PC to record the videos. Or use external screen if you want to monitor the footage as you shoot it on camera.

    any advice on how you can get good audio using this camera eg for recording covers of songs?

  • @ArronPrescott

    @ArronPrescott

    4 жыл бұрын

    If you're wanting to record your covers in with high quality audio I would use an audio interface and microphone hooked up to your pc/laptop. Then I would use the a5100 just for the video and sync them up afterwards. It might be worth experimenting with the camera audio first, but I don't think it will be good enough for song covers.

    Great video! Now that you’ve had the both a5100 & a6000. If you had to choose between the two, for the purposes of starting youtube, vlogs, b-rolls, and take some photos. Which one would you recommend?

    Great question! Personally, if the primary use is for video (vlogs, youtube etc) I would go for the a5100, while the video quality is practically the same I find the compact size and flip screen of the a5100 makes it a much better user experience. If it was solely for photography then I'd pick the a6000.

    Hi! My laptop has an HDMI port, do I still need a capture card? As I understand, capture card is for converting HDMI suff to USB so if you don't have HDMI port then you can connect it via USB, right?

  • @nickp4793

    Yes you need an HDMI to USB (or thunderbolt if Mac) to capture live video from any camera for streaming or recording purposes directly to your computer. The HDMI port on your computer can't accept video from any camera.

    Hi Arron, I recently purchased the a5100, I love it, but during a recent video session, a red light at the bottom side of the camera began blinking 3 long blinks then 7 short ones, repeating over and over again in that sequence. I couldn't turn the camera on and couldn't charge it. The only solution was to remove the battery and then put it back in. The camera then worked fine again. I haven't been able to find the cause of this or what it exactly is. It's some sort of error and the light blinking/flashing is called the "access lamp". Can you tell me what this is and what causes it? Do I need to worry that my camera is defective? Thanks for your help and your channel has been very helpful!! Michael

    Unfortunately the overheating is a common issue, for the battery it may be helped by buying a replacement. For your lens issue try going to 'Custom Settings' on the main menu then on tab 3 try enabling 'Release w/o Lens' I've had a similar issue before and that fixed it.
