Fuck parts, from now on I'll just buy tools 😂😂
As an Audi tech myself, I did buy a couple of foams myself, and as soon as they hit the toolbox I started using them. I didn’t buy the whole set because some tools I already had. However these tools are great quality and cannot be beat for the price or organization you get with them. For any upcoming Technician I certainly recommend you buy some foams or this set before getting in debt with your local tool truck, because like always these aren’t the only tools you’ll need. Don’t hesitate “your tools are a reflection of your work.”
I've been following your channel for a good minute now Charles. I am really glad you posted this up and will be adding this tool box/configuration to my collection. Such a convenient way to get just about everything you need all at once. Thank you for everything that you do for us!
It would be EXTREMELY difficult to sneak that one past the wife, covert tool arrival style. "Hey, what was under that tarp that you rolled into the garage?" 'Flowers for you, honey..'

When i ordered mine a semi with a trailer attached came to deliver it in a small ass neighborhood. I know that feeling of trying to hide something 😂
So beautiful, brings a tear to my eyes
This looks like a great deal, especially for $5,500. It seems to have just about everything covered minus your power tools and impact accessories. My only complaint is all the ratchets and breaker bars are pretty short.
I love your reviews. Sonic Tools, it's growing on me. I love their foam organizers
Man, i really enjoy tool box review videos like this one. It gives me ideas and inspiration on how to organize my tool box at home. Please keep the content coming. Love the channel, man. =)
I'd LOVE this setup!
love this box i work an vw ,audi, mercedes and bmw has just about everything you need
Those organization trays make me jealous.... I need to organize my box. If I was starting from scratch I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
Man you guys are fast LOL I love it! Also pay attention in the next new days. I will be announcing a HUGE tool giveaway! AKA That S10 box is going home with one of you guys

Sonic Tools make me wish I didn't already have a decently comprehensive set. Pretty great deal, especially considering the organization.
Cool Box. Thanks for the video.
That's a great tool kit, would love that.
awesome video Charles
Well put together tool set,
Seems like a good setup for VWs man... I've never worked with sonic tools personally but it seems as though they are pretty good and a lot of people like the... Thanks for sharing man...

I would love to have a box like this for home use!
I don't think I've seen a Sonic setup that I didn't like. You'd think other car manufacturers would follow suit. Thanks for the tour and the introduction to this kit.👍👍👍

Glad to do it. I wish that techs in the US got something like this as a minimum
That's cool. I was just thinking of ways to keep the engine clean when doing your services without damaging the paint
It's so beautiful.....
i recently started working in a Porsche performance shop, want this set so bad
bad ass tool box
This is a great video HM; and I really love how organized the layout of the box looks. But.....all that foam cuts the capacity of the drawer practically in half! But it sure is nice to look at!

That doesn't really matter as the box is catered towards Tools needed specifically for VW/Audi techs. The box contains what they will need to work on those cars.
Awesome setup with a nice assortment of tools for 5500

1:50 don't you just hate when your socket drawer doesn't open up all the way :-/
I know it would be a good chunk of change but it would be a awesome starting set.
I have seen some KZread videos on these tool sets. How are they? How is the quality? I'm a new technician and can't afford snap on. Just trying to get a feel on these or other decent starter sets.
Charles I think I'm going to have to report this video... for pornography content.

That’s really cool. I do hate the plier handles and the ratchets area little bulky
Simply wow 😳 I'll have to see if this sonic set is available in the U.K.
muy buenas herramientas
Can I get a set like this build for a HONDA tech ??? Anyone know cuz I don’t see anything of the sort on the website
This being your most recent vidjayhoe, I have an amateur question. What is a butterfly wrench and what fastener do butterfly wrenches use?
That is sick! >.
Thanks boss!! Does Sonic sponsor you or your channel?
I don't have the space for such a tool box, but I WANT ONE!
Charles, do you know if you can still get this set? I have recently been thinking about becoming a vw tech and have a job offer on the table. I went to the link that is posted and was given an error message. Thanks for any help you may be giving me and any time.
is there any tool carts set up for Volvo technicians
That is a very sweet deal I'm not an auto mechanic but it's pretty cool my Kobalt tool box came with padding like that question I got what about shipping is it free shipping if you buy one or you pay regular shipping
Dang it! I sat down to relax after taking a shower, and decided to watch this video. Now, I've got to go change my pants again! Thanks Humble Mechanic.

No Pozidrive screw drivers?
Holy crap that's expensive. I want one.
Ugh, wish I was a subscriber sooner! I work on BMW, Audi, and Porsche cars. I can never have enough tools. LOL! I will keep an eye out on the next tool give away!
you need a long 1/4 ratchet. I made my with the 1/4 breaker bar that's about a foot long, then added the 1/4 ratchet head (I did this a while back, now snap on sells this already made) and it's the handiest ratchet working on audis at the dealership level.

Just completed a water pump and timing belt replacement on a 2002 VW Jetta 2.0 Turbo. So far the most painful repair I have come across (have done several engine swaps and other repairs on Japanese cars and trucks).

Your opinion on the overall quality of the Sonic Tools? Looking at making an investment in a lot of tools and want to know the good and bad
Does sonic sell those boxes in the States ? Looks like nice quality stuff. Can't find any prices either

Proving one of my favorite Axioms "There's a 'Right' tool for every job and it's never an adjustable wrench"
@erikodinson9288

Rich Rodriguez I grew up on a farm my grandfather and father would argue quite vehemently against that axiom
Hey Charles, how do you decide which tool to use when you have several options on the same size?(like torx screwdriver vs torx L style). Also, when do you use 6 point sockets versus 12 point sockets?(and when to use 3/8" vs 1/2" for the same socket size?, torque?)
@kidzero1943
7 жыл бұрын
Guillermo Lovato it depends on the location of the bolt being removed or how tight the bolt is stuck on there. It will be common sense which tool to use as u progress in being a technician. For example, most European lugs for the wheels are 17mm. You can use a 3/8 or a 1/2 drive but its going to be alot easier to sitck a 1/2in 17mm on an impact to remove the wheel, versus putting a 3/8 17mm using an adapter taking a chance to breaking the adapter due to more torque.
@benjaminbills1998
7 жыл бұрын
Guillermo Lovato always more then one way to skin a cat... the benefit of having such a diverse set is having the ability to choose the right tool for the job but just because you aren't doing it "the right way" doesn't mean it can't be done. I use what works. if you have a 6 point head and the 12point slips then you need to use a six point head.. if the 3/8 inch extension seems flimsy for the amount of force used then its probably not the right tool. judging what will work and what went comes from the experience.
Why would you put the screwdrivers in the top drawer and not 3/8 sockets
@HumbleMechanic
5 жыл бұрын
It’s how they came. Lol luckily swapping drawers is super easy. Ultimately everyone has their preferences with organization. I don’t find the top being any more convenient than the second one down
@rjw261984
4 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. Ive never seen a tech use screwdrivers more than a ratchet and sockets.
The Original Fidget Spinner, was indeed the front wheel of a Tamiya Frog! Assuming you had the ball bearings. Fun really only lasted 5 mins or so. Not sure how this craze lasted as long as it has. Thaty's right, O.G. Fidget! BTW, does the box have a swear jar!?
@HumbleMechanic
6 жыл бұрын
LOL, I think you have to DIY that swear jar
I find it odd that as VW enthusiasts Charles (and Paul from ShopDAP) don't prefer German tools. I think working on VWs and Audis with Hazet, Stahlwille, Elora, Wiha, NWS etc tools would be kind of neat. Likewise working on Japanese cars with Koken, KTC or Vessel tools. Working on Ferraris, Alfa Romeos or FIATs with Beta or USAG, working on Renaults/Peugeots with Facom, working on Jaaags with King Dick tools (hardy haha) and so on...
@HumbleMechanic
Жыл бұрын
That is interesting. I really like Wiha and Hazet(I haven't used the others a lot).
can i purchase the sonic tools in canada ? or do i have to pay high amount for shipping and duty?

i have a question. i been looking at this tool box for a while now and i was just wondering if you think this is a perfect tool box to start off with. im currently going to school to become a tech and i already have a job lined up with audi. should i invest my money into this box or go get my stuff from matco or other companies?

Bearded Ninja87 pretty late here. But I felt similarly. Looked up automechamic schools online. They are self paced and have quality materiel. Sure you don’t get the hands on right away. But I started with applying my lessons to my beater car. Ended up fixing her up really good. Got a little part time and weekend job as a tech at a local dealership. I’m not a mechanic and I like my job as a ct tech, but I’m saying the options are there. Those online schools are a great avenue and aren’t too expensive. I payed 50 dollars a month for 11 months.
How have these been holding up? and how are you liking them, I'm considering getting a toolbox

no 12 point 30mm for axle nuts...
ive never been a huge fan of the sonic tools. but wow. a service cart without a stupid flip top!??! awesome! you mean i can actually put shit on the top and still get at the tools????
I like how German cars use torx, they don't slip as much
My buddy just got a HUGE snap-on tool chest, retails at $11k, he got it for $5k, lol you can buy a freakin car for that!!
I dont see the check eng light tool? you know the roll of black electrical tape tp cover it up? LOL

Them foam mats seem like a waste of space what happens when stop changing oil and rotating tires over there and actually start doing something where are they going to put the tools they buy on top of the mats then you got dig them out take them foam mats out and I could fit everything in that box in 3 drawer and it still would be neater
Do VW come with life time tires who the heck puts tires on them if there techs don't mount them
@kidzero1943

Jairo Canales Technicians do mount and balance tires.
@HumbleMechanic
