5:57 those sockets do alright on an impact in tight spots but they are easy to pop out of the socket if you crank on them too hard

Right angle impact I feel is so so sooooo niche …. My m18 stubby typically gets there for tight spots but once ina while that right angle comes in handy other than that it just sits in my box for that once ina. While thing haha

The Astro 1/2in universals aren’t the greatest but like you said multiple times they do there job just fine and I haven’t had one be a problem for me. I’ve been a dealer tech for 2 years now and I still have yet to find the need to step onto the snap on truck and buy an overpriced tool.

I've contemplated getting the astro nanos but i wasn't sure due to them needing a 17mm wrench, even for a 10mm socket. Would you buy them again or go with something else? I'd appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Not the biggest fan of the 17mm for every size but I’ve definitely got some good use out of the set. I like putting them on my mountain wrench, creates a pretty low profile setup. I would buy again but I have seen that Home Depot has husky branded ones that look the same and are about $15 cheaper. Not sure on the quality of them but they would be easier to warranty I imagine

@@reallyreallywrenching There are a number of other brands now which all go up to 19mm, but only Astro has the 20-24mm sizes for the 3/8 drive set. The 1/2" drive sets go up to 24mm too but they are a bit larger, so don't really see the point.

12:30 I’m going to buy that ratchet from a company called halfords. It’s a big company in the uk and they have the exact same product for the equivalent of $17 USD so it’s probably cheaper I’m assuming. It feels cheap and that’s because it is but they’re not bad since they get the job done. The halfords version also has a lifetime warranty

Why are you using the wrong battery on that 3/8 matco impact? That's probably why it doesn't work well for you. I have one and it works great. I've pulled lug nuts off of some cars with it. I don;t necessarily think it was worth the money, but it's never let me down.

Damn you have the snap on universal impacts, those aren’t cheap. Do you think they are worth it? Also you said you don’t use your 1/2” chrome why?

  • @reallyreallywrenching

Yeah those universals really hurt the wallet lol but I just had to have them. I’ve had the 1/4 and 3/8 sets for about 3 years and they’ve held up great but if I had to buy again I would probably pick up some Capri or Icon honestly because of the price. And I usually just use the impacts for everything because chances are if I’m using 1/2 it’s going on an impact haha

@@reallyreallywrenching what about when you do alignments? because I use 1/2 chrome I think an impact would be hard to get into some tight spots... not criticizing just curious

  • @reallyreallywrenching

All good! I haven’t really found many spots that impacts won’t fit but we don’t do many alignments here honestly. This shop is a really small separate one away from the main shop that only does the high mileage heavy line cars. We don’t have an alignment rack so usually they get shipped over to the main shop and done by the lubies over there

Just remember just because it’s snap on doesn’t mean it’s worth it or even good. Does snap on make some good shit ?? Heck yea but too too many people buy shit hand over fist just because the name on the tool because idk why.

It's really odd to me how many garages expect you to provide your own tools. Like I work in computers and every company I've worked for provides all the stuff we need. If we don't have it, we tell them and they get it for us. Never would I work for a place that makes me pay for my own tools and then use my tools to make them more money. That's just idiotic to me.
