Kinda funny is that I think this is how the Classic Sonic Timeline went as well. Sonic leaving the Emeralds in Tails' care thinking he wouldn't need them due to where he was going in Sonic CD.

There's an error you made during the Sonic CD section of the timeline. Little Planet didn't explode at all. Sure it looked like it did, but it actually just went back to where it came from in super sonic speed. How else would Metal Sonic survive?

Honestly I had no idea what Eggman's plan was for mania but it actually makes a lot of sense, especially with the cutscenes

Sonic CD takes place before Sonic 2. Sonic CD's Little Planet was basically a prototype Death Egg (hinted at being constructed during Sonic 1). Sonic 3 takes place right after part 2. Then it goes into Mania

@Super Mario Michael 2 nO rEaLlY? Lol. Christ. I said Little Planet was basically a Death Egg prototype; a giant mechanical orbital satellite of destruction. Keyword is prototype. "Prototype." As in he didn't have enough resources for a complete mechanised orbital body, so he covered the satellite planet with mech instead of constructing a complete one on his own...to test the waters. Once he got a feel for it, and was able to get enough resources, he started construction on the real death machine during Sonic 2

Not to sound rude but Sonic CD happened Between Sonic 1 and 2, Sonic 3 Occurs right away after Sonic 2's Good ending. And tails never showed up in the original Sega CD version of Sonic CD.

Tails didn't show up in Sonic 4 Episode 1 either, yet that doesn't mean it takes place before Sonic 1. He doesn't have to follow Sonic on every of his adventures. And why would Eggman use Silver Sonic after the far more advanced Metal Sonic failed ? It doesn't make sense to place it between 1 and 2. And neither between 2 and 3&K, as Sonic keeps the Chaos Emeralds between them. It only works if you place it after at least Sonic's story in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I know this placement didn't work before because of the primitive spindash, but in a timeline, the latest official version of a game is always the canon one, and Whitehead's remake is the latest official version, that uses the proper spindash. Tails is just a bonus though, his presence doesn't count in the story.

chapmic I still like to think CD occurs before genesis 2, but after game gear sonic 2. His conversion of little planet into a metallic base was most likely a prototype death egg(before just building it himself from scratch , he'd basically roboticize the entire planet). I like to think that Silver Sonic(8-bit) and Metal Sonic were designed to try and copy sonic's speed and agility, while Silver Sonic (16-bit) and Mecha Sonic were built to be far bulkier and more combat oriented when the Metal Sonic line failed . In Sonic cd, Metal Sonic could only discharge electricity or burst in speed and Silver Sonic(8-Bit) could only swipe and roll into a ball(and be deflected). The mecha sonic line starting in Genesis sonic 2 are designed less on speed and more killing sonic through either intelligence , raw power , and super forms(Mecha Sonic) or designed much larger with buzzsaw spikes(Silver sonic)

Sonic 4 Episode 1 acknowledges Tails. Sonic uses a rocket to reach the E.G.G Station and the rocket has Tails's tails on it as the symbol. Sonic CD in comparison doesn't even acknowledge the existence of Tails within the story which is odd considering how inseparable they are. And your Silver Sonic argument doesn't work either. Metal Sonic doesn't even fight Sonic. He races him and smashes his head on a closing door. The Mecha Sonic line does fight Sonic so it could be argued the Mecha line were built with a different purpose (like being more combat friendly) than the Metal line. Add in the fact that Sonic CD was in development at the same time as Sonic 2 and it makes more sense to fit it in before Sonic 2 than after Sonic3&K.

@@Ki_ngy generations doesn't use the Classic Sonic and Tails, his design is different(it is actually the 90's american design) and he is portrayed as a younger modern Sonic, Sonic never got older or younger, and CD takes place between 1 and 2, this is why he don't walks with Tails till Sonic 2

It's rather out of nowhere though. at first we were led to believe that CLassic and Modern shared the same universe and events. with SOnic Generations being one of the many examples of that. It reminds me a lot of what Mario and Luigi Paper Jam did. at first, we were led to believe that Mario and Paper Mario were the same and that they share the same universe and events. now they imply that the Paper Mario series takes place in a book.

Andrew Valdes And Sonic Generations is the prequel of Sonic 1. I know that Classic Sonic can Spin Dash in the game, but the first level plays in Green Hill Zone, so the game can be a prequel.

Jasir Mills Ok, it's not exactly a prequel, but Classic Sonic never went back to Green Hill Zone because of Eggman before Sonic Mania. That's why I think Sonic Generation is a "prequel".

I really loved this timeline video and I cannot wait to learn about Modern Sonic's timeline

the thing i like is that the story is explained and some of it tells where they're going

Heres a Interesting little tibit. In the Japanese manual for knuckles chaotix, it says that the game takes place after sonic 3 and knuckles. The Mania manual also claims to take place after 3&k, so that's kinda weird.

The Little Planet doesn't explode, it shifts back out of the dimension. It's explained in the instructions booklet.

I like how in the sonic 1 ending, Sonic's kinda like "Wait, the emeralds fucking do nothing? VAnish? ehh wtf who cares I won"

To keep up to date, here's the order in Classic Sonic's dimension: Sonic 1 Sonic CD Sonic 2 Sonic Generations Sonic 3 and Knuckles Sonic Mania Sonic Forces Sonic Mania Adventures Sonic Mania Plus. And then some other Classic Sonic games that came out before Sonic 3&K.

In my personal opinion I think it would make more sense for sonic CD too come after sonic 1 and before sonic 2

Sonic CD is after 1 and before 2. Classic Sonic's​ perspective of Generations is after 3K. Classic Sonic's​ perspective of Forces is after Mania and Sonic 4 is after that.

Most emulators have multiple visual filters that smooth out the pixels like in the video, among other stuff like scanlines or filtering to make it look more like an analog TV.

Sonic generations was also a classic Sonic game, we just don’t know when it occurred in classics timeline

i know an another story before Sonic 1, he was the fastest hedgehog but everytime his runned got his feets burned so the good dr. Ivo Kintobor saw Sonic, feeled sorry about that and give him a pair of shoes which help Sonic & make him also faster. Dr. Ivo Kintobor wanted to make a test with his new mashine which used many rings to collect energy from other dimensions BUT something gone wrong and this mashine exploded .. he hold at this time an egg on his hand -so he got changed from this accident to dr. Robotnik.. his personality got twisted and wicked evil... So he wanted those shoes back but his main objective was to collect the rings that Sonic will bring im back. The Chaos emeralds was something like a secret... I readed that as kid back in 1991 in a game magazine.

@Super Mario Michael 2 Sonic 4 is canon to Modern Sonic, as said by executive producer of Sega, the classic Sonic of Generations, Mania and Forces is from a different dimension, which because of Time Eater, got his timeline messed with, making it so that Sonic 4 didn't happen like in the Modern timeline

@Super Mario Michael 2 yes, our sonic (modern sonic) went through sonic 1, CD, 2, 3 etc.. and he also went through adventure colors generetions etc, but the classic sonic from mania only went through Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3, Generations and Mania

Knuckle’s Chaotix and Sonic 4 also happened in there somewhere. Sonic 4 explains how Metal Sonic came back in Sonic Mania and every other game.

I wish there was a mode in SM where you could have Sonic&Tails&Knuckles all at once.

You didn't explain how Knuckles mixed up the Chaos Emeralds though. The Super Emeralds looked enough like the Chaos Emeralds that Knuckles thought Sonic had stolen them. That's why he stole Sonic's Chaos Emeralds.

You probably know this by now (cuz of all the other comments saying so) but sonic CD happened between Sonic 2 and Sonic 1.

Not sure if you went in chronological or release date order but CD is between 1 and 2

This video has some details wrong and is missing other Classic Sonic tittles (mostly the game gear games) that happen before Mania and are referenced in it.

Sonic Mania doesn't happen in the principal timeline. The Classic Sonic from Forces is the same Sonic from Mania. And remember,Classic Sonic from Sonic Forces isn't from the past,is from an other dimension.

Little Planet wasn't destroyed, it disappeared back into its own dimension I don't think Sonic would be happy if he let it be destroyed, and since he had the time stones he could of undone it anyway.

Actually, Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces should be in this. Sonic Gen. takes place in the old zones, Sonic Forces has to take place BEFORE Sonic Mania to have the Phantom Ruby.

ITS CALLED ANGEL ISLAND, NOT FLOATING ISLAND! this was even established in the original game.

So Generations, Tails Adventures, and Knuckles Chaotix are just not cannon anymore?

Nope! *Mistake #1 CD's placement* It can only take place before Sonic 2 or after Knuckles. Not in between. Robotnik goes straight from 2 to 3&K, so there's no way he had a diversion in between. *Mistake #2 You forgot Generations* Yes it takes place in the future, but it still happened for Classic Sonic. It is a HUGE omission because it caused a split in the original chronology. It's only because of Generations that Mania can take place, since the Classic world is now a separate dimension due to being a separate timeline, which caused Modern Eggman to send the Phantom Ruby (prototype) to the Mania verse in the first place. All of this leads to... *not really a Mistake #3 but a minor nitpick: acknowledging the split* So yeah. Everything except for Generations (Classic side) and Mania happened for Modern Sonic in his past. However Classic Sonic is currently living a new timeline with brand new adventures that Modern never experienced. So yeah, Generations' ending and Forces' "retcon" ultimately was a semi-reboot, because it means now we get NEW Classic games with no relation to Modern.

Sorry but doesn't sonic CD take place after sonic 1? I mean we see sonic and tails escape the death egg in S2 and head directly too Angel island in S3. The tornado's jet booster is still attached Sonic goes super sonic and we see Knuckles literally punch the S2 chaos emeralds right out of him. If CD takes places after after S2 as you suggest then sonic would have had access to his super sonic form throughout the entire game since he would have been in possession of the chaos emeralds the whole time.

the theme isn't a remix (heck it sounds more like melee's brinstar than Fist Bump) the drop Dash is something every version of classic sonic would know so thats incredibly weak evidence also with mania happening after sonic and knuckles that would make it part of moderns history so no that is not another dimension Eggman states the classic sonic in Forces is from another dimension not classic in general The one in forces is a different sonic than the one in mania since the one in mania is also the one from generations *is that so hard to understand?* Do i have to explain this to you people why the heck are you assuming that his pose *which is next to The Logo* as proof? *seriously he's just posing next to the logo* he does the exact same thing in the bad ending just with a different pose *heck he even poses on the cover*

Let settle this : Classic Sonic, Classic Tails and Classic Eggman got transported to the future during Generations. As they knew what was going to happen to their future, it created a new timeline, thus Sonic Mania happened while it wasn't supposed to happen (and maybe the Phantom Ruby appeared because of this paradox but that's just speculation). So Sonic Forces' Classic Sonic is from another dimension because he isn't from the main timeline, the timeline that Modern Sonic experienced, he's from the timeline where he was aware of the future and Mania happened.

Infinite But the exact pose he uses in Forces though? And why would the good ending be him being swallowed into a portal to who knows where if he isn't going to Forces? That sounds like a pretty sad ending to me. Tail's and Knux watch as there best friend disappear before their very eyes. Also explain all the sound effects from Infinite that are use for the Phantom Ruby.
