Mike, Intermittent problems can drive us crazy. You have a lot of patience. Can't believe how loose the pin was. Good job! Thanks for sharing!

Intermittent issues are the most frustrating. Also the most satisfying when you fix it 👍👍

This is a good case study Mike! Not an easy one because intermittent problems are hard and more when the problem is a loose pin fit. I am glad you found it and shared with us! Thank you! I am ready for the next one!

Mike, always enjoy your attention to detail. Its greatly appreciated. Were all of your captures gathered while using the function test for the egr on your scanner? If so the sudden back and forth of motor command to the egr may have been a strategy of the test to check for reaction all the functions of the valve. Like you said postion sensor was not indicating what it wanted. By the way, you can take a deep dive into any subject you want. I'm in.

I appreciate the comment. On the capture I went over with 2 amp clamps, the engine was at idle. All of the other captures I was using the scanner and active testing. Although the EGR valve wasn't open,at idle it is still pulsing the valve. I'm guessing it stays in a constant state of ready.

What is the cause of this large peak in the valve position signal 36.22? There is no indication from the current or voltage command that a major change will occur.

I had the scope on a 9x vertical zoom so small things look way more serious than what the are. It most likely noise.
