Soloing At Really Fast Tempos on the Drums🔥🔥

Музыка

In this Jazz Drummer Q-Tip of the Week, I demonstrate how to solo at the drums at really fast tempos. Soloing at Really Fast Tempos in the context of jazz drumming is an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish, but with the right rudiments and techniques, it can be done effectively. This video is to show viewers how to solo on the drums at fast tempos using 4 rudiments that Louis Hayes employed: the single stroke, paradiddle, double paradiddle and paradiddle-diddle.So if you're up for the challenge and want to learn how to solo at really fast tempos, just like Louis Hayes, make sure to check out this video today!

    Quincy!!!! One way to decipher a good teacher from bad teacher is, a good teacher will take the complex and explain it in a way that a student will be able to understand it and use it. You do that time and again. The 158 jazz vocabulary phrases is a must have for every drummer playing in any style. Thanks for all you do! Now go get yourself some green tea. FP

    What a great lesson!❤ Thank you Quincy for revealing the "secrets" of bebop rudimental phrasing language. I've never seen anyone presenting it with such clarity and ease. You realy helped me to finaly understand what's going on and how can it make sence. Before I used to practice this rudiments separately and here and there pour it in my soloing. Now finaly I have a tool for exploring them together in a way that makes sence(4 or 8 bar phrases) 🙏P.S. this video encouraged me to start practicing (after some time again😊) thanks!

    Thanks for this awesome lesson! I love the paradiddle rudiments, because they are so versatile & lead to lots of interesting rhythms. One of my favorite techniques, is to use subdivisions (eighths, triplets, sixteenths, & sextuplets) to further vary where the accents land. I also love to displace these rudiments, so that they start anywhere but on the beat (ala Gaddiments). You always have great ideas to pass along, which I, in turn, try to incorporate with my students. Your channel is an excellent advertisement for the quality of education at UNT.

    Quincy thanks much... little secret for you all...the cuban impro is to start and finish between the first 2 strokes of the clave if in 2/3 or the last 2 strokes if in 3/2. 3 ways to start. 3 eight notes in between the first 2 strokes pick one to start the conversation and pick an other to finish..... it's based on the quinto "de la rumba" thanks bye

    Thanks Q! So great having a lesson right after the reaction video. When you are playing 4 or 8 bar phrases at eighth note tempo, and throwing in double paradiddles or paradiddlediddles, do you have tips on making it land correctly since those are 6 note stickings?

  • @drumqtips

    @drumqtips

    Жыл бұрын

    Glad you enjoyed this lesson EP! The only tip I have for you for making sure you can consistently come out correctly with your sticking for the six note rudiments is, practice counting the bar numbers as you’re playing the rudiments. This will keep you accountable for the larger phrases that you’re trying to play.
