Nate is an elite athlete disguised as a absolute madman. Charging desolate slabs alone, making rough and dangerous conditions look like a glassy day at his home break. It’s awesome to watch someone push surfing to its limits again and again.

Nate is so giggly/happy-go-lucky all the time it’s easy to forget that he is THE heavy waterman on the planet. But it’s not like he broke his back or shattered his elbow surfing this year because that would surely make him more cautious.

Shoutout to the wife for real. She did her thing and got the shots for you, even in the crazy offshore! Loved her knowledge on how the wave was kinda hard to get into, and how a tow would help. You have taught her well Mr. Florence. Those pits looked so sick & fun. Salute from Jersey, yeeww!

That was one slick entry - timing to perfection. I have to say its incredibly impressive the way you turn up to a new wave like that and figure out the layout so quickly. I almost enjoy watching the entries and exits more than the surfing when its so sketchy like that.

I’ve never been a big surf helmet advocate but I think you might want to consider it. So entertaining, that wave is nuts.

Probably one of your sickest videos due to being alone and the sun going in. Watching it clamp before you paddled out had me worried, but then, as you got closer to the sea, it calmed to allow you a stress free paddle out, truly beckoning and welcoming you to that slab. Your "friends" missed a golden opportunity leaving it to one man to rule all the waves. It's always beautiful how awesome you are as a couple during those stressful times, and how much Mahina backs you to the hilt, but still worries naturally and turns it into cute commentary. What's not to like, your sheer bloody-mindedness and determination to ride the sickest waves on the planet hypes and lifts everything you do.
