Solo Red Deer Hunting with Recurve Bow
A fully self filmed process of harvesting wild venison on public land with Traditional style gear. ( reuploaded it because I buggered up the rendering process last time so the picture quality wasn't too flash )

Brother , you live a most amazing life. I can say first hand that you a tremendously privileged to have such pristine wilderness at your disposal. A real life garden of Eden without the large predators to compete with. You’re very blessed and I hope you decide to have a son or adopt a young man to pass on the knowledge and lifestyle. Consider becoming a foster parent to a teen who needs the peace and stability of a mellow man like yourself and the healing power of nature and physical strength he’d build running a trap line with a back pack.

Thanks mate.. we are very lucky to have what we have here in NZ. I already have my daughter, who I will absolutely be passing my knowledge and lifestyle on to
Did you guys see his shoes..?? Just rugged and torn falling apart.. A true hunter..nothing fancy about him..just the REAL DEAL.. Good work and wish you all the best with more harvest with your bow.. GOD bless you

Having shoes in New Zealand is a sign of great wealth. I'd give anything for those shoes. And those shoes are the only ones his whole family own - that's why he stalks barefoot regularly, when it's one of his siblings turn to wear them. I''m in my 60s and still waiting for my first pair - which I will get when my uncle dies 😁😀
You are the man to watch for all game shooting, just love your videos here in the uk
Just catching up I on some of your ear videos & really enjoyed the effort you have gone through to make your experiences available to us, thank you so much & keep em coming.
Just love your approach Shay, the low key attitude and your dedication to your wild craft. Thanks for sharing
Ook me about 40 hunts before I landed my 1st bow kill. Learnt an awful lot in that process. So many variables to consider to get success. But geez, what a feeling when you get there. I was buzzing for week! Persistence and patience......
Glad you ended up mounting a camera onto the bow, that must have made a huge difference. You have great patience, for sure. Well done.
This guy is the 2021 bush tucker man. I loved watching those shows with my pop.
Awesome video bro your a mad dog the old deer touge deer brains too Farrrr
I just love this video! Ground spot and stalk strategy is what I use as well. I've never been able to shoot a deer yet in two seasons but you inspire me to keep trying. I find it literally awe inspiring that you can actually smell a deer! Like whoa!!!!! Love the barefoot approach! You are definitely bout it bout! I know you're all bout that possum trapping but I would absolutely love to see more bow hunting vids! Thanks for sharing your adventures being a beastly hunter, trapper, woodsman!

Once you know that smell you can’t mistake it in the bush...

Why is it so difficult to shoot a deer? I see them outside my window here in Europe every morning. I might go for one! This inspired me.
I really respect your patience and respect for the deer! You're a legend. Nice shot. Persistence paid off!
I liked your line describing brain. "Intense" quality video. Keep making these stalking videos!
Been hunting with only a Bow for meat for 40 yrs, you are on to it..I found dive boots & camo on face ( charcoal ) were a game changer..when I started we made our own camo, because you could not buy it..Shot a wild Boar last month as he attacked our boar George Kune..standing in our bedroom, through open window, 40 mtrs , heart shot with a 70lb Compound Bow..hes fat as and in the freezer..You are a legend in my whare, you could teach the tamariki so much, a " Bush craft School "

I noticed in the bush a white face is the first thing you can see of a person. Obviously why Africans and Aborigines are dark skinned. They are closer to the original hunter. We are snow adapted.

@@redtobertshateshandles My success with a Bow skyrocketed when I used charcoal from the fireplace across my face an bare skin..bare feet or the dive boots made getting close easier..stop , crouch and look n listen every now and then is a winner..I have shot many deer at under 20 mtrs, hunting by stealth..always into the wind.
Awesome footage and your patience to share your first bow and arrow hunt thanks
GREAT JOURNEY, GREAT VID. UK
Congratulations man. 😁👍👏 Now that’s Trepanning with a difference. This fella takes ‘eat what you shoot’ to the next level!😅

I don't think he was joking - Obviously he's trying to kill it, but that doesn't mean he wants it to suffer.
Much better video quality 👍 will watch again after-work, thanks bro for the video
Well done you have the patience of a saint! Good on ya!
Awesome vid bro and well done on getting one with the bow. Love your vids, real hunting in the bush without all the flash gear keeping it real... wicked!
Forget the camera & film the results of dead deer. Your stalks are amazing. That 1st Stag launched like a rocket. Perseverance & patience paid of. Stay safe & good luck with future bow hunts
Epic content, dude, you'd absolutely nail them with a head mounted go pro.
Great video man, you're a great stalker with huge patience. Liked the video, entertaining to the end, nice work, look forward to next one.
"For some reason" lol. I do it because it's awesome fun and one of the most challenging things you can do.
You shot them with the camera and their still living keeping the ecosystem alive...
Keep it wild enjoy all your films, met you in okui whirinaki river one year,on your blue surf you and two mate's.
Bloody Awsome Mate
It’s HUNTING! Not SHOPPING! You are amazing! Well done. 👍🏻
Very nice bow-hunting. Well done. Yes, an arrow at close range shot from say a 45-lb re-curve bow, has a hell of a wallop, and it's shock power at close range has a great killing effect besides the broad-head's cutting damage. Heart, kidneys, and liver are all good eating I enjoy. Bows are versatile weapons as they can shoot fish, birds, small game, and large game. Keep it up, it's a good video you've made, so make more of them.
Awesome vid mate! Congratulations on your first bow shot deer! 🤙
Awesome video. I've never had much luck bush stalking but after watching this I'm all fizzed to give it another crack!

Loving your videos bro , I think I've watched half your channel in two days , I've been watching the big name KZreadrs for years , but way prefer your style of videos , you don't hop in a chopper to get anywhere 🤣 just a real fella out in the bush doing it like the rest of us 👍
Awesome video man love it! I hear that the ol tongue wants to be boiled first then, scrape off the outer tough chewy layer then she fry’s up mean as. Apparently, am yet to try myself

You can buy tongue in a can. We used to raid mums when we'd come home pissed. They were furry.
Wow, it got me a little bit of surprise about you eating those organs, tongue, heart and brain. I never tasted any of those in other animals. I did however ate fish tongue, fish cheek and tasted fish eye. It's hard, almost bead like, even it's dropped to the table, sounded like bead... so I ended up spitting it because I can't eat it, hahaha!
i been bow hunting for 46 years and trapping in america florida to be exact i would love to come live there bud
After you cook the animals' organs, put them in a meat grinder with the largest hole. Then put them in some beef broth to make a stew.
Awesome
Awesome hunting maté nothing like fresh meat
U are the man
great video i watching the full vid
You should try to get yourself a kiblers flintlock longrifle I believe you would enjoy hunting with one adding another way to hunt
freaking frodo right here!
Inspiring 🤝🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Awsome az bro,If you don't mind me asking what is the lb on your recurve bow?Cheers bro
Chur bro, nice one.
love it
Congrats on that accomplishment! What kind of shoes are you wearing to stalk on the deer? I use waterproof socks but curious what other people use to keep quiet while stalking in the woods. Thanks!
man i want to come live wher your at lol i would love that
Tongue is the best part of any wild deer.
Stop stressing about video length bro. Would have happily watched longer.
Cheers

So you can hunt with a recurve bow?
You are the modern Robinhood...how were you able to live mosly alone..away from parents and siblings? who teaches you the life in the wild? kudos to you.
What are you going to do with the hide?
