I'm with you on how good possum is. The possum only eats the best vegetation and that fact is reflected in the taste. A mate of mine, a long time trapper in the Ureweras, was proud of the fact he never ate possum. Yet he ate supermarket sausages etc. I couldn't work that one out.

I love how the bush tail possom is labeled “troublemaker”

The deer may have ticks but thank god we don't have Lyme disease that afflicts North American deer (and humans).

You've got bloody good eyes for picking up animals in the bush. Nice work on that bedded down stag. Nice clean kill

That's great mate, good to see a fellow Kiwi hooking into unorthodox wildlife. Have always been put off by the (it seems incorrect) perceived difficulty in skinning. I'll give it a go.

Don't do this at all ..i mean if a random giant mirror on the highway you would crash right ?? Or one in the wrong place in your home what would happen if you ran thru it .. I love animal reactions even mirror ones but not like this unsafe way

Ook me about 40 hunts before I landed my 1st bow kill. Learnt an awful lot in that process. So many variables to consider to get success. But geez, what a feeling when you get there. I was buzzing for week! Persistence and patience......

Reminds me of going into the trees with some budget freeze dry spud, peas, corn etc. So stoked when you got real meat, there wasn't waiting for a better one. Get in my belly, the hype I find only died out halfway through trying to sort how to keep it. Then once it's right you plonk down with a cup of tea. Wake up with drool and a cold cup of tea and it's time for bed.

Stuff takeaways, gourmet bush tucker. People would spend some coin for that experience. You should do some guided NZ bush experience trips. Show them what the go is, doesn't have to be perfect. Just keep them comfy for the reviews. I wish I was more confident as to what I could pack in my face. Organ failure or pulse jet engine sh*ts you can't turn off, makes that feed not as worth while.

You should run classes for people to learn from you in the field, I'd love to do it. I'd happily spend a week or two boosting around the bush eating random trees and odd creatures. :D

Wood ear can be used to make a good salad with a little vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil. Bit more to the pre than that but otherwise it's a decent dish. Probably hard for this kind of challenge though.
