Facts he's taught me more than anyone
'National Geographic Channel' needs to have a chat with this fella....what a wealth of natural knowledge and survival skills....
This channel is very underrated
What a wealth of awesome knowledge, and survival skills you've got Shay If there was ever a disaster (hopefully only a natural one if there is) and there was no power, fuel or gas or electricity supply, and roads were knocked out, and the supply chains all buggered, I know one dude that'll survive with relative ease I love all your videos mate, don't stop putting them out, and this one is another ripper Congrats on easily lasting the 60 days, no doubt helped by the variation of ingredients, flavours, and cooking methods you use, and having cooked with camp ovens for decades, I swear by them as a go to utensil Haha you should have brewed up some bush beer using wild hops (plenty round my way) or Horehound, or manuka, Or wine with some of the fruits around to celebrate ...... but finding enough sugar substitute maybe difficult unless you rat a bee hive lol

Man, I absolutely LOVED this video. Epic. Your knowledge is incredible. I had no idea how much food is able to be foraged here in Aotearoa. Thoroughly enjoyed this and have saved to my faves to watch many more times. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and passion, and congrats on a blimmin fantastic video - superb! Cheers, Amy
Shay your considered and constant appreciation governed by respect for all in your environment is a credit to you. Thank you for your sincere dedication to Keeping it Wild & Keeping it Real. Health Wealth & Happiness to you and your family for 2024 and beyond. Best wishes Sam.
Bro I absolutely love your channel! You should right a survival book (with pictures) on what is safe to eat and medicinal
Outstanding mate.
You did SO well with this. Here's the thing: your joints and physical health bloomed during this challenge because you were off sugar and other carbs (mostly). If you just ate meat, fat and the occasional vegetable, you would find sustained physical and mental transformation that is off the charts. Carnivore for the win bro!

Ka rawe! Ngaa mihi ana koe e hoa. We are the ancestors of the future. Good to see you sharing how our tipuna lived. E tuu Mai nei
Love that you touch all bases with things to be aware of (check what you're about to eat to be sure it's safe to eat) but also love how you share your extensive knowledge of NZ flora and fauna how it tastes, when to harvest, what part of the plant or animal to use etc. Long time fan. Props bro. Always love your vids.
Epic video mate 👍🏼 I’m curious to know if you weighed yourself before and after the 60 days? It looked like you consumed a lot of fats but also covered a lot miles too acquire it. Anyway, I hope you and the family had an awesome Chrissy and new year 🍻
Definitely going to keep an eye on some of the kawa kawa and other goodies that I see on my daily walks, just in my back door. I've learned so much from this video. The best yet.
Mate I keep returning to your channel. I don't forage or hunt but I DO get enormous pleasure from learning from you. Love that you cover health and safety while sharing traditional foraging techniques and what you have learnt about foraging over your rich and varied life. Alt life, traditional methods of food harvesting, being in tune with your environment, contrast to modern food 'harvesting (ie, supermarkets/butchers/green-grocers). Gives me a feeling of there is still another way (a better way?) to feed yourself and yours. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent information as always 🙏🏻
Tumeke bro, loved watching this. E mihi ana kia koe.
You're the man, love the knowledge and how there is no waste with all your harvesting. Great you're in New Zealand and you are the only one I have found that cover everything to do with bush life. Thank you, I appreciate you and all you do.

Friggin awesome brother. Better than the best. Thank you for the adventure
I have a TON of black nightshade in my backyard here in Oregon, USA. I make jam out of the berries every year and also use them in salsa as a tomato substitute. It's absolutely delicious! When you cook the berries with sugar, they taste like a cross between blackberries and blueberries and they're chock full of antioxidants.
Awesome video man. Thanks for putting in all the time and effort to make it for us all.

Mate, even with the carbs from those fruits, the majority of your diet is still from fats and protein, your mitochondria will be loving you! Check out Metabolic Therapy, Dr. Matt Phillips (Aussie trained Canadian), Metabolic Neurologist, Waikato Hospital uses low carb and fasting (both prolonged and intermittent) to help fight dementia, Parkinsons and Glioblastoma (brain cancer) and all cancers. He calls those diseases, lifestyle disease's, for all the reasons you talk about in your introduction, really great to see this video. What a diet bro!
