Solo Motorcycle Trip | Willow City Loop | Shipping Container Home on Texas Ranch
I take my Street Twin to a beautiful container home on a Desert Rose Ranch and I rode the Willow City Loop. It was a short but sweet route. I had a close call overheating on the way home, and learned a few lessons about riding in the heat.

Really enjoying your channel. I also live in Texas, and have had trouble with the heat while riding. I’ve never quite come up with a complete solution, it’s just plain hot! But here’s what I’ve gathered so far; I bought some ultra light body armor that you wear under your shirt. And for the shirt, I wear one of those bright yellow, lightweight shirts that you see the landscapers use. While the long sleeves seem counterintuitive, they actually help to trap moisture, and you’re better able to regulate evaporation that way. If you don’t regulate evaporation, the moisture will evaporate too quickly, and you’ll end up cooking in your own juices. This is also why you see people dress like this in desert climates. Also to protect them from direct sunlight. Traffic lights are the worst. What I’ve done is to carry a canteen with me, and I just dump water all over my head and upper body. When you start moving, it’ll feel great…for about 20 minutes. Lol Other than that, I just try and ride early and get done early.

@@moto_des Hello, I'm reminded that I camped in the Arizona Northern Sonoran Desert for two years. I had several cotton chamois material long sleeve shirts. Right now, I cannot recall the manufacturer. I think I got them from Cabela's or ( Broadway) Academy Surplus. During the day I would soak one in water. With the natural evaporation they would cool for forty-five minutes. The temperature would be 100+ degrees. Inside the shirt it felt like seventy-five degrees. After about two or three refills, I would start getting chills and would have to take the shirt off and let my tee shirt dry out a little bit. This should work nicely on a motorcycle. Not sure how long the shirt would retain moisture on a moving motorcycle. In the days of my youth during summertime we rode motorcycles wearing tee shirts. No leather jackets. In fact, I never was able to afford a leather jacket. A Langlitz Leather Jacket would have been nice. The Pants too.
Definitely a hydration pack in the heat. And either a mesh jacket, or at least a riding jacket with lots of openable vents! Heat exhaustion's no joke.

Totally agree!
Texas is amazingly pretty ... and HOT. I use LD Comfort's Power Temp Cool Sleeves up here in Memphis (where it also gets a little heated), and they work remarkably well even with our humidity. Oddly enough, they work better with a non-breathable jacket as it traps the cooled air around your torso. For $30, it can not be beat for summer riding.

I will look into this, thanks! Anything will help. That was a scary moment for sure. This is my first summer in TX on a motorcycle. Lesson learned. 😅

@@moto_des Dehydration will get you on a bike, as the wind flow just sucks the moisture out of your body. That is the reason why so many tank bags come with the option of carrying a water bladder and hose. I can speak from experience that being able to sip water as I ride made it possible to go from 1 to 1.5 hours between stops to however much fuel was left int he tank. #gamechanger
Yes, definitely get an armored mesh jacket. That's what I used Memorial day weekend on our ride through Fredericksburg , Dripping Springs and around Canyon Lake. I also use a Camelback hydration pack to keep from overheating. The Willow City look is definitely breathtaking!

I love driving through Canyon Lake! Hydration pack is a great idea! I'm going to look into the cooling vest as well. I definitely had minor heat exhaustion so I'm going to take all the precautions. 😅 Thanks for watching!
Hey girl! I’ve only been riding street for a few years now on a Suzuki gz250. It’s almost time to upgrade and I’ve been doing ENDLESS research on different bikes. Your videos have pretty much sold me on the Triumph Speed/Street Twin 900! Looks like a great bike. Thanks for your vulnerability and showcasing your progress! It’s super inspiring and I love the cool places you stay! Keep it up babe 🤜🤛
I use a Tank Bag / cup holder on different bikes and carry some water and splash myself. They make bottles that you use one hand / teeth to open while still riding. I will also soak the inside of my helmets during breaks. Most stores have a 2-1 discounts on water. I carry extra.

Great tips, thanks! This is my first time riding in heat so anything that has helped is much appreciated.
Yea, a cooling vest would also help a TON. That bandana soaked in cold water will help for about 15 - 20 mins and then you need to soak it again. A cooling vest will last about 30 mins. Mesh jacket 100% is the way to go in summer months. Trip looked awesome, and those are great bikes.

Thanks for the suggestions! I learned the hard way by not having a mesh jacket.
Nice trip & wonderful countryside, thanks for sharing. The one of the few downsides of the Street Twin (and my Tiger 800) is that they do run somewhat warm on hot days, setting the cooling fan off & treating your shins to blast furnace levels of heat.

Yeah, it was the stop and go traffic that got to me and it didn't help the bike runs really hot. Add the heat from the pavement and the sun beating down on you, it's not fun. 😅 Thanks for watching :)

Thanks for the cool episode. I really enjoyed it. I’ve been watching a lot of Triumph videos lately, as I just last month, May ‘24, bought a new Triumph Scrambler 1200xe. I’m up here in the DFW area, where It’s pretty boring scenery. I took the 1200xe out to Possum Kingdom Lake in the north Texas hill country a couple weeks ago. Great ride, great scenery. Happy Trails!
Texas hill county is absolutely beautiful and not forgiving at all as a lot of Texas is. It's easy to get caught in those overheated situations. Stop and go traffic around DFW still catches me. Mesh, tented face shield and a camelback (with extra insulation and ice) help some. Loved the place you stayed in. Getting on the roof is a wonderful touch. Beautiful video, you really do make them work well. Thank you for taking us along.

Another great vlog! I know what you mean about the heat, down here in Florida it can get a little toasty sometimes. Rev'it makes a nice summer jacket called the Eclipse. It's a little pricey but it is comfortable and lightweight if you are looking for a recommendation.

Nice cinematography & I'd forgotten how beautiful Texas hill country was. I haven't on the other hand forgotten how oppressive the summer heat and humidity can be!!!. It's like living in a Scandinavian sauna for half the year 😅. I was born & raised in Santa Fe New Mexico though spent most of the 80s and half the 90s in Austin. Those were good days if i discount the weather, though rafting trips on the Rio Grande were amazing. I decamped to Europe in 1996 and have lived in the UK since 2000. It's a bit wet here at times , but i won't be coming back 😅. Like the bike, I've a 2019 scrambler 900 which is almost the same bike and love it !.

Awesome looking trip! I'm in AR (also boiling in summer) I love my Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh jacket. Comes with a waterproof liner that packs tiny and it comes with removable armor. I leave mine in, but its removable. Makes a lot of difference in the heat to have a good jacket that breathes but still protects and keeps the sunburn factor nil on long rides. Inexpensive too. Just an idea. Love your journey! 🙌👊🏍

Nice vlog! I live in the Phoenix metro area, so I am definitely familiar with heat, haha. I ride with textile/mesh jackets exclusively since they have good airflow and provide acceptable protection. It's not specifically for women but take a look at Revit's Eclipse 2 jacket. It's less than $200, and comes with L1 protection at the shoulders and elbows. It also comes in a very light color; much better for your body's temperature regulation compared to the traditional black which really soaks up the heat.

Hello Madame 💐 😊 still following your videos. By now I also got my license so I am driving around with my own speed twin. I went for a jacket from fuel (division 2) because I wanted good quality and nice style. That brand has that but it's a bit pricy. It has a removable in liner that makes m, driving happily from 5-25 Celsius so far. Happy riding ❤

Another great video, I was right there until you threw the ice in the bath. Plus however many for a mesh jacket, I swear by my Knox Urbane Pro in summer in London where temperatures in recent years have hit 100°+. Unlike pretty much anything else on the market it's designed to be worn close to the body, you then add insulation and waterproof layers over the top if you need them. Great not only in summer where you can just throw a shirt over the top for sun protection, but good all year round as it converts any streetwear you have into an armoured, abrasion resistant jacket.
