A friend and I went hammock camping with our dual sports Labor Day weekend. We learned it’s not as easy as it looks! But, it was super fun!

I love this video, good job. Poke holes in your potatoes, let them soak in some water, then roll around in some sea salt, then wrap them up in some foil at home .When you get your fire going throw them in there asap, then finish your camp chores. When you smell baked potatoes they are done. Mmmmmm. Makers Mark, chilled, honeydipped cigar. Oh yeah.

Good comments on the side by sides on a trail. Seemingly more interested in tearing things up (including the side by side) by seeing just how much terrain they can bust over before the thing breaks.

Cool, a XR650L! As far as accessories go, get a PC-8 fuse box, It wires to the battery and has 8 fused outputs. Makes wiring stuff up easy and neat. Just be sure not to over load the electrical system. The Stator is kind of weak. A LED headlight is another good up-grade. Brighter light, lower amp draw. BTW, love hammock camping. Much better than a tent.

Like the idea of real food on a open fire, Would be easy to come up with a stew/soup, and coffee with a small pot. And the hammock camping looks good for summer camping, fall, winter, and spring, I would need a little more cover if chance of rain.

FTB, this guy from Indiana will tell you, the best campsite bourbon is Knob Creek. Two steps beyond excellent. Go with it once, you'll not switch. Lovin' your vids as a fellow solo moto camper. Curious on the morning after after a night in a hammock. Back, shoulders, hips fully functional. I've thought of trying it. KNow I could sleep but wonder how I'd feel the next day.

nice little video, wish I knew where you were but I understand why you dont say. Tip from an old hand at this, you might be surprised how handy a cheap walmart set of ss tongs would be, from grabbing hot things out of the fire, to flipping and manipulating messy food in a pan, maybe even holding a book open or taking part in a bike repair otr! I find them indispensable. You're also a brave man eating steak in bear country ;) Love the old 92.

I visited Ireland a few years ago and have been hooked on Jameson since. It's just so good.

Jameson is great. Irish whiskeys are by far my favorite. If you haven't had it, try Tullamore dew sometime

Totally agree on the SXSs. The long 4x4 adventures I used to do where I could get way back in the backwoods and enjoy tranquility has been ruined by packs of SXSs. The less people I see when I escape the better. Oh well.

I can't remember the name,but it looked like there would be fish in there.

Also I'd try hanginging between trees that are a little farther apart and get more tension on your hammock so it doesnt sag as much without you in it. A set of the looped webbing hammock straps is well worth a $15 investment for easy setup

I just had to totally laugh when you said, "oh, this whiskey tastes like honeysuckle and rose", and you said.."hey, just slow down!", I agree 100%, LOL, too funny. Great vids, thank you :)

Late to the party cuz I just found your channel... Love the content so far. Hammock camping is the way to go when not with a wife/gf. It's a rabbit hole tho. Real easy to spend wayyyy too much money. If you find you enjoy it, there's some great ways to make it more versatile weather wise. There's some great forums and fb groups to get more info. Also, a great how to book, Ultimate Hang.

I rode it upward once, but it was too rough on a bike. Rattled my windscreen off. Its in one of the camping videos

I like seeing you get out and try different stuff. The hammock probably wouldn't work in a lot of the places you've gone, but they're so damn easy and comfortable if you're somewhere with trees. Can't wait for part 2.

Same problem here in Louisiana with side by sides. Dig huge mud bogs, throw their empties on the trail on purpose or not you have to know the crap you put in the cooler ain't there now. And NO they won't learn they are teaching their kids the same dis-courtesy.

My son got nailed (t-boned) by one of those damn SXS. The dude came flying over the hill without any regard for what was on the other side. It tore him up pretty good, but all is well now. Excellent choice on the Tin Cup. Great stuff 🍻

just got into hammock camping myself its great

looks relaxing, definitely something I want to try out sometime...I only went camping one time, with some friends, shot some guns, got drunk as hell, had a fire...shot some guns again, nobody died, it was a great time. Woke up hung over as hell, kinda wanting to puke, didn't have any coffee...kinda wanted to die. lol. But yeah, it was good!

Camping is great!

This is just my style, a little riding, a little camping, and a little whisky, a great meal prepared on the fire. Then I like to watch the fire and stars after dark for awhile before going to bed. Better than any night in town. Really enjoyed your video. Keep em coming. Your videos keep getting better and better every time I watch.

I see you're trying to pack smaller. You can bring your sleeping bag down to a third of that size with a compression bag! They're pretty inexpensive

Idk if youll read this but you should tottally carry a small shovel like a gardening tool so you can dig into the ground for the fire pit like 6 inches in Allows you to use less rocks if there are not many available and such among other reasons there good to have along with a hatchet

Man I'd love to take a nice big steak with me camping but I find I have too many stomach issues. I actually went a year without red meat and pork and I never felt better in my whole life. This is coming from someone who has grown up with meat and potatoes his whole life! I couldn't resist the taste and eat like I used too now, just not as often.

I totally agree side by sides are assholes. I went for a dirt bike ride at a national park where they have a huge system of trails open and crashed my bike hard. Went over the bars at probably 45-50 mph and smashed my head onto a big rock. (Got a concussion btw) Anyway as I was laying there and waiting for my friends to find me multiple side by sides just drove by and Ignored me. Mind you my bike is in the trail and they avoided both it and me to keep going. Once my friends found me and we moved off the trail every single dirt biker and quad rider stopped to ask if I was okay. Went to the hospital the next day and couldn’t stand up right for about a week. (Concussions make you very nauseous and dizzy when you try to stand)

New camping bike for me soon , just waiting on the right one to pop up (Yamaha XT660Z) and then I'm good to go , been a few months since I cooked outside , think I did steak , mushrooms and potato salad last time I did a camping vid but I was on foot then ,so with a rally bike I'm gonna be taking the kitchen sink bruv .. proper glamping. Agree 100% about whiskey. I started my whiskey journey about a year ago. Just picked up Tin Cup last night. Very good. You also may enjoy Buffalo Trace and Bulleit Bourbon / Rey. Great vids, keep up the great work.

Those Morakniv are nice. They are cheap but sharp. It does the job and if you lose it it's not a big loss

You sir have just got your self a new sub. Excellent no BS content no outrageous gadgets and gizmos, rubbing two sticks together to make a fire. Simplicity at its best. I do have one criticism though I would have had them boots off a long time ago and into something more comfortable. Grate stuff dude, ride safe.

The ash doesnt stick on the meat somehow. You just pull out the steak and do a quick shake and you're good to go.

I literally just got back from hammock moto camping in Mount baker national forest on my WR250R and this video is at the top of my feed. Grilled up a fantastic steak over some hot coals last night with some whisky. It was one of the best steaks I’ve had! What I would suggest for a steak like that is to buy a cheap backpacking grate off amazon and grill the steak on the grate. Get the steak warm before tossing it on the hot coals (no flame). Sear it on both sides for a couple minutes and you will have one great steak! Salt and pepper only, anything else you use for cheap steak 😉.
