I lost my son on January 13 2022 age 55 from this and I also have it. He ended up with a mass heart attack. My mother also had this as well. I have it in both legs since I was a child. My son and I end up on a disability and couldn't work. I have been on water pills since in my teens. I am 79years old. I am so glad to see alot more information on this subject. Thank-you

It is my experience that medical doctors don’t know much about Lymphedema. I was discussed, angry and getting depressed. On my own for over 10 years. Eventually found out there is a Lymphedema clinic about 10 minutes from my home. That made my blood boil that no one told me about it. Now I watch many videos on this subject. Enjoyed your video. I wish you all would show the equipment used to control this hellish condition and show pictures of the skin on legs that look like the thickness of rubber tires an explain about little tiny skin tags that hold fluid in then and eventually burst and leak yellow lymph fluid. One can spend all day just taking care of one’s body and knowing there is no cure.

I have learned many problems are linked to congested lymphatics whether you have an official diagnosis or not it doesn’t matter. Study on your own. I’m not overweight and exercise well so my Doctor and specialist paid me no mind - “you are just a sweller, wear your compressions!” That was it. So I started studying my symptoms like crazy. I thought why not treat this like its congested lymph and it’s responding! My cognition symptoms are having moments of relief. Now I’m going aggressive home therapy. It takes quite a bit of time but I’m in a desperate state situation. I use a massager (vibrosculpt) on my lymph node areas, brushing, hand pulling, rebounder, gym routine, hydromassage table in the morning. Sometimes a walk too. Then another 30min routine in the evening. Probably 2 hours a day of PT I call it. But it is helping. When my brain started failing is when I started doing things like my life depends on it. I also am strict low carb and regular fasting. I do all of this out of necessity and many times I say I must do this to live. In fact it’s time to start my 2nd PT for the day. I encourage everyone to do their best and pray.

Thank you Sue, so informative. My left arm and hands started swelling about 2 months ago, At first it was thought I had a DVT even though it was in the arm but that was ruled out. I am 80, live in Israel and am quite active walking 3 - 5 km a day, eat sensibly, no smoking, a glass of wine once a fortnight maybe. 3 months ago I had hernia surgery and 9 months ago was fitted with a pacemaker. No doctor could put a name to what was going on with the swelling. I have been for so many Ultrasounds, CTs, XRays, Blood tests for infection then 2 weeks ago found a doctor who specialises in blood vessels. He sent me for a special 'iso' test to monitor the lymph system and confirmed Lymphedema. His recommendation was compression bandaging and sleeping with arm elevated at night. I have been enrolled to a physiotherapist who specialises in Lymph work and have my first appointment in 2 weeks. It has been mentioned that maybe during one of the surgeries when an IV needle was placed in my left hand, that could be the trigger, apart from this the cardiologist has emphatically stated that the PM isn't the problem as that was many months before. Now my real problem is that I can't play the guitar any more... and yes, I could play before!!! I see you were wearing the arm sleeve, but am wondering if the arm band is better for me. Any advice would be most helpful... Thanks again for a very good clip. Clive

I've taken time off from my Life in California to help my Mom in New Mexico. 3 weeks and the swelling in one leg is gone and the other leg has improved 60 percent. I supplement B3, Sellinium, magnesium, potassium and Vitamin D. She also gets a diuretic from the doctor. We elevate her legs high and I take her for walks. She also does some exercise movements white on her back.. like riding a bike movements with her legs high. It's getting better. We have been consistent for 3 weeks.

What works for me is laying in my recliner lift chair horizontal and lifting my leg for a count of 10, and doing the same for the other leg, doing this 4 times on each leg. For me this has brought the swelling down. Also walk as much as you can

This is much different than what I usually hear, which is WEAR YOUR COMPRESSION GARMENT EVERY DAY!! I don't and feel guilty about it, like my lymphedema will get worse, etc. That said, I do exercise every day and swim 3 times per week, but I have NEVER felt my lymph moving afterwards. Had no idea that you can actually feel your lymph move at all !!??

Chemo, radiation, prednisolone course for resultant pneumonia. Now I have Lymphedma left armpit where they removed a large lymph to acertain what it was (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) a golf ball sized tumor was also removed on the undeside of my upper arm. I now have lymphodema in the underarm, upper arm and ankles, not so bad on ankles, like little fat pads on the inside of both ankles. Anyway, I have seen people with those compression bandages, stockings, etc., and they look like they are making things worse! I have been physically doing gentle massage on upper arm and under arm, I just recently started this thinking maybe this could get the lymph fluid moving. What are your thoughts on self massage as one way to reduce the fluid pockets without pushing it somewhere else on the body as you said happened to you. Thanks for posting this, even Onconlogy doctors don't seem to really know a sane way to approach this condition.

The doctors could have at least told the patient that she had the medical condition. It's horrible that the patient has to ask and then the truth comes out. The patient then has to suggest treatment to the physician. Some of these doctors do not care. I am glad these videos are out here on KZread because the (specialist) physician is worthless!

Jaw and ear pain are also signs of heart issues. You need to check this with a cardiologist and make sure to talk to your regular doctor. You may have experienced other symptoms of heart disease without realizing it. I know this as someone who survived a heart attack and a quadruple bypass.
