[Sold] - $565,000 - (2009) Great Harbour GH47 Trawler Yacht For Sale

We have been fortunate to be able to review several Great Harbour trawlers since starting this channel, and not only do we love them, but our regular viewers do as well. When Eric invited us down to Longboat Key near Sarasota for the last every Great Harbour GH47 launched, we jumped at the chance!!
This trawler yacht is currently being used as a permanent liveaboard for the owners. Very few boats of this size offer as much storage, as many home comforts, and as much enjoyment for liveaboard extended cruising. As for extended cruising, with a range in the region of 3,500 nautical miles, you will soon find yourself heading to the Florida Keys, then over to the Caribbean Islands for a trip of a lifetime.
The yacht is currently offered for sale for $565,000 and if you would like to arrange a viewing, you can do so through ‪@greatharbourtrawlers6548‬ Eric Kraft at (352) 538-4843
Hope you guys will love this video.

    It's so ugly somehow but it's such a great boat inside. The cabin up is great. I'd probably go with this over any other up to 55' yacht. Thanks for the comparison and showing the differences. A Nordhaven 55 with 2 engines costs 2 times as much. Just put a bed into the utility room and you have 3 cabins 3 heads, same range and a great boat for the price.

    I've been fortunate to have been on many boats over the years, and I can't think of a layout like it. If you are looking for liveaboard or extended cruising, I doubt you could find better accommodation. As to the weather, I had the same thoughts the first time I saw a Great Harbour. They looked top heavy and pictured them rolling at the first wave. Now though, I would go anywhere in these boats. From the deck up is all lightweight core construction. All the engines, generators, tanks etc sit low. It keeps the center of gravity where you want it and they sail well because of it.

    It's a nice part of Florida for sure, but pretty far for me based in Jacksonville. Never say never though as I've now got a GH37 in Bradenton and a GH47 in Longboat Key already. Didn't make Gordon Ramsay as the plan was for my wife and I to put the pups in boarding and take the trip together. Unfortunately the pups didn't have the shots they needed for boarding so my wife stayed home with the dogs and I went alone. Didn't feel right going without her, so we will have to plan another trip soon.

    It appears to have an extreme mold problem in lower storage area. You stated these areas are great for extra supplies for long range trips. I wouldn’t use any area with mold issues. Mold spreads so if not fixed right away it will get to your food supplies. I have friends who can speak of nightmare issues and sickness that lasted for months. Check it out carefully. Can be costly to get fixed.

  • @GarnockReviews

    @GarnockReviews

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Larry, thanks for watching. I agree mold is not something you want to be dealing with on a boat. I never noticed any major signs of it on this boat when I was onboard. This one is now sold and I am not aware of any major issues being found on the sea trial or survey. I think it helps when people use the boat for extended periods of time, rather than leaving the boat unattended. Even if the boat was brand new, I would still recommend putting food and other belongings in some sort of storage container. That way if anything gets into the hold be it mold, water, dirt, etc then it would not contaminate whatever is being stored.

    I absolutely LOVE the space in this 47! I was first interested because it has only 4 cylinder engines and is therefore much less expensive to operate and maintain but have since fallen for the layout and room. I do have a big concern and that is the size...this boat looks like a giant floating shoebox and I worry that it would be a terrible handful in the wind. Is there anyone here that can tell me it is or is not?

  • @GarnockReviews

    Rusty, thanks for taking the time to watch my video and to leave a comment. I admit, when I first saw the GH47 that was my concern too. However, if you jump on Facebook and look for groups doing the Great Loop, you will see the Great Harbour line everywhere! They love them! That also includes being able to be handled in tight lock gates with other boats around. The twin engine design improves maneuverability and although she has the aerodynamics of a brick, she has so much weight that it helps keep her in place better. Most of them also have bow thrusters and some have stern thrusters for that extra push. Thanks again!

    Thanks Steven. When I first saw the Great Harbour GH47 I had similar concerns, but in digging deeper those concerns have been put to rest. The manufacturer website words it better than I can with "Like all Great Harbour Trawlers, the GH47's first priority is safety. It begins with an unsinkable hull, made possible by the use of a buoyant core material in the decks, superstructure and hull area above the rub rail. If the unthinkable happens, the vessel is designed to remain afloat until help arrives or until the crew can safely transfer to a life raft. Below the rub rail, the solid fiberglass construction is heavy and robust - designed to withstand severe impacts including an inadvertent grounding. The dual props are protected by twin keels, which will allow the boat to be dried out on her own bottom. Unlike so many other full displacement trawlers, the GH47 is powered by twin diesels, which add a huge margin of safety and reliability, especially when cruising far from boat yards or civilization." I would confidently sail this boat anywhere the fuel range would take it.
