    What a great boat in pretty much the perfect size for a couple to cruise around. I guess the only problem is that with only 150hp total you better get used to travelling at a relaxed pace anywhere which gets hard when you have guests that only have a few vacation days to travel with you.

    Thanks Bob. I agree she is the perfect size for a couple to enjoy cruising on. Very Nice/Video, well shot, very nice boat. This would nearly be a perfect boat if they had extended that salon/main deck just a little more to add a nice comfy living room area instead of the trawler style bench seat. Washer/Dryer is pretty common on boats over 40 feet, not rare I would say, especially if the boat was used for extended cruising.

    You posted this before I found your channel. A remarkable combination of engineering excellence and yachting comforts. But 'tall and shallow' isn't always a comfortable mix at sea and that bluff bow would struggle, with 150 hp of engines, to make her way down to the Caribbean. She would Queen of the Parade on the ICW and up in the Chesapeake.

  • @GarnockReviews

    @GarnockReviews

    If I'm honest, I was skeptical at first too. The Great Harbour does better than I originally expected, with an N37 making it to Hawaii under its own power without issue. They told me at the weekend they have the owners association cruise coming up where they head over to the Bahamas in a convoy. The top half of the boat is extremely light with a core construction. The engines, fuel, and water sit very low in the construction. This stops the boat rolling as much and appears to work well. Even on Saturday there were 5 adults standing on one side of the N37 and she never moved an inch 😉

  • @jacktyler7599

    @jacktyler7599

    @@GarnockReviews It's not easy to grasp the difference between a trip to the Bahamas and a cruise to the Caribbean. Until Georgetown, Great Exuma, a cruise south & east thru the Bahamas is day cruising and protected night-time anchorages, with perhaps one or two overnights. Georgetown goes by another name: Chicken Harbor. It's not far from there that the boater faces entry into the northern Caribbean. Persistent moderate to heavy Easterly winds, the resulting E'ly wind waves and the E'ly current are all there to slap you in the face for many hundreds of miles. Hundreds of boaters gather off Georgetown every winter to play & relax. Only a few handfuls head east from there and don't turn back. Just like the Hawaii trip mentioned, it's not so much that a GH can't make it to the Eastern Caribbean. It just doesn't look like the hull and power combo that one would choose for that purpose. Now....if we want to indulge in some pleasant mental cruising on a GH, I nominate it for the run to Bermuda. It's a much easier & also shorter route for the bluff blowed GH and its ideal after arrival for lounging away some comfy weeks in the lagoon anchorages with all those onboard amenities. In fact....sigh me up!

    Hmmm you would need a flat, smooth surface.........where could we put it lol. As to the speed, it isn't actually the engines that will hold her back, but the hull design. You could fit twin 1000hp and she would barely budge quicker than the 75's. For this one, you would be cruising all day around 7 knots and I believe she tops out at around 9 knots.

    Truly a very nice live-aboard boat for a couple and the 3 foot draft makes it great for cruising. But then I would guess this kind of hull design clearly has some drawbacks. I would love to hear from some honest ex owners what are the biggest drawbacks of this design. It is highly unusual hull design for a trawler and to me it looks like it might be a nightmare out on the open ocean in heavy weather. But then again I have never been on one and only people with experience can tell the truth .Another big concern for me would be 150 HP looks seriously under power to me but then again I might be wrong. Would definitely love to take a test drive on one of these in heavy weather. .

    Thansk for watching and for the feedback. I can tell you that there was a 37ft example sailed to Hawaii under its own power. They are known to be sea worthy boats both inshore and offshore. If I'm honest, one draw back is that they aren't the quickest boats out there. However, most people lilooking at cruising say the Great Loop, they aren't in a hurry anyway.

    Thanks again for the question. So the feedback I received was........ "Transporting a Great Harbour N47 cross-country by truck is entirely possible. However, the flybridge must be removed and set on the foredeck. Then it must be re-installed once the boat gets to the destination - all of which adds to the expense. I believe the best way is to ship the boat as deck cargo from Florida, around and through the Panama Canal, and then off-loading either in Ensenada or Vancouver. The Jones Act prevents non-U.S.-flagged ships from picking up cargo (or passengers) in one U.S. port and delivering to another U.S. port." i would recommend reaching out directly with Eric Kraft on 352-538-4843 if you want further info or arrange a viewing / offer etc. Thanks again.

    There are a few advantages. One of the main advantages in keeping the wheelhouse aft, is that in heavy seas the waves will break over the bow and not the helm. If you think of cargo ships, oil tankers, even some of the fishing boats you might see in Deadliest Catch, you want to keep the wheelhouse as protected as you can.

    This is actually a boat that could be enjoyed anywhere. You have a lower helm with heating for cold, wet days...........and the flybridge for warmer days. Hey Michael, thanks for watching. This one was recently sold. The other N47 we reviewed was also sold recently. These boats are always in strong demand due to low production numbers.

    Yes it was very clever of them to allow both top and bottom halves of the wheelhouse 'door" to open at the same time.😊

    Not bad, but insufficient storage for fenders and ropes.

    For some boats, I could agree storage is an issue, but I can't say that with this one. If this was my boat, I would use the 2 large storage boxes in front of the wheelhouse for ropes and fenders. You also have the massive walk in storage right at the entrance to the saloon if needed.

    @@GarnockReviews I prefer to have at least 2 sets of backup fenders, as my kids think it’s hilarious to throw them overboard when I’m not looking.

    Lol. I've got I think 3 videos with music but don't use music any more. It was a trial and error learning process 😉
