This is not a 2.5 million dollar Nordhavn and it shows in the wood accent design and finishes. Newer Nordhavn's also have standing room in the engine compartments. That said, this is a wonderful trawler and if you don't have to have the latest in fashion, this is a great live-aboard. If I had the assets I would sell them all to live my last days on this beautifully crafted yacht. Alas, some of us are only meant to watch, admire and dream. Cheers to whoever ended up with this beautiful vessel, and thanks Captain Q for taking the time to show her off.

I'm 70 and am still sailing my 30 foot Catalina... mostly single handed... in the Great Lakes. I'll do it as long as I can and am having fun.

You just gotta love the captains nonchalant type of humor, with the ceiling fan in the master bedroom being on the low side, “that could be real exciting”. Lol. And then at the end with Randayy saying that sounded a bit desperate and the captain reminding Randayy that he’s very close to the edge 😂🤣😂 you guys are so great together you really complement each other, it’s obvious that you’ve been friends for a very long time keep up the great videos

I’m a big fan of these Nordhaven’s. We cruised around Cape Cod on a similar itinerary to “Tugnacious” this summer. Really sturdy and cool looking boats. I’ll keep sailing though!

Very comfortable boat. Looks well setup for long cruises. It would be a never forgotten cruise for kids.

I love the fact that you are doing power boats too!! I am hoping that you can find some really affordable but awesome ones for us folk that are a bit older that don't have the stamina, experience, or the wherewithal to sail. The age factor is the exact reason why the FPB Yacht was created by the fellow who designed and built many race-winning sail boats. As he and his wife got older they still wanted to travel on the seas but weren't able to sail. Sometimes power boats are the answer. Thank you for this Captain Q and Randay!!! Thats my dream boat to start a family on, live aboard and cruise the west coast of BC. Its too bad im not quite ready for that yet. Whoever buys that boat is going to get a nice one!

Nordhavn is synonymous with great designs and woodworking. This is an early Nordhavn made in Taiwan and not the Chinese mainland as most are made now except for the largest models made in Sweden. Better made than the newer boats and they don't have the Chinese engines (John Deer) these have American made main engine and a European made wing engine. These are very thick fiberglass hulls that stand up to impacts very well. Love the boat.

I love how the front bolster is angled up on the berth in the pilot house. That will keep someone securely in place.

Great review and added alternative giving another option for stay close to the briny blue. It is sometimes nice to hear another’s point of view. Thanks again Q & R.

First it's a Nordhavn at an outstanding price. Even though there are some things I would improve she's beautiful and I never expected to see one of these yachts so affordable. I've dreamt of owning a Nord for a long time now, it's a real shame this is available when I don't have the finances to snag her. I imagine whoever buys this vessel is going to be extremely happy, they really don't build a better boat than a Nord...

awesome vessel you've found, yet again

I am also of the age where a nice trawler is appealing. The grand kids would love it too! Please do mix in some more trawlers along with the great sailboats that you tempt us with. I currently have a Pearson 35 of 1969 vintage. I rebuilt the Atomic 4 5 ear ago and she provides great fun on the Chesapeake.

Thank you Captain Q..! You did an outstanding job showing us this bargain priced Norhavn. Because of the fact that my beloved wife recently passed on, I downsized from a 43' trawler and just bought a new Ranger Tug R-31 CB as it is certainly more manageable for me. But that being said, I enjoy these types of videos where I get to look at other boats; big, small, power, and sail. I just gave you a 'thumbs up' and subscribed. I'll be on the lookout for more interesting videos from you! Well done sir...!

As far as powerboats go, these are exceptional, no question

A Nordhavn 46 at that price point.....Wow.

“Naiad stabilizer” this is cool, we have some thing similar on our airlines planes. The “yaw damper”, it prevents from an undesired maneuver called “dutch roll”. 👍 Trying to return some thing to captain Q!

The davits are holding the dinghy w-a-a-y out at the end of a long lever arm. Considering the weight of the outboard and the rib, I would worry about looking behind to find the dinghy had sailed off on an adventure of its own. As for the DIY upgrades, the install of the monitors portside in the pilot house could be much better. I think I am spoiled from looking at the quality construction of most blue water boats. In contrast, amateur construction almost has to look a bit shabby. That flying bridge is certainly an example - I think in a blow it would become a fly-away bridge, giving one the opportunity to re-do the thing from its base up. In general, I like trawlers and motor sailors, especially for their use of space. Losing the masts and outdoor steering cockpit changes the design constraints, and frees up better use of spaces.

Love this channel. Looking for a low 30' bluewater liveaboard myself.

Really lovely. Just the sort of thing I need when I am too old to pull up sails. But at only 77 I’ve a few more miles to yet get under the keel of my sailboat.

Great curve ball Captain Q and Ran Day! And it appears to be a great find! I often wonder when I see how high those trawlers are if they might be challenging in a breeze, or even magnify the sea state? I also wonder what it would be like to maintain one as I look at the luxurious quarters.

Belfast ( County Antrim) and Maine ( a river in County Antrim) and you managed to organise the weather to be like Co Antrim too..... well done Captain Q.

Came back to this after knee surgery. Keeping my options open for when I can no longer sail. You can get a nice used trawler for around $50-60 k.

I like to see you put more bolts like that I can see more of those like that that's the type of both I'm interested in

Hey Captain Q! So glad you made this video. I’m not there just yet (almost) but as we get older certain truths are inescapable so yes a power boat is in my future somewhere. Question (and really a recommendation), can you make it to the Pacific Northwest? We have some of the best coastal sailing in the world and a plethora of sailboats to go with it. You could easily film an entire season over here. I’m sure it would be worth your time. Thanks and keep up the great work.

so many lovely features for family fun!

This was from the Days Nordhaven were little ships. Wish I could have it. The new ones are nice but there is something about the oldies. You can see this has been used and used, not a dock boat.

I know its cheap, but that air filter on the engine doesn't pass my sniff test. TON of deferred maintenance on this boat. I can deal with cosmetic things like the paint being shabby(that's like paint the boat or new Honda Civic), the interior being worn doesn't bother me, reupholstering is easy. If the mechanicals haven't been kept up, you are just going to be constantly fixing things and having issues unless you bite the bullet and do a major refit and replace everything(like $100k+) Still though that is A TON of space for a 46' boat and I love the way Nordharven builds their boats, they're a quality product.

This boat looks great and am 100 % it has found a new owner by now, who will also enjoy taking her out to sea. Nordhavns are built to last and if you don't like the interior you can always update her a bit. Fully stabilized for just 200.000 USD is truly a steal. Just the stabilizers alone would set you back about 100.000 USD if you would think about installing them on a boat that does not have them.

You don't have to old and decrepit to appreciate a nice trawler yacht. Especially a Nordhaven, one of the top boat builders of that type of boat. And this one sure has all the bells and whistles. For the Pacific Northwest with typically calm winds in summer and some narrow channels between islands this would be a great 3 season boat. Thanks for the tour.

Do like that you added powerboats. I watch your channel with a serious face, and every so often my wife asks me why I’m cracking up laughing. I tell her I’m watching a yacht channel.
