Soft Painting Using Sketchbook

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

So when I decided I was well enough to spend a little time in my studio I was in a quiet frame of mind. No strong value contrasts, no loud music.... just soft colours, subtle differences, and gentle play.
I switched on RECORD, and this little session in my studio is the subject of this week's Vlog.

This was so helpful -- amazing to see how big the transformations were in the piece. I often struggle with getting to wrapped up in making the "right" decision in a piece and this really highlights the value in just keeping going!

" if i dont like it ill just paint over it" is one of the most freeing things ive discovered in painting or using any medium really that can be painted over ... following through with this idea has allowed me to freely explore and go all in and not being intimated with the idea of "ruining " a substrate or wasting mediums. Most of all its increaed my joy and relaxation in the experience of the process.... when i let myself go with this layer after layer i found that in the end i created somthing i loved and that i didnt think i could...

Love watching this over and over. Endlessly intriguing. Just one question. Thickness of paper? Do paints seep through to following page?

No they don't at all. The paper is quite thick but not as thick as watercolor paper.
