Thank you for sharing your tips on canvas stretching. I haven't had to ship my art overseas yet, but I think this idea would work if you had limited storage space.

Wonderful video. Thank you. I am working in colour pencil on paper doing abstract geometric 10 inch square sketches and I think I have found my visual language at last. Cheers.

I especially am excited by how you initially start. I like painting on ampersand and it's too heavy for large pieces, even when not shipping over seas. Thank you for your wonder tips!!

Just stumbled onto your channel. I notice no one had described their "Begining process". I would stare at the blank canvas visualize ideas, gesso it, get a feel for its size. Gather materials based upon my visions of Art piece. If something particular, I would chalk in or light pencil in my design to guide me. I keep a smaller canvas ready for the extra paint & to try out a new markings & color combos... Q: What sizes of canvas still ships cheaply in USA? 16"x 20" ? Or smaller? Thank you.

Interesting to learn different artist's approaches to the beginning process. Judy ships very large canvasses overseas in a tube. Any size can be shipped this way. Costs will vary.

Thank you, Judy. I'm one of those painters who gets stuck in a stage like your example and has NO idea what to do next. I hope you'll share your final version of this painting to us when it's finished.

@@judywoodsart I think all the available paintings on your site are really brilliant - but I can't figure out which one this ended up to be! If you could share the title, that would be great. Thanks!

Thank you Judy. I'm a sometimes glass artist without access to glass, so I would like to give painting a go! Really enjoyed the insight into your setup and starting process, but I'm feeling rather lost regarding technicalities with various media. Are you using acrylics or oils? Are you combining oilstick with acrylics? How do you adhere collage/fabric pieces? I'm prepared to do some trial and error but don't want to waste too much paint etc especially as I like to work large and would hate to see something that's working, literally fall apart later. Any info would be very appreciated.

Judy is using acrylic paint, oil pastels etc, multi media. Collage adhered with matt medium. Think of doing Judy's StARTs programme next spring as you'll learn all about her process there. Check out her website for more information.

Once it’s finished, will you take it off the panel and ship it rolled in a tube (especially if it’s going overseas?). Isn’t this problematic with the collage elements?

  • @carolinedowdell5810

Yes shipped in a tube. Doesn't seem to be a problem. This is how Judy ships them, art work facing outwards.
