Met him at O'hare airport once, many years ago. He could have blown us off, but he stood there and chatted for quite a while. He was so kind, friendly, and gracious. A real class act. I'll never forget that.

I met him in Green Bay after a show. Had the same experience: he talked to me for 15 minutes, just casual conversation. He was a great man! ❤

Love me some Lou Rawls. We grew up with this music. They don't make'em like that no more.

R.I.P To A Great Singer Lou Rawls, Still Miss You
I haven't heard this in YEARS!! Nice!
Lou Rawls was one of my Mom’s favorite singers! His sensual voice is so distinctive and unmatched! He is the epitome of Old School Soul!❤❤
Lou Rawls could have sang the phone book, his voice alone was a powerful instrument! You should check out Lady Love next!
This was a huge disco hit that packed the dance floor with couples doing "the hustle!"
Love Lou Rawls!
Can't go far wrong with Lou Rawls. Great stuff.
Lou Rawls was one of the best singers of all time. His smooth velvety voice was always enjoyable to listen to. Listen to the song Tobacco Road and Love is a Hurting Thing.
You can hear the 70s all through this song from the lyrics to the instruments. When that flute comes in it just takes it to another level.

Lou Rawls came into our store with a leggy blonde when he was performing at the hotel next to our mall and I sold him 6 white dress shirts. Great voice and long arms.

Love 'Natural Man' from Lou Rawls!
Lou Rawls' Natural Man is a must listen.
Lou sang backup vocals on the Sam Cooke song "Bring It On Home To Me " a great great song you should check out.
LOVE ME SOME LOU RAWLS❤❤❤
Some other soul/R&B men to check out: George mccrae - rock your baby; Rockie robbins - you and me; Major Harris - Love won’t let me wait; William bell - tryin’ to love two; Tyrone davis - turning point; Joe simon - drowning in the sea of love; Johhnie taylor - disco lady, cheaper to keep her; Ben e. king - supernatural thing; Wilson pickett - don’t let the green grass fool you; Timmy Thomas - why can’t we live together
Every year, Lou Rawls used to have a telethon for the United Negro College Fund. Jerry Lewis did one for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There is a song called "Let's Clean Up The Ghetto" with Lou Rawls, The O' Jays, Dee Dee Sharp, Billy Paul, Teddy Pendergrass, & Archie Bell. They went under the name Philadelphia International All Stars. Lou is also the 2nd voice on Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home To Me". Sam & Lou started out in gospel groups.
Uh...my new favorite song!!! Why have I not heard this???? Sooooooooo...groovy!
You have to review him singing "Lady Love". Amber will love it!
He was the best.
A Natural Man
Disco Rawls!! What a voice he had!! His voice is always like an old friend!
FINALLY 👏🏻👏🏻 one of my favorites songs 😊😊😊
Lou Rawls is grown folk music. You gotta have some hair on your chest to listen to him. 😂
When you say he has a crooner vibe, he originally is from that era. In the 70's he had a Massive Comeback!
AWESOME disco tune by Lou Rawls!!! He was a great singer! RIP 🌹🌹🌹
What a great voice, Lou Rawls. My favorite song by him is “Forever I Do” I believe it was a wedding song he did for his son or daughter.
They used to play this tantalizing great song at night clubs, especially Urban night clubs in the 1970s. The speakeasy mellow clubs.
Bongo drums are the short drums, usually mounted in tandem or played holding them between one's legs. The Conga drum is the much larger drum it can be mounted on a stand or played using a strap around the holders shoulder. Lou Rawls, from Chicago, IL. was first a Gospel singer and then moved to secular recordings. He spanned the soul music era and continued making hits through the Disco era and beyond. He was one of the few Black American's to headline in Las Vegas during the hey day of casinos such as The Sands, The Desert Inn, The Stardust and the Riviera. He partnered with Anheuser-Busch Breweries to raise money for the United Negro College Fund. UNCF's telethon, “The Lou Rawls Parade of Stars,” went on to raise more than $200 million for UNCF from 1980-2006.

Absolutely. And his songs were always about SOMETHING.
He was very handsome.
Listened to Lou Rawls a lot back in the 80's , he actually did songs for TV shows like the hospital series (ER).
The epitome of cool! Jay called it -- Lou Rawls could slip into the crooner persona if and whenever he wanted. Another *great* tune by Rawls, from a few years earlier, is "A Natural Man." Total groove, and his "declaration of independence" from the working grind.
Smothered in smooth. That voice. That smile. Loving it. Canadian Grandma Lori. C. 😊
Just good music. PERIOD
The smoothest, deepest voice. Pure talent. How ya doing? I hope you're fine
Listen to Lady Love. You won’t be disappointed!
"Lady Love", "Natural Man,", Tobacco Road". Just to name a few of my favorites by Lou Rawls.
Thanks for reaching to this fun classic. Please do Lady Love (1977) by Lou Rawls . Thanks again Jay and Amber 😊
I love this song! It's on my playlist right after Billy Paul’s cover of “Your Song”. Happiness for sure!
Jay & Amber, you'l love his "Your Good Thing (Is About to End)" and "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing" !!
Hi there Jay and Amber..great song choice..I grew up with his music..💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃
Did Ya'll Know Lou Rawls was on a Western Show Called The Big Valley in (1969)..
My mommy's music. Brings back such memories of her. Going to pull out the Lou Rawls albums right now! Change for a quarter for the payphone. Old school for real!
Played this at many a soul night in the U.K. and it filled the dance floor
From Now On, Groovy People, Southside/Blues/Tobacco Road, You're the One, This Song Will Last Forever, St. James Infirmary, Street Corner Hustler..these Lou Rawls should keep you busy
🇬🇧 Loved this, not heard it before (I know!). Im 60 now, & im almost positive that the only song played on the radio back in the 70s, (& now on the Absolute 70s channel) by Lou Rawls was/is "You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)". But never mind, i know it now (its never too late, right?). Im off now, to go check out more by Mr Lou Rawls. ❤🎼🎶
I had not heard this one in a GOOD minute!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lady love, next, please!
Classic 🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🇬🇧
You also heard Mr. Rawls singing a little backup on Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home To Me"
Lou's first big hit, Love Is a Hurtin' Thing, is worth a listen. Lady Luck is another of his hits. He was a classy professional.

Do you mean, "Lady Love"
One of Mr. Rawls last jobs was the voice of Garfield the cat for TV Specials
Love his voice
Lou Rawls is a great part of Sam Cooke’s “Bring it on home to me”
Great timeless song
Good song good reaction
'You made me so very happy' his version of the original song by Blood Sweat and Tears is worth checking out.
Lou Rawls 👍♥️🙏✝️
I saw Lou in concert in Baton Rouge and he sang exactly like his recordings plus some really great jazzy improvs. His opening act was Deneice Williams. You guys really need to check her out. "Silly" is my favorite by her.
Frank Sinatra described Rawls as having “the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game.” I also like his early songs like "Dead End Street".
Another awesome bass baritone: Paul Robeson. His rendition of "Go Down Moses" will send chills up your spine.
"Let's fall in love all over again" .... Try that one, Lou at his finest. Trust me, you will absolutely love it!
this my song grew up on this classic love it
Bongos are small and high pitched. You can sit them in your lap. Congas are about three foot tall, can be self-standing, and are deeper with more sound. Check out Lou from the 1960's.
You'll love his 60's song Dead end street (the hawk)
Isaac Hayes - Do Your Thing. Deep voices matter!
I Like his Lady Love.
He’s a disco crooner!
Great artist, great station!!
"save tonight" by eagle-eye CHERRY 🍒 Thanks JORDAN (jay) & AMBER❤
Such a wonderful voice. Absolutely loved 'Stop Me From Starting This Feeling' from 86 I think, one of my all time faves, still gives me goosebumps ❤
His version of Tomorrow is something special
Lou Rawls is my absolute favorite vocalist. I could easily give you "beaucoup" (as we say in New Orleans) but I'll give you three, "Early Morning Love", "Street Corner Hustler's Blues/World of Trouble" and "Groovey People".
Lou Rawls became a favorite of mine when I was 15. There is no voice like his! Check out " Dead End Street" the song that drew me to him.
Rawls does a version of the old tune One For My Baby that's so fabulous. For anyone who appreciates his vocal please check it out. You won't be disappointed!
And of course, there are no background singers on planet earth better than black women
Anutha flashback jam!
Massive tune in northern soul circles
One for the floor.
