I personally don’t mind the goofs of Season 2 as they’re always really funny, and they don’t detract from the great stories! But I understand those goofs might annoy other people and if they don’t like it that’s fine with me! (I enjoyed the video!)

I never thought the goofs detracted from the quality of the show.

One thing I will say, Thomas is meant to be an aesthetically grounded show and if Trains in real life had a slightly crooked headlamp, would trainspotters proclaim that as the worst creation ever made by man kind? These aren’t artistically refined masterpieces, these are industrial workhorses meant to serve a purpose, and said purpose leads them to accumulate wear and tear which is reflected in the slightly damaged state of the models The Thomas fandom overanalyses stuff so much to the point they’ve been so spoilt by perfection that any tiny detail is called out and exaggerated to the point of near Armageddon, and this applies to fanmade stuff as well A very well done video my friend, keep it up!

I think it's because most of the fandom have some form of autism (as do I) and autistic people generally overanalyze things. What you do with that is totally a personality thing though.

I had the "Best of Thomas" and "Best of Percy" VHS tapes as a kid and those both had a TON of Season 2 episodes. So that is the season that resonates with me the most.

Series 5 didn't feature any reailway series adaptations, it was only 1-4 that were heavenly adapted from the books. I don't know why this fandom is acting as if series 5 is something Awdry would have liked because he wouldn't.

I was referring to Season 20 but also acknowledging it only had 3 episodes based on Awdry-written stories. So in a sense, season 20 is more accurate to the source material than season 5.

I've seen too many posts like that on Twitter, especially ones calling Season 2 bad and making fun of anyone who likes it, and it's genuinely frustrating to me. It feels like the same people who constantly say "we have to respect each other's opinions" like liking Season 8 or whatever are the same exact ones who talk trash on others for liking Season 2. It comes off as very mean-spirited, hostile, childish, and unwelcoming, and that behavior would make other people feel uncomfortable around them. It may make some afraid for voicing their own opinions. Going around with that snarky attitude will just make people dislike them, especially when you say things like "fight me", "I know I might get hate for this, but...". This isn't me saying sending death threats is justified, because it isn't, but putting down others for their opinions is disrespectful. (On a side note, I've seen someone claim they've been sent death threats/hate messages for not liking SLOTLT, even though he said things like "stay mad" or something like that, and people replied "I respect your opinion" or "I disagree". I'm not saying the OP in the video is also faking or over exaggerating their situation, but with how some people on the Internet act, I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened here.) On the topic of Season 2, the crew did their best to make a good season. Even if they have their goofs, I say they did a great job. They did their fair share of hard work, just like most of the teams who worked on Thomas & Friends. I apologize for my long rant. I've seen this sort of discourse happen so many times it felt like time is a flat circle.

That's fine mate. Often I hear the Thomas fandom is a toxic place but I don't see much of myself. When I saw this blowing I thought there should be some kind of record of Thomas fans causing a riot so others can learn how crazy some people think, and what to do if they saw messages like this. That guy in the video actually reached out to me and responded positively which is probably the biggest compliment I could have achieved when making this.

I remember your voice and videos! The S2 Thomas photo is on the wiki from Thomas and Trevor. Somewhere in promotional images, and the 'platform' is actually a barge!

That wouldn't be "ThomasSeason2promo1"? The problem with that photo is the headlamp is facing away from the camera whereas here it is closer to the cam. Thanks for trying to help, I will pin the comment whoever can find the image the fella was refering to.

I don't get the hate towards season 2, it's honestly my favorite season. Sure there are lots of goofs, but it really doesn't take much away from an otherwise amazing season. My only real problem with it is that the stories Christopher wrote for the season feel rather out of place here and a bit forced. I think I'd prefer to have the 4 cancelled episodes in their place instead.

I don’t get the hate for it either. It’s a good season despite all the technical goofs; which is why I think people are hating on it. I personally think it did a lot for the series.

Season 2 of the original 1984 series - Something I can always come back to, and for good reasons. Season 2 of All Engines Go! - Something I don't even want to watch in the first place.

In other words Season 2 of 1984 series ages like fine wine Season 2 of AEG ages like milk that has just came out from a cow which has recently been murdered into a gory pulp.

Season 2: Apparently sucks because of goofs that don't even detract from the story. Also Season 2: Gives us Old Iron, A Close Shave, Ghost Train etc. Saying this right now, people saying minor goofs make Season 2 suck and be unwatchable are just being stupid.

Season 2 despite it's visual goofs, I think is still a great season and it's one of my favorites. Some goofs are more glaring than others, only today in this video did I become aware that Percy nudges a crate over. Everything else though comes together to make a season of good episodes; the sound design, the music, the models and sets, the writing, everything. Saying season 2 is a bad season purely because of its goofs is like saying Albert Einstein was a bad scientist because he kept his hair messy, look at so much they did that was so great. Also things like this is why I don't bother with Twitter anymore. Aside from having no interest in All Engines Go personally or any of the BWBA stuff, the fanbase on Twitter is so fouled up it's not worth hanging around. Granted this guy's original Tweet was a bit brash but I don't think counteracting it with death threats is justified.

I love season 2, but i don't mind your opinion about it. To be honest, my girlfriend love the goofs of season 2, when she saw gordon's wonky eyes for the first time, she laugh her ass off, and it was a cute thing to see So yeah, S2 is loved by me and my Girlfriend

Yeah, honestly it’s shit like this why I’m VERY casual with being in the Thomas fandom. Season 2 imho is easily my favorite season of the Britt Allcroft/Gullaine era, and my favorite of the two Clearwater seasons, with its story adaptions, intense crashes, new characters introduced, Ringo’s narrations REALLY improving this season and that nice, dim brown tint the original masters had to go with that heavy industrial look it was going for. I’d say honestly my only complaint with this season was how so many stories ended up being scrapped, including one that was obviously only halfway filmed (“The Missing Coach”). But I understand Thomas wasn’t at its best budget at the time it was being filmed, so 🤷‍♂️

Season 2 is my favorite overall, the music is splendid and a lot of important characters are introduced. Ringo did an outstanding job on this one, and they did a fantastic job at scaring the daylights out of me with Ghost Train. The first 2 seasons felt like something out of the 60’s and 70’s to me, the rest felt like they were made in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. The brown tint is really standing out compared to the others.

I'm sure there are some in that era but I already have my list. That video however will probably be the last in line.

I like Season 2 regardless of its downsides. Nothing is ever perfect.

All engines go should of never existed in the first place. For season 26, if i had to keep a new character for the show i choose Bruno the caboose, he seems ok.

I thought I was immature for some minor stuff I did (which I feel very remorseful for) But what’s Got the guy so worked up over a model lamp on a scratch built model train looking off centered for. There’s also goofs after season 2 and CGI Errors sometimes, If there’s one thing we all need to learn is from our mistakes and improving ourselves, then you’ll be a wiser Engine

I've been following this fanbase for 17 years, and they've always been like this, a tedious, pessimistic group of morons. They get set off by the slightest of things... When it comes to Season 2, I have a childhood fondness for it. It's not my favourite, and it has flaws, sure, but so does every other season. No TV Show is perfect, not even Thomas and Friends, and they're certainly not worth getting aggressive over, especially if it's just a kids show about talking trains.

Season 2 might be littered with goofs, but as a kid, unless they were really big (Thomas’ wonky eyes in Down The Mine, yes that’s from S1 but it’s my best example), I probably didn’t notice. It’s only as an older fan who’s got more of an eye for film production that I noticed them and even then they don’t bug me. I put the amount of errors down to the fact that filming was probably in a similar situation to Thunderbirds; they only just had enough time to get everything in the can (look how late the hours are on the S5 B-roll) and there may have been a case of “ok good enough - we have to move on or we won’t get it finished”. Basically, a studio facing a punishing schedule really doesn’t have the time for perfectionism and good enough is sometimes all that’s available. Season 2’s still my favourite season. I didn’t even realise the fandom (or, it seems, one person) kicked up a fuss over it. This fandom can be really charming at times…

Season 2 isn’t my #1 favorite season, but but it was still a very great one. The goofs are what makes it hilarious! And the crashes were also very good! With or without goofs, season 2 is a great season! (in my opinion)

Yeah unfortunately there's been a trend for a while now where some person will make a really controversial take that goes against the norm, and because of that, mindless goons will go "based and red pilled" as they push their glasses in and start spreading said opinion as though it's fact. Then according to memory, you remember a time where this opinion wasn't actually fact, and everyone just kind of assumes everyone's had the same experience they had with whatever they're critiquing. For example, the opinion that The Polar Express is uncanny valley and creepy. I have never met a single person in my life who thinks this or has ever thought this, yet here are all of these big KZreadrs who explain how they thought the movie was creepy growing up, and now all of a sudden everyone echos that nonsense. It's a genuine cancer in our society right now.

I honestly couldn't give a damn what these clowns say, I enjoy Season 2, it's a part of the shows history. Season 1 wasn't perfect, and neither were any of the other seasons, but they are all about our favourite blue tank engine and that's good enough for me.

Honestly I’m of the opinion that the show peaked during season 2, it was the last season that adapted the books quite faithfully and also had the most industrial settings. I sorta felt a lot of that got lost when seasons 3 and 4 got made, that was really where the production crew really seemed to take a little too much liberty with the sources and the sets seemed over-lit (especially in season 3)

Claiming that season 2 is 'dogshit' based on the fact that it has what amounts to a handful of visual errors is like claiming that a Distinction level university thesis is shit based on the fact that it had three minor spelling mistakes. Visual goofs are honestly fun to spot. Sometimes it's just nice to say 'tee hee, somebody put James' face on Edward by accident!' The model series was pretty technically intricate with some shots having dozens of takes, it wasn't exactly a walk in the park to make something with that amount of detail. Let things be flawed, things are made by humans and humans ain't perfect. In what world does a character being off model for five frames equate to 'entire show being dogshit'???

The hate for Season 2 definitely highlights my problems with the fandom. They always whine about the most minor things of all time, Even those that may not be noticed as you're watching as a kid, I didn't notice them until now. Yes, they may have rushed the season in production but it doesn't make it bad as you may not notice them. In fact the season was great. Sorry for the late comment

He ain't wrong tbh... S2 is a really early season, and i can say it did not age quite well... When it comes to looks, i like seasons 3 to 11 due to their genuinely pleasing aesthetic... (No, season 1 does not count here, because it has a totally different aesthetic to it...)
