Just a short correction, in the first coin part, the 5 squares actually represent the 4 yellow blocks plus the red one. I figured it out on my second attempt but I understand how it could be confusing.

33:45 Not only does Dash NOT have a UFO part, but it doesn’t even have a dual part! Even if you factor in the 3 spinoff games, there is NO single level that uses the Dual portal since it was introduced in Hexagon Force. In fact the dual portal only shows up in 3 levels in the ENTIRETY of the official and spinoff games where the dual portal shows up, and only ONE level in which it is used in an interesting way. Something tells me that Mulpan was behind this. The dual portal is even less used than the UFO portal.

That camera work on your fix for the tower was actually pretty good! I like the tilt at the part before the wave mode portal. It felt like some sort of pulse.😄

One thing I’m sure of about Dash: it expects you to have played custom levels before, not just only official levels. That’s how I feel Dash was designed.

makes sense to me. a lot of people (especially ones that played lite or a spinoff first) will very quickly check out some user made level somewhere. it's not too hard to assume they'd beat say, a gimmicky gauntlet level or something before reaching the skill level to 100% clear dash.

To me, Dash isn’t just a level, it’s Robtop’s statement. It’s him realizing that in between 6 years people have took the same game and advanced it way beyond what he ever could. If it feels like he’s throwing everything at the wall, it’s because he is, and it’s him saying “here’s a whole ton of things you can do now, go nuts.” And when the level says “Geometry Dash” it’s his “yeah, this is the new norm” moment. It’s him going “This is Geometry Dash now, and it’s wild. Enjoy it.” And thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Quick thing: with the ball part after the *spider* you CAN actually miss the portal in 2 ways, it’s just hard to time and I got it on my first try of it, and was super confused. 1) you stay as a ball and get sent at Mach 10 into your death 2) you get turned into a cube… and also get sent to your death at Mach 10

i love all the parts of dash, so i dont really agree with you on most of this, but i can definitely agree with you on those last 2 coins. the 2nd coin just cant be found for a select few, and that really isnt THAT much of a problem, but it's still an easy fix. the 3rd coin is just obviously stupid though. the first coin i loved because it was sorta like a puzzle. i sat in practice mode to try and figure out how to get that, and i actually never saw the skeleton's eyes turn green, i saw those squares right above the coin. it felt really nice to figure it out, and now i guess it really isnt too interesting, but i still loved it. i feel like a main part of geometry dash is just memory, that is what practice mode is for, and then you put your skills and knowledge to the test in normal mode, so i dont really see a problem with there being no indicators as to like what portals would change or if you will go sideways on a wall, like most of those can just be memorized super easily.

I don't think adding text is a fitting thing to happen when that sound plays tbh Edit: I just played the level again to see how it looked like, and honestly, the sound works as a kind of "elevator stop" sound already. Maybe RobTop could have made both the door opening and the elevator stopping be an instant thing so it would feel more fitting and satisfying, but whatever.

There is one more hint for the first coin, in the first part before you go into the spider there is a sign pointing right,when you pass it shows a green skull indicating that you have to click on the last block on the block part

The end part with the brass instruments in music is fire

In the part where he mentions Super Mario World, the part of dash he was talking about was remade within the game. It's the little details that count.

I think people complain about the lack of decoration in the second half of the level because it's much less diverse than the first half. While in the intro you have a lot of variety in the textures used for the blocks, in the second half they mostly stay the same. For example in that ship part, the spikes that you have to fly through appear on tall, identical pillars that take up the entire screen. Some more visual diversity would've been welcome, I think. It just looks too gray. There's also basically no ground deco while it was a big part of the start of the level.

IMO, the ending of Dash is a transition to the Tower, where the player will likely go next. This is reinforced by the fact that you seem to start in some kind of forest, then progress into a temple, and then find a secret way (omg geometry dash reference) leading to a... closed room, that you end up opening by counting to 3 backwards. When you finally break the wall, you see the mechanisms behind the temple that end up opening the entrance to the Tower.

The F block may feel weird for newer players, but a good use for F blocks would be for hold levels where you can use F blocks and put a text saying that you need to hold. It could be used in a way to make interesting drops without abusing blue pads or portals, otherwise, why did he add it? To just take up another slot in the editor?

9:22 yo I agree with almost all in this video to an extent, but I think the 3 arrow speed dash orb is actually REALLY SMART in terms of game design. Since it has become so common in custom levels, I think it sets players up to start on harder levels and even easy demons, which is what the last level of the game should do for its respective update imo. I think it’s a fairly seamless introduction Aswell.

It's not the 3x dash orb that is being complained about, it's the fact that there is a ball portal when the ball is never actually used.

What a great video colon!!!! I honestly think this was a perfect mix between criticisms and positive things you like about the level. I know you always think you're being too negative but this was a really good balance. And even though its 42 minutes long, I don't know why but I never felt like it dragged on. And all the bits where you show off whats going on behind the scenes or suggestions for improvements were done really well. Congrats on finishing such a long video, have a nice break after this lol 👍

Advice from someone that plays this game for 9 years now. Only play level that you find fun. If something is frustrating you to the point it makes you not want to play the game anymore, dont play that level then. This comes from someone that tried to beat hard levels, was too bad for them, got frustrated and stopped playing for months/ years sometimes. Always prioritize fun over anything. Its a cool game and I still play it a lot.

I only know TWO official levels with the dual, hex force and blast processing. I thought someone would be able to point that out but I haven’t seen anyone discuss it.

I completely forgot about deadlocked because I haven’t played it in forever (even though I still need to get the coins). But still, that’s only three levels with the dual!

People: *Finish dash with all coins after finish the other levels* Me: My first level that has all coins and i beat it before time machine!

Fun fact: Actually the potions have smaller hitbox than the portals (i can c It bcuz i have "show hitboxes" hack)and they could be skipped over with a single jump, but, if u c closely (with hack on), there is another hitbox (the one of the actual portal) and i think Its just a collectible and there is an invisible portal there (maybe the collectible rlly works and the portal its there so that u dont break the lvl)

I like your idea with the third coin being "reeled in". I think that on top of that, the coin could be fixed from a gameplay perspective if the "chain" that reels it in breaks and drops it if you press too many times, making the part more precise so you don't just spam it. It might still be a little easy but I think it'd be a big improvement from the current difficulty

I think a cool way to fix the first coin and the “only 4 hits when there’s 6 in the song” would be to make it so in order to get the coin you’d have to hit the same blocks as in the trailer, with an extra hint of them having question marks on them instead of skulls

I like the part that the portal teleports you to the quite room and GEOMETRY DASH

28:50 I feel like you accidentally made a good suggestion on how to fix the 3rd coin here: Because those blocks were introduced at the beginning of the level as an interactive mechanic (i.e. hit the correct blocks to progress), AND those same blocks in the single screen part lack spikes around the cube’s path of travel, maybe hitting those specific blocks could trigger the 3rd coin instead! It could even allow for visual feedback towards the player, as perhaps hitting the block would light them up or progress the coin into view as you suggested.

when the update came out, like the very second it did, I was on a call with my partner and she was the one to tell me, after we play Dash for a bit, eventually I notice the slight difference in the zapper and kinda make fun of the fact that she can't see red at all, it just grey, however she did help with the first coin because green was the only color that she saw.

I'm pretty sure the reason why there is a gravity portal before the confusing spider part is that i'm pretty sure that the first coin was originally planned to be located at the top of the screen which made use of the gravity portal.

If you always feel useless, remember that "Multi trigger" option on end trigger exist.
