@@_nopsy There are programs that allow you to basically create new maps. They're called Ahorn and Lönn.

11:35 this had only recently crossed my mind, but maybe the reason that it’s so common for the earlier edited coins to use new mechanics is because they were made with the expectation that players would continue beating levels one after the other, and then go back for the coins. With that logic, it makes more sense why robtop put in un-introduced mechanics for old coins when they weren’t necessary

but the coins are still part of the level? I don't really see how that makes sense, and especially for people who get all coins on a level before moving on. like, if a level is centered around a certain mechanic, then it would make sense to have the coins fit in.

You can tell the difference between experienced players and players like me- i was raging at some of the coins you put in s because they were so difficult. I also love unused mechanics in coins, gives feel of mystery and skipping ahead for the challenge. I also just love memory coins and portal recoveries, so we’re practically the complete opposite haha

The middle base after base coin deserves higher because of the music sync. Right when there is a weird part in the music that hasn’t came up before is when you have to go off of the path for the coin, which is a good indication of where it is

The fact that colon doesn't force himself to have a steady upload schedule is a big deal to me. It means he doesn't do KZread for views or money like big corporate cash grab channels. He puts honest effort in his videos which shows he actually enjoys making videos which adds a genuine sparkle to his vids. Every time i open KZread and i see a colon vid, i immediately get excited and stay excited watching the video. Thats why colon is my favorite KZreadr on the platform.

I love the first coin of Electroman Adventures because it actually goes with the beat of the music. It feels so good to bounce to the music and also collect a coin.

26:15 the last coin of fingerdash is the best robtop coin in my opinion.

The reason some of the portals were upside down was to hide the particles they emit. If they were the correct way around, you’d be able to see the particles from the main path and realize that there was something there. (This would make these coins 50x more interesting btw, why didn’t Rob do this)

Something I really like about Electroman Adventure's coins is that if you miss the first coin, the early placement of the second coin becomes a hint about the first coin being there

It does show the order of the coins, so if they get the 2nd and 3rd coins, they will see that they only got the 2nd and 3rd coins.

Secret coin? More like swag route to get a reward

Note: When I was beating Fingerdash, I didn't even collect the mini-coins for the third coin, and, when I finished the wave, I stayed on the bottom, AND COLLECTED THE COIN.

The first coin in Electroman Adventures is very easy to get but hard to figure out if you're a first-time player. Definitely a clever one.

I don’t know why but I always liked the blind fall secret coins it adds an element of “oh wow I cleared this stage but I didn’t see any coins” giving me motivation to replay the level and search for the coin as if it’s a mystery

Fun fact: The second coin in Clutterfunk can be grabbed by performing a precise swoop after touching the reverse gravity portal. I found that out on accident when I beated Clutterfunk for the first time.

The first coin in Electroman Adventures is probably my favourite of all the coins, because its hidden well, and the slight hint that it gives you is so simple yet difficult at the same time, and my favourite part about the coin, is when you're jumping up to get the coin, even if you miss the orb, you are still on track as you only get dropped off to the regular path.

Which annoys me because this is my favourite level, probably my favourite soundtrack in the game tied with Can't let go and Deadlocked. The second coin is my least favourite, you know why? Because of the goddamn hitboxes, it is so stupid to get and so unpredictable, the third one is easier than the normal path, so that can't be any good either.

I love the fact that it is called a secret coin, despite the fact they are usually visible, albeit often harder to collect than the main path. Same with jump pads, as there are also ones the switch gravity.

This is 10 months old, but I would still like to add that they may not be called "Secret" because their gimmick is that they are supposed to be hidden, but rather the path to collect them is the one that's hidden.

As a response to 0:16, I would like to say that I, for one, love watching these videos because they critically tackle difficult topics in game design. Being a game developer, I find the information you provide in your videos tremendously helpful. You're like the Ceave Gaming of Geometry Dash. I think that the little sparkle wasn’t the only indicator since if you look at the beginning of the level before the drop to the black room thing, you can see that those walls are only 3 blocks tall but that one specifically is 4 blocks tall. 🤷🏻‍♂️

In defense of the 2nd hexagon force coin, the recovery is not as easy as it seems. Years ago when I was trying the level for the first time, I found myself dying to the slopes after the coin way more often when I took it. Maybe the hard part is precisely that, stabilizing your ship after the coin (stability that is de facto given to you if you don't go for the coin) rather than the act of taking it.

Collecting Xstep's 2nd coin while gravity is inverted is a fun challenge that's made possible by the level design Also the 2nd coin of Clubstep has a spikes pattern slightly tighter than the normal route, and it makes it much harder because the first hop has to timed very early in order to clear them all. Imo that deserves better than C

Finally. After 1 month. I can finally watch some GD Cologne. This video has truly been a blessing, Without GD Cologne contents, I would cease to exist. Thank you.

My favorite part about the first fingerdash coin is that it's 100% timed with the music, making it feel like getting that coin *is* the intended route, which seems counterintuitive, but works in this case.

For me I remember being floored as a kid when I accidentally found the 2nd coin in Base After Base. Maybe it's nostalgia but I genuinely think its a fun placement, maybe it could've been more obvious though Also the Toe2 wave coin is way more consistent than you make it out to be. the COIN ITSELF is a good visual cue on when to hold and let go, and I think its easily an A or S tier coin

One thing to note about the first coin in Hexagon Force: if you flip just before the pad to get you back on the main path, you actually can go up to the blocks above, while still collecting the coin. (But if you do it too early, you won't collect the coin at all) This alone doesn't change much, but imagine how good this coin would be if it were the only way to get it!

Ok, actually for 8-1, that coin is pretty good if you consider the fact that new players don't know that you have space to jump and avoid dying from the spike. Trust me on this one.

As a new player, I 100% agree with this one. It feels like it is impossible and you have to time the jump a little bit so it's not free. Also the jump is pretty cool, A- from me.

But this coin located at the start of the level, so I agree with the C Tier. I think it would be more justified if the coin was placed towards the end of level, I would give between A or B Tier.

@@Lucasdabigboi Yeah, but I think not many people would realize about that because a lot of player will focus on the gameplay and also the vibration of the wall is too low. I think the vibration of the walls needs to be improved, so it can be more helpful.

I like the last coin in Electroman because the solid block outlines are the same color as the background, so it usually doesn’t become immediately clear to me that it isn’t solid.

21:18 Your comment on the second coin of ToE2 reminds me of your comments in "how gd teaches its mechanics" about Electrodynamix's invisible spikes and blocks. I am not a good GD player, I have never even cleared a demon, but to me, the Electrodynamix part with invisible stuff, which you claimed made it deserve an easy demon rating, is very easy, especially compared to the rest of the level (the ship parts 😩) because due to my slow reflexes and the fact that I can't look at the game closely at 60 FPS (the vertical lines and the slopes hurt my eyes when I do), I instinctively always look at the right side of the screen and I don't actually play the level that I see (since I can't focus on it) but rather the level that I memorised seconds ago, when the "invisible" blocks and spikes were very visible. I have not played ToE2 but based on what I can see, when the hole is on the right side of the screen it is very obvious to me that everything but this hole is blinking, so if I had the skill level to complete ToE2 in the first place getting that coin should not be much more difficult. (That said, my way of playing also tends to rely on memories of my previous playthroughs, especially "true dual mode" like in hexagon force)

3rd coin in polar Geist I can sometimes actually start doing that pretty consistently and I haven’t even completed an easy demon

deadlocked first coin should’ve been harder right now it just takes a tiny bit of skill either the swoop in the ship part needs to be harder, or getting the coin needs to be harder

I think the reason of why the portals are flipped on the opposite direction is that they produce particles, they have an animation for that, so RobTop decided to flip them in order to hide de portals in a better way, he really wanted this coins to not be discovered easily.

The first coin of geometrical dominator robtop specifically put the first bug there so you wouldn't die if you jumped and hit the ceiling

For the second coin in Base After Base, once I found the reverse portals, I used it in everything playthrough. It wasn't until I beat the level that I realized that a coin was there. In all the playthroughs before that, I didn't even realize the coin existed because of how quickly it was shown. The biggest F in the entire level.

about the second coin in base after base, I gotta agree that it's completely random as I remember that when I fist played the game I got it on accident because I jumped too early, and when I came back for it I forgot where it even was because it's not visible

I think, for the first coin in ToE, the fake wall adds variety to the visuals, it looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing than if it were just three sawblades

base after base no.2 can be fixed rather easily. I always found that jump really cool, it's interesting in a way like polargeist no.3. The yellow portal should just be visible (moved up) and then add some extra gameplay under the regular path before you come back to the main one

I haven't even gotten past 15% in Theory of Everything 2 and I've still gotten really good at getting that first coin. I suspect it's actually easier than the main path considering I don't think I've ever gotten past the coin without collecting it.

Coin 1 of dry out at 6:40 is actually a coin I have history with. When I was newer to the game I super buffed a ton of the main levels with an entire focus on hitbox and timing tech. The coin path was so boring and hard to work with I decided to swap the main path and the coin path since you can actually place flattened short-spikes on the singular top platforms and just barely be able to make the jumps from the double platforms if you land on the back edge of the platform. It was so difficult in comparison to the coin path I came up with (and the rest of the level) and the decision to change the two probably ended up making the most interesting coin I've ever added to a level.

I'm glad someone agrees with me about the unintroduced aspects worming their way into the pre-Electroman Adventure Levels. What I was thinking is utilizing those secret mechanics so they don't feel like an afterthought. Such as in Poltergeist or Back on Track. That would give them value and foreshadow those mechanics for people who accidentally stumble upon them their first time.

in my opinion the first coin of cant let go 9:00 I would say it should be either a d or c because there is a little edge on the one part where the screen turns black and don't don't land there unless you get the coin. wich that made me think about how there was probably a coin there

Only thing that would give it a D or even C- would’ve been had it actually had an indicator. Maybe the spots where you shouldn’t fall have spikes and the one that doesn’t is where you do for the coin. I also wish there was gameplay inside. Watch the “I revamped bad coins” video for an idea of what I mean
