Snare Solo “SPACE WALK”- (HEAVY LEFT)

Музыка

Sheet Music: www.davidreevesmusic.com
This fourth solo takes on more of a contemporary marching snare solo approach. It is to be played on a marching snare drum with a synthetic weave head. The traditional rudiments of the previous three solos make way for the flashier hybrid rudiments, and, if the player desires, there is ample room to add stick tricks and visuals to personalize this final solo in the set. Similar to the content of the solo, the backing track takes on more of a contemporary role, including a Hip Hop type kick drum/bass sound and many space-like sound effects.
So what is Heavy Left? West Point Principal Percussionist, David Bergman describes it as such: (quote) "Imagine a Drill Sergeant yelling cadence to keep the troops of a formation in step. He or she would belt out 'Left! Left! Left, Right, Left!' This vocalization was taken over and played by drummers for greater projection, the equivalent rhythm as Half! Half! Quarter, Quarter, Half!” (end quote) It was this simple rhythmic device that inspired the set of solos. The Heavy Left rhythm is at times in plain sight and at other times obscured and woven into the fabric of the work.
Please enjoy Heavy Left.
The backing tracks were created using the VDL and Kontakt software programs.

Just wondering what your approach to tuning is as I have never heard a marching snare sound like that before (I love it)

Your dynamic sensitivity is superb. I really like how musical you've taken rudiments too. Also, you're patient and allow your phrasing to develop. Beautiful bro, nice job! Utah Kid.......
