    Does this hurt the horse?

Yes. Shoes are horrible for their hooves and restrict blood circulation, inhibit shock absorption and contracts their heels. Just as it would hurt you to walk on a solid metal sole nailed to your feet 24/7. No horse needs shoes nowadays. Its a very archaic practice that is still done mainly because of tradition.

No it doesn't hurt them. There are no nerves in the hooves so when the shoe is either nailed on or put in hot, it won't hurt them. Additionally it's not for traditional purposes, it's a far healthier option than barefoot, because it can prevent abnormal wear to the hoof and injury.

Please disregard the above post by @cantiohorse. No, shoeing does not hurt the horse. Going barefoot can cause extreme problems.

A trophy for everyone... pathetic! Don't get me wrong I greatly respect the skillset and dedication to the craft but if it was me I would refuse the "military award" and work harder to win the real trophy. America is no different.... nations of "everyone's a winner" political correctness B.S. When everyone is a winner, no one is!

+Muddy Shoe It's not a trophy for everyone. There was a overall winner then the best military farrier. It's not everyone getting a prize.
