The funny thing is, in the Original Movie Jor-El surveys Earth several thousand years before Kal-El heard this message in the Fortress of Solitude. The AI representing Superman's father is therefore speaking about cave dwellers who hunted woolly mammoth for food.

Every time I see that scene, I wonder if Jor-El WANTED Clark to rebel? Given how smart Jor-El was, you'd think he would know to try to be a little more diplomatic. Say; the Earth is in danger, or something. (don't have to be specific, just say it's from a myriad of threats) Reinforce that the people he cares about will be in danger too if he doesn't embrace his destiny. Use a little guilt, "Care so little about this world that gave you a home to grow up in, that you would now selfishly turn your back on it just to embrace your own desires?" A little gentle prodding & minimal manipulation would have gone a LOT further! NEVER tell a hormonal teenager "You have no choice!"!!!!! You are just ASKING for defiance!

I think that yor-el wanted to have a bond with his son but not the human bond that we know since the Kriptoleans are serious people who express little feeling. first we see yor-el ask him: will you obey me Kal-El? and when yor-el sees the behavior of human rebellion in clark he stresses that he does not forget where he came from (that is, reminding him that he is not human and that he does not behave as one, yor-el wanted to save the earth at all costs and in his own way with his son and he wanted to have a loving bond father and son he didn't mind interacting with humans that's why he's so cold with them he once almost killed chloe in the fortress when clark was training)

I loved how at first you think Jor-El is bad but he’s actually telling Clark he needs to become the worlds savior. They flipped the script a bit in MOS where Joe-El was more nurturing and teach Clark about the symbol of their house was hope. And then Jonathan seemed more like the bad guy bc he told Clark not to reveal himself and maybe let people die bc he didn’t want Clark to be turned against by humans which happens in BvS.

Micheal Mah'moud naw fam Christopher Reeve past the tourch to him in season 2. They used alot of the character's from the original superman movie. Once he united the stone's he could have left earth just like chris did in the movie, & came back an adult as superman. Season 5 would have been perfect for that, instead they kept pro longing, not because he was supposed 2 play just Clark, it was because tom didn't want 2 put the suit on and play superman cause he didn't want 2 be type cast. That's been revealed already, so I'm just speaking possibilities that could have happen, & he could have became superman at season 5 when he built the fortress.

@@orlandobabe jor-el has the power to control clark because clark was linked to the ship, the fortress and the other kryptonian technology! The real jor-el created the a.i to guide clark and train him to fufil his destiny which is to guide and lead mankind by becomeing superman.Jor-el in virtually every incarnation of superman is deceased, but through the fortress and other kryptonian technology guides and helps clark, when clark was sent to earth jor-el sent all the knowledge of krypton as well. Everything jor-el did in smallville was to teach clark,to guide him and prepare him to becomeing superman, clark resisted thats why jor-el did the things he did,to teach clark a lesson and make him realise who he is and what he has to do! yes jonathan died as result of he powers straining his heart but this was just poor writing,in most superman storys jonathan dies well before clark becomes superman anyway, its one of the reasons clark does become superman as he realised he couldnt save jonathan,as it is in smallville.Theres nothing confuseing or contradicting theyve been doing the story in one form or another since 1939 what they did in smallville isnt new its just older story arc re-written a little, the final episode is where it all slots together clark finally understands why he was sent to earth, why jor-el did what he did,and why he must now become superman,a hero who can lead mankind and guide them to a brighter future by example,it would not have been possible if jor-el hadn't did what he did to clark, the ultimate story lesson from superman is jor-el knew he couldn't save his own civilisation on krypton, but he could save mankind on earth by sending cal-el!

@@orlandobabe yeah the writing got lazy but people dont realise the issues that show had copyright wise! for instance lois lane initally was not allowed to be on the show, the writers had to fight warner bros to allow the character to feature, crazy as that may seem almost more unbelevable is that warner bros were fighting a copyright battle with the family of supermans creator for decades that was only finally selttled in 2016 ! filming rights for a superman movie complicated the waters further as to what could be shown on screen in smallville,as for the 70s movie that was an issue as well warners didnt actually own the rights to the 1978 superman movie until 1993 when they purchased it from the salkind family and it was owned by a different divison of warners at the time, i could go on about other stuff as well like the showrunners leaveing then sueing warners but its all out there, its just one more layer to the issues superman has had. the one thing smallville did do was open up the dc universe but in my opinion in a bad way, they let loose everything from crossovers to multiverses and so on,today the shows are just a massive pile of spaghetti with everything thrown in,die hard comicbook fans love it but the average fans and public hate it, thats why marvel is unstoppable they have a more structured universe and make movies and tv shows instead of trying to bring a live comic to the screen.

Had he said, "Kal-El, you must embrace the path I set out for you and leave everyone behind to become more powerful. You may never see your friends and family again, but you will save their world." That would have made more sense. Clark would choose to stay there because he's not ready and it would cause some problems that didn't box Jor-El as a villain. Jor-El kidnaps a townie and deletes her to make a new Kara, kills Jonathan, and puts everyone in danger just to get Clark to save everyone later. It makes no sense.

Even worse is that the AI blamed him for the meteor shower because he didn't find the stones, but the AI never told Clark why the stones were important or that the stones getting human blood on them would cause something bad to happen. How different would seasons 3-5 have been if the AI just said "You must collect these stones, because in the wrong hands it could cause a lot of death and destruction, and the sooner you find them the sooner nobody else does"?
