This is really great! I have almost everything from the Small Faces but I've never heard this glittering John Peel session! Lazy Sunday belongs to my all time favourites so this one is very important to me! Thanks a lot! 🤩👍

It’s not a studio session. It’s a live session

So much detail! Kenney's drums on the end tag are monumental

As a guy who always loved the Who and wasn't really too familiar with Kenney Jones' work in Small Faces and Faces, I wasn't previously a huge fan of his drumming because I thought he was a poor fit for the Who in terms of style. But I've gotten into Small Faces and Faces recently, and Kenney was an absolute beast. Again, from hearing him with the Who, I got the false impression that his drumming was stiff and mechanical. But all the other stuff I've heard him do, his grooves are tasty and inventive. He just had the impossible task of replacing Keith Moon in the Who, and if you put Keith Moon in Small Faces, his drumming would probably seem just as out of place as Kenney's with the Who. Just goes to show that a lot of what makes a band great is having the right musicians for the style of music, and the right chemistry with one another.
