    Not sure where you are in Michigan? I am from Grand Rapids and have found gold in most streams and rivers. Gold nuggets have been found on Maple creek where it meets the grand river in Lowell. Great video my friend.

    Took Halo out prospecting in the cold today checking out a new spot. Wasn’t expecting to find anything, but you never know. Lots of walking for 1 speck......and I mean speck of gold. It’s the size of a pin head.

    Good to see a fellow Michigander posting successful hunting. I’m over here just north of the Muskegon area. I’m planning on panning some creeks this summer. Maybe take a panning kayak trip for a weekend someplace. Good luck. 👍

    @woody batter I have a couple of kayak trips I would like to take this year. I’ve kayaked them before, but never tested them. Next time I kayak them, you can bet I will have a pan and shovel with me. 😉

    Silver Sleuth every year we have a family tubing trip (oh God how I dread it) on the Muskegon River and there is a n island half hour into it that’s all gravel. But being a family trip I don’t have the chance to do anything there. Not to mention the million partiers right there. But this year I’m bringing my mega magnet and rope. And a trash bag. I don’t know how this will go with the whole wretched Gretchen thing going on, maybe a go-pro cam is in my near future.

    @woody batter I’ve kayaked the Muskegon river. We put in at the landing above newaygo and kayaked to newaygo. There was an island 1 - 2 hours down from the launch that was all stones. We stopped there for a break/refreshments. I didn’t have a pan with me. 😞 The Newaygo brewing company has really good food. Their brochetta appetizer is delicious!

    Where did you get your sluice?! Now seems like the perfect time to pick up the hobby. I'm in metro Detroit and have always wanted to walk down to the rouge River and try this out.

    I’ve had my sluice for almost 20 years. I have a link for amazon for the one I have in the description. I would get the new super sluice they have out now for a little bit more. With the super sluice, you don’t have to classify, but it takes a lot more water.

    What’s your opinion on the v of water running past the indicator???

  • @SilverSleuth

    @SilverSleuth

    4 жыл бұрын

    @J Dasko I liked this set up. It took a while to get it to set up and the material flowing through it like I wanted. I only have an inch of water in the sluice. However.....one thing I have noticed after the v, there is a dead spot in the sluice where the material doesn’t clear out very well. Funneling the water into the sluice creates a disturbance after the v. It’s like 2 rivers coming together and you have the slack water in between them.

    There’s actually lots of nuggets in Michigan. Idk why people say there’s not. Found nuggets in Lake Superior. Found nuggets in Huron River. Clinton River. Marquette. Mt. Pleasant.

  • @SilverSleuth

    You will always find black sand where you find gold. But.....you won’t always find gold where you find black sand. If you find black sand, there is a good chance you will find gold.
