You were on a cut bank while panning. It washed out the last high water event. Need to be in cobbles/boulders on the backside, or point bank. Thanks for saying hi yesterday.

My old stomping grounds as kid !! I used to watch to old timers I called them pan and sluice..Caught my best rainbow on clear creek next to washinton bridge on bike path...Love that area !!

Really enjoyed you on your home ground Shane. Seems you do have a lot of gold there. Just need a way to get it down your sluice a little faster. Plus - for this job; maybe a longer sluice, with some of that mat Lanky was using. Nice to see you working at home :)

Glad you found some gold in that area. I like this area because it's close to home and I find a good amount of gold to me it's not how much I find it's the adventure. Ill be doing a video on federal on clear creek because they were doing allot of digging in that area so I'm hoping they released some of the gold on the bank into the river.

There's a spot I found that has a really good clay layer with plenty of gold in it just hard to clean out the gold from the clay.

Very nice video...Sir..Why dont you use a good metal detector before panning?? .Which may increase your success rate.....i understand that the gold grains are realy small...But you may miss a good nugget...Just in case if the site has one....Plz reply...

Sure, I've attempted using a metal detector at this location (and many similar locations in urban areas) and there's too much trash in the ground to discriminate the gold from the trash. So we just need to sample pan around. Thanks for watching!

COOL MAN! I have a question, Have you ever used 2 sleuth boxes at the same time, in a line? Having such small boxes if you put one in front of the other, it might make sense! Thanks for a cool video.

Nah, because 95% of the gold gets trapped in the first 3 or 4 inches of the sluice box. Anything that gets away I consider normal, and I won't miss it. However, when using powered equipment such as highbankers or dredges, yes a longer sluice box can help since the amount of gold recovered will be higher, and that "missing 5%" can really add up. Try the platte river by hwy76 overpass they are doing construction literally on the river they have two excavators that have dug about 20 feet deep and more than likely have lots of good due to them digging that deep

What are the rules regarding site clean up? Are you required to disperse your tailings, or is that just a personal decision to be practice good land and water stewardship?

Yes, it's always a good idea to fill your holes / knock down your walls. However, here on clear creek before the spring floods, the river does the work for you, while bringing down new gold. Thanks for watching!

Someone once said that salt, spit or piss will also help break the surface tension in your pan... don't know if that's true or not. Have you been watching Parker's Trail on Discovery? He's in New Guinea this year and last night they were talking to locals that work all day long for 1 gram of gold... and that's what they live on.. Could you imagine living on just 1 gram of gold a day?
