Slipping Punches, Rolling Punches and Power Hooks - Boxing Drills Translated to Heavy Bag Work

Спорт

Go Here to Download Your Book - www.myboxingcoach.com - How do boxing drills relate to the real world action? In this video we build boxing drills around slipping and rolling punches along with delivering power hooks.
Combining defensive actions and offensive actions helps you execute a 'total boxing' style. You can build deliberate practice routines with boxing drills, nailing the quality of the execution of the slips and rolls and then layering on the punching skills - in this case power hooks.
So, in this video there are separate boxing drills along with a round of heavy bag work. One of the interesting things to pick up on is the non-punching contact with the heavy bag...a great way to make the rounds of heavy bag work that bit more natural.
Cheers
Fran

I sometimes stray from the path and am sucked in by other gimmicky KZread content out there, but soon realise what’s missing from all the other boxing channels. Depth. This is real coaching from a real coach 👍🏻

Nice video. Love the small details of your videos. I am curious about the left hooks being thrown. It doesn't appear you're fully turning the hooks over with palm facing down. I have seen some of your other videos where you stress palm down hooks. I know it's a slap in the amateurs if not turned over, but I actually find palm down hooks very awkward, and I can't generate the same power as I do when turned over 1/2 to 3/4. I also feel more stress in the shoulder when trying to turn hooks over. What are your thoughts on this.

Hi Fran, just a quick question. I always use the lean head forward like your headbutting the chest of opponent to roll under punches. I find it faster to get outside the leg of rhe opponent. I tried 'slip then roll' variation you showed here before and i just found it very slow compared to the other way. Do i just need to practice it more or should i stay with the headbutt variation? Thanks and also do you do online coaching at all? Thanks, stephen
