Also the draw effect from the cards ugin created entering the battlefield off of Kadena. she does read whenever a face down card etb draw therefore the spirits ugin creates triggers her as well

Actually, in this one scenario, maybe Derek SHOULDN'T have voted money for Expropriate. That would've allowed him to keep Mogis, and Andrew would've lost at the upkeep of the second extra turn unless he removed Mogis or sacrificed creatures.

Would love to see that Khadena list! Another great game that I very much enjoyed watching :)

This made me remember a game i played where there were 2 Purphoros, Mogis and i was playing Mayael and jokingly said "boy it would be nice if i play Gisela"... i top decked Gisela that turn and used... it was the most painful non combo upkeep i have seen with 18 damage done.

I always love seeing Slimefoot decks. He was my first commander.

I love putting Song of the Dryad on Mogis. "Here, you have a stick now."

I love to see a Mogis deck, I have one and it is fear amoung my friends.

Looks like Derek missed the extra 6 damage from the taunter, could've killed Chris with it. Not sure if it matters or not since I'm still watching. Edit: Finished the game. Hard to say if it would've changed the outcome. A good game though.

andrew as well. I think it would have really impacted how the game would have gone about. For example expropriate would never have been cast.

They're not face down creatures They're spirit tokens with exiled cards bound to them, so it wouldn't trigger Kadena, sadly

In order to be a face-down creature, it has to be a CARD. Tokens are not cards, and the cards linked to those Ugin tokens are in exile, not on the battlefield.

I have a scenario that needs explained. So I'm using Araumi and I encore Archfiend of Despair against three opponents, no blocks. How much damage is done?

A metric crap ton. Each trigger would see the life lost from the previous one. So each person takes 6. First trigger resolves, they take another 6. Second resolves, they take another 12. Last resolves, they take another 24. So assuming no blocks or other shenanigans, each opponent takes 48.

So, each player takes 6, and then there are 3 triggers at end step, 1 per archfiend. The first to resolve sees 6 damage from combat to each opponent, so they each lose 6 more. This makes 12 for the second archfiend trigger, because it sees the life loss from the first archfiend's trigger when it goes to resolve, which in turn makes 24 for the third. Total is 48 life loss to each opponent. It's 6 x 2 x 2 x 2.

The 5 color I think can lower the cost of the type of creature it becomes by all color so he would have said avatar and all avatar creatures are cheaper to cast

Had a game yesterday where the johda player played a turn 5 expropriate. I say money with my obeka and like one enchantment and the guy playing rogue tribal with two creatures and the boros guy with one both say time. I was like what ???? Rogue guy didn’t want Johda getting cards if his sygg river cutthroat so he got 3 turns instead and won.

Kadena is probably one of the funniest commander I have ever played, also she's quite powerful. You should really built her. I don't understand why phage is in the deck but I guess that's one of reasons why EDH is so beautiful

She can be manifested on the battlefield and turned face up by effects like Ixidor's, thus bypassing her ETB trigger.

Came to the comments to call out the dead ugin but I see it's been said enough

Oh, yeah... Pharika should've returned to Mark's control when Andrew left the game, because his controlling effect from Expropriate ended.

That sort of control effect doesn't work like that. That rule effects things like Control Magic or Willbreaker that say "you control [the thing] for as long as Willbreaker is on the field" when the player who has the willbreaker loses, the willbreaker leaves the battlefield first which ends its control of the creature. Things like Expropriate just permanently control the creature and if the person loses the game the stolen creature is exiled.

@@solarraine4902 wrong. 800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the game and any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end. Then, if that player controlled any objects on the stack not represented by cards, those objects cease to exist. Then, if there are any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. Translation: Even things like Expropriate let the permanent return to their owners since their effect that gave to the player a permanent ended when the player lost the game. (I play Zedruu so I have to know such rules lol)

@@DarkEinherjar I feel like avatars do have a lot of creatures, like the deuses and stuff like that, problem is that they aren't synergystic they do stuff more for the colors they're in, same with the gods as well, they need devotion but if you're running all different colored gods that's gonna be hard, plus they do things suited to their colors, honestly the best tribes I feel would be elementals or humans

Since mogis is the one that deals damage directly. I think derek might have wonnthat from commander dmg

I'm not entirely sure on this but I don't think the Ugin token is considered a face-down creature. The card underneath is exiled face-down but the Spirit token doesn't mention face-down creatures anywhere.

No, because Ugin doesn't actually create a face-down creature. I think that Ugin just exiles the top card face down, but creates a normal 2/2 spirit.

I know it doesn't really matter, but playing Bayou then using Nissa's ability to untap it and turn it into a creature would prevent it from attacking because it had summoning sickness since it entered that turn. Obviously he could've used a different land, but that's what I saw. Also, as others stated, Hour of Devastation should've killed Ugin which would've changed the game.

Nissa's ability actually gives the land she animates haste, but you are entirely correct about the Ugin play.

Sword of the Anime needs to give the manga some time to create distance, so we'll have to deal with Sword of the Filler for now.

When you died, Pharika should've returned under Mark's control, not been exiled, because you gained control of her while she already was on the battlefield.

Ugin Ineffable makes a token that cares about a facedown card in exile. Kadena only draws from facedown cards entering the battlefield. Despite commonly treating the facedown card as the token, they are not the same thing. No draw.

Pharika should have returned to Mark after you lost. At least it didn´t matter in the end.
