    It's a theorem I figured out about EDH long time ago: If all 4 players have built their decks 90%+ Optimized and nobody chokes on interaction, it will look like a normal-paced game 🤷‍♂️. What makes cEDH games end SO quickly is 3 players getting caught with their pants down all in on combo/ramp with no control while the mid-range player out-tempos everybody turn 3-4 🤷‍♂️. These guys all had perfectly timed interaction to stop each other from swinging momentum in their favor to kill all 3 players at once and had to kill each other 1 at a time! Excellent game today!

You can't fetch it, it slows you down, it can't be played early, that's just a straight up bad card. Also, don't get cocky for winning in one video where the hosts obviously left you alone. You don't NEED all top cards, but there's still a limit of cards you should not play because they actually are bad for your performances, at least as long as you plan to pretend it's "cEDH".

  • @maxiom7476

    @maxiom7476

    11 ай бұрын

    So they are using the 'London Mulligan Rulings' meaning that after they draw 7 cards, if they don't like their hand, they may shuffle it back into their deck and draw another 7 cards. The first mulligan is free, so they can keep a full hand. However after they decide to mulligan again, after they draw 7 cards they must choose to put one of them on the bottom of their library, and they begin the game with 6 cards in hand. Each mulligan after the first means they must put an additional card on the bottom of their library. So if you see 2 cards in gray, that means they had mulligan 3 times and of their 7 cards they drew, those were the 2 they put on the bottom of their library.

    Shaun here. The plan was to Pod the commander into a Godo + Helm win. Bouncing the Mana Vault was necessary to have the mana to equip Helm. I agree the timing of the bounce spell on the Vault might have been weird, but it would have worked out a lot worse if I had podded away the commander into Godo immediately because then Helm would have gotten blown up. Keeping the commander around to draw cards and threaten removal is way better than having Godo in play and Helm in yard.

    Well, there's "not having infinite" and there's "playing sub-par cards with dubious tactical choices". Caldera is a straight out bad card, smelt isn't good, that sheoldred at the end is way too slow, so the slimefoot n squee deck can easily be upgraded. Lotho missed its trigger and didn't use extort once. Puzzle box ? Dead-eye navigator ? I'm not saying those are bad decks, I'd be thrilled to play with or against those in a regular edh evening, but that was definitely not competitive, and if it's not competitive, it's by definition casual.
