So to answer my own question: Both Ashani and Alex were on 12 commander damage, Where Cal was on twenty.

Goaded slicer can't attack planeswalkers (Minsc and Boo)

RIP to Ryan needing to say "He gains control of Slicer" six hundred times

Up there with any game involving Norin the Wary. Was playing some casual and the Norin player got Norin and Confusion in the Ranks out and let me tell you that game was a test in endurance in figuring out what happened when ever anyone did ANYTHING.

What a long way edh has come. Imagine a player from 2006 coming into this game and seeing a planeswalker, a vehicle, two creatures at once, and a freakin TRANSFORMER in the command zone.

Oh, yeah... goaded creatures can only attack planeswalkers if they can't fulfill the "attack a player other than you if able" requirement, so Slicer shouldn't have been able to attack Minsc and Boo outside Drake's turn.

It's games like these that I'd like to see a commander damage counter. At least for the videos where commanders are smashing into other people

I love that Cal's copy of Slicer is Dan-Dan. XD

It si not always needed, but in this case I would've loved to see a commander damage tracker. I lost track of how much commander damage Slicer dealt. It wasn't relevant at the end, but wouldn't mind having that piece of info on screen.

I think dropping a tangle wire before slicer was a sad play. those turns of tapping essentially your opponents entire boards could have been spent killing them as well

Agree. I won a game last week that way. I got two full turn cycles with Tangle Wire out before Slicer was removed.

Okay, but Minsc and Boo has a second ability, though. It lets you draw cards and kill things; it's really good.

I was wondering why he didn't go infinite treasures and sac boo to draw 10 and cast them all before torpor orb came down. Unless I missed something.

@@Zackeus1992 Didn't have enough mana to fire it off. (Needed 4 minimum - 2 for Sabertooth and 2 to recast Dockside.)

My favorite part of the game is where slicer said "it's slicing time" and sliced all over the table

Judging by the comments, some people have never heard of the concept of regeneration in MtG. Man I feel old.

Exactly what I said. Slicer needs to drop on t1. It is not a normal stax deck. You stax after slicer hits not before.

Not sure what Cal was doing that game.

Why didnt cal sacrifice the 7/7 boo in the beggining? Once the fading counters hit 2 I would assume that you would get more value just drawing 7 cards since there was a high likelyhood that a haste creature would come out and kill monsc

Generally speaking you want to drop slocer on t1 not t3. The deck is very fast but doesnt do the midgame very well

Can someone explain what was up with Cal? I didn’t see anything blocking the infinite Sabertooth Dockside combo until 8:21 Torpor Orb, and I don’t see why he didn’t sacrifice the 7/7 Boo to draw which is surely enough.

I think he didn't go for the combo because he was playing around open blue mana; I have no idea why he didn't sac Boo.

@@seanmurphy3430 True, 7:23 Ashani had 2 open blue mana. That said you can't just play around that forever. IMO the failure to sac Boo was super omega greed. Probably was gonna keep ticking up to 20 at that rate.

He didn’t have enough mana to start the loop the turn Temur sabertooth came down and afterwards blind obedience stops him.

I loved this game. Let's see an all Transformers as commanders CEDH game. I think they are powerful yet funky, but funky brings the best gameplay.

Did someone gain control of Slicer? I don't think I heard you say that during this game.

It might be nice to also show the backside of DFC commanders in the intro so we get a chance to read it, especially ones a little less common like Slicer. (Also it's a little strange looking to watch it spin in with a regular Magic back!)

Why does Tangled Wire resolve before Slicer’s upkeep ability?

They are both upkeep triggers that trigger at the same time. Since they do, you can stack them to resolve however you want.

He had 3 treasures at the time I believe. So returning it to his hand and recasting it wasn't possible. I might be wrong but I wondered why he didn't go infinite at the time .

Would have given the most valuable card to blind obediance, stoping comboes and enabling one was relevant enough

I thought you couldn't play blind obedience without black? Is that only for hybrid mana in the casting cost?

You can. The hybrid symbol is in the reminder text, which isn’t included when determining the color identity of a card.

12:33 does the legend rule not cause a player to forcibly sacrifice one of the creatures? Therefore, since when an opponent gains control of slicer and it gains “cannot be sacrificed” the PhImage would have been the only option to sac?

The legend rule doesn't make someone sacrifice: *704.5j If two or more legendary permanents with the same name are controlled by the same player, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “legend rule.”*

Right, but he discard the card that he don't need (he Need only three cards of his deck in that Moment), he uses the mana from mox diamond to extort blind obidience

"Draws his deck" is essentially shorthand for "he can draw as much as he needs to" and then he cast Mox Diamond to get the colored mana with the Reversals

They must have changed the rule of extort because usually you wouldn't be able to play blind obedience in a white/blue deck. I think that rule was a slight change that probably didn't need to happen..

Why didn't the Chalice die to Culling Ritual?

The mistake in this game was not attacking the same player with Slicer.

He didn’t appear to have a draw engine and there were two other Red Players at the table. He probably didn’t want to feed another possible Dockside.

Too many folks being harsh to Cal. M&B is a surprisingly difficult deck to play, especially the storm version. It can be really unforgiving if you don't know when you go for the -2 Still a really good showing Cal! If you're interested in the deck more, I'd love to help 🐹💖

Maybe im missing sonething but why the minsc olayer didnt combo with temur and dockside?? He could won the game on turn four. Infinite mana recast minsc draw ten cards.

Doesn't Kal have infinite treasure's with Temur Sabertooth and Dockside? Why not make a gazilion treasures even without a wincon in hand?

Minsc and boo player could have tapped due to tangle wire and then make another hamster because tangle wire happens before the ability to make another hamster. Missed 4 damage or an extra card.

But you cannot activate playnswallers at instant speed so he had no way of sacking boo with tangle on the stack

I might be wrong but wouldn't the chalice of the void have been destroyed by the culling ritual because it would have met the converted mana cost to be hit by the spell.

Hey PWP! I know y'all need to pay the bills and all.. But is it really necessary to put the plug for your socials *after* the deck introductions? We already sat through the intro/advert, feels kinda bad to have the flow interrupted yet again by something us regulars likely already know anyway. I mean, thanks for the content, do what you gotta do, I respect the hustle and whatnot. Just a thought. :)

If Goaded Slicer is cloned wouldnt you have to sacrifice the clone to legend rule since goaded slicer can't be sacrificed?

That's the reason why Ryan narrates that "it's put into the graveyard as a state-based effect." It's not being sacrificed.

At 12.10, how did the calice survive culling rit? He sacced the other artifact to regenerate it, but it was before the culling rit resolved, so useless? Not getting the interaction there

They were missing torpor orb so much like the pilot that blocked after the lanawar elves should have been tapped but was still used to block 😅 and other similar patterns but magic is hard I understand

Drake sacrificed Welding Jar in response to Culling Ritual to regenerate Chalice.

Dear Ryan, maybe you crack your absolute monstrous jokes a bit later in the middle of the video because I laughed so hard on Boo probably having Rabies I wasn't able to continue to watch.

Put good players on the next video. I guess Cal wanted a 40/40 Hamster, and Drake could of done a turn 1 Slicer.

This did not feel like a cedh game

It think if you Copy Slicer you have to sacrifice your copy to the legend rule as the original can’t be sacrificed
