"So for now let me serve as a living drama for your pain If we are to be submerged let us be submerged Together" My initial interpetation is, someone who already carries so much, offering to bear the emotional weight, allowing others to live through them, even though they feel like they have so little to give and so much hurt. I had listened to this song several times before watching the music video, and seeing those words flash on the screen felt simultaneously like a hug and like an icicle stabbed into my chest. He gives so much to us in his music, by wearing the mask, it feels like we can feel through him, you can see yourself reflected back, and he wants us to be able to have that comfort, even though he's scared too. We can be scared together, we can feel the pain together. I love Sleep Token

Ehhh, not by a long shot. I think you can only say this if you haven't heard their whole discography. Music is subjective, and it's perfectly valid if this is the song that speaks to you on those levels most. But when it comes to tonal, lyrical and emotional heaviness, when it comes to their integrity, objectively speaking, this is pretty low down on the ST scale of songs.

@@fe4rr74 I could name about 25 songs here that are much more tonally, lyrically and emotionally heavy than Fall For Me. Saying this is THE top one completely undermines Sleep Token as a whole, or just purely misunderstands the intention of each song, which is to have multiple, or 'double' meanings. If one were to argue this song is their most vulnerable as the people behind ST themselves, then that might be right. But it's definitely not the most heavy in other regards. Check out their earlier releases like One, Two, and Jaws. There's already some stuff there that's undeniably very high on the scale, but that's not all.

That shouted ‘oh god I wish you where here’ gets me EVERY time.

Sleep Token are becoming something more that just a band in my life. Worship.

The line "With my love as your garden" gets me every time. So much beauty and devastation in simple words...

Imagine loving someone so much that doesn't feel the same as you and knowing that regardless of what happens you feel as if you are bound to those feelings for eternity. Forever longing for the love to be reciprocated, hence "Won't you fall for me?". The way that Vessel portays the idea in the lyrics of this song is absolutely beautiful and incredibly devastating upon further reflection. Absolutely gorgeous melodies and the use of the harmonizer in this song is absolutely wonderful. Hitting all the feels with this one. Love this. W O R S H I P

It's like she has a spell on me.. when I'm away from her I know FULL WELL she does not really care about me. it doesn't make sense. and I know for a fact that even though I told EVERYONE I'm done with her for good.... that if she came up to me and asked me if we could fix things.. I was just reading somewhere that "city of ice" is another term for the bottom of the ocean, and the "burning cathedrals" refer to natural hydrothermal vents that emit chemicals which deep sea creatures feed off of (I remember learning about this from The Magic School Bus, but the terms are new to me), while "fall for me" refers to both falling in love and "fallen whales," ie whale corpses which float to the bottom of the ocean which those same sea creatures feed off of, circle of life and all that. If that's the case, then the lyrics can be interpreted as "I'm sinking and I need you to dive down and save me" or "I've already sunk, I need you to dive down here and be with me so at least I can suffer with someone I love." I'm guessing that, in this video, the ocean is receding, leaving a desert in it's place, and the guy is trying to get back to the bottom of the ocean were he feels he belongs, like how when you're feeling hopeless, all you want to do is stay in that state because, as bad as it is, you're just so familiar with it that it feels "right." Heavy stuff. EDIT: Just rewatched the video. I get it now: it's a suicide song. He's begging someone he loves to talk him out of killing himself. When he screams "OH GOD I WISH YOU WERE HERE!" while the words "I just can do this any longer" flash on the screen, he's saying "I don't want to go through with it, but I'm afraid I will if you don't stay here with me in my time of need" (since suicide isn't the desire for death, just the desperation to not live with depression any more). "I want to, want to, live," I think, speaks for itself. EDIT EDIT: Ok, I didn't know about this band having a sort of mythology about it, now understand that all of their songs are Vessel singing to Sleep. Still, I like that it's at least a little open to interpretation. EDIT EDIT EDIT: I've changed my mind, I don't think this is a suicide song any more. I think I was getting it too mixed up with the message in the music video, but the song itself is more of an "I love you, God" song. Y'know, "Oh Lord, help me in my darkest hour, lift me out of the darkness and show me the way," etc. But I also think it's an unrequited love song FOR God, or in this case Sleep. Listening to the rest of this band's output, I feel safe in saying that a). Vessel is more devoted to Sleep than Sleep is devoted to him, and b). the lore is mostly arbitrary and really just there for fun.

I know this is an old comment now, but I just wanted to say that all your interpretations are valid and most likely meant to be read that way. You've genuinely taught me about the whale fall and hydrothermal vents idea of this. Sleep Token are a fantastic band and their songs are often incredibly emotionally raw and speak of very dark times they've gone through. They so very often refer to scientific or biological functions as metephors within their lyrics (Alkaline anybody?). I love the lore of Sleep and all the songs being in worship of It, its what got me in to them in the first place, but I personally feel its a framing device for a gimmick of intriguing anonymity. The masks are a protection against the vulnerability these songs speak of. I guess my point is, there are layers within layers to the image, music and presentation of this band, and I honestly think that if a theory ever occurs to you for a song, chances are it was intended as a possible reading for it. Anyways, I hope you are well and worship ❤

And everything I’ve tried to do, nothing has made it any better. I’m 51, and this Sat past whilst alone at home out on the balcony, I’d finally hit my breaking point. After holding on for all this time. And I stumbled onto ST for the very first time, and this specific vid. It’s unreal. A shockingly complete articulation of my inner being in under 3mins, and by complete strangers no less. And yes, I’d sent the link of it to my wife. But I honestly didn’t know why. Thank you.

Through echoing futures are the buckling sutures....sutures don't beckon, they buckle over time.

This song is a beautiful insight to vessel beyond the mask. Whilst we all wish not to know who he is directly. This look into his battle against his own person is a unique take for Sleep Token. Its simply Vessel letting it out, no drums, no guitars, no piano, just him, vocalising what he feels. Despite not having any instrumentals, i perosnally see this as their heaviest song, thst i for one reasonate with. Its that sinking vulnerability that a lot of people feel, its dark and almost disturbing. And Vessel, unmasked, reveals this vulnerability in such a poetic way. This is why i love this band so dearly. Worship.

I personally like to believe this is Vessels love song to us, the worshippers, because despite his pain he knows we love him no matter what demons are hiding behind the mask, and yes we have all fallen for him.

This song is hauntingly beautiful. It puts me in almost a subspace sort of state. I cry ugly tears, every single time I hear it. I have watched this video more times than I can count, and probably more than healthy for my current mental state. I stare, open-mouthed and dead eyed, at the screen as my soul shatters and my heart breaks. So, it should really come as no surprise to me that I was today years old when I found out the words on screen between scenes are *another* beautifully written and soul shaking masterpiece. Vessel is a fucking genius. WORSHIP 🙌🏻💙

I heard this on spotify first and did agree that this feels like an album break song and couldn't understand why it was released as a stand alone single one week before the album. But watching the video I was captivated, there he goes into the water... and I am now ready for This Place Will Become Your Tomb

This intense heartbreak and depression led him to surrender himself to the sea and in his sinking to the ocean floor he was saved by the entity known as Sleep and thats how he got his "powers" and ended up in that trial by combat from the last video...stuck in purgatory until he masters his new abilities. Smh, Sleep Token you’ve done it again. Some of the fanbase needs to realize that sleep token isn’t all about those tasty chugga chuggas and BAOOOO BAOOOO’s. This band has always had an emphasis on these massive a lush electronic and choral elements. This so not out of character and anyone who has heard all of there discography shouldn’t be surprised. This is so damn good and the visuals just elevate it even higher.

The fanbase doesn't need to realize anything. Some people (including me) enjoy the heavy side of Sleep Token more than the electronic/vocoder side. Others might think the opposite, and that's totally fine. Gatekeeping which fans gets the band or the music the best is just pretty lame.

sleep token releases a prelude/interlude kinda track and man even that is beautiful to put on repeat.

This is still one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Coming back to this video feels like such a forbidden treat, a glance behind the curtain. Following Vessel into the deep, willing the tide to pull us further under the waves. Blissful submersion 🩵

The best thing about Sleep Token is that they manage to make literally any kind of music sound great. From Gods to this, they’re both equally great. Cannot wait for next Friday!

I have never ever in my entire life heard something so catchy, meaningful and unique. This straight up is a gem and art at the same exact moment. Without any beats, their signature drums, they managed to catch the listeners heart. Jesus christ with only one what, rhythm? Dude, this band is going big in no time. I promise

I think its city of ice not vines. It makes sense too because of the later line of turning the skies into glass. Ice is very reminiscent of glass. I could make a lot more allusions to ice and cold and cities that could fit the theme of the song more so than vines. But on the same note.. vines would be more realistic; post apocalyptic scene with nature retaking cities.. and buildings catching fire etc.

Man, as good as the song is on its own merits, the on screen text just produces a visceral reaction in me every time. Quit making me feel things, it's painfully cathartic and I don't know how to deal with it.

I rarely do this, but I have to thank Sleep Token for their music. There is music that the Gods deigned to touch our souls. This is one for me

I love that the sound changes and you never know what to expect with Sleep Token. People would complain if the album sounded exactly the same as the last one. Can’t please everyone. There’s nothing out there like this band, and their diversity and how they make each sound fit into the next make them stand out. Ready to get emotional next week!

This may be my fave ST song forever. This video just takes it to such a high level and I've been coming back for years

Definitely not what I was expecting but I'll take it! Can't wait to see what the whole album has in-store, can never go into a ST album with expectations since they're so unafraid of pushing boundaries!

This is absolutely one of those songs that's beautiful in its simplicity where less is more. It makes it more emotional.

Completely feels like the man's perspective of Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek. I kind of love it, the dichotomy of a woman who falls in love with a married man but is seeing or recognizing the carnage of a family torn apart... and then this song where he refers to his past wounds and his fractured existence almost begging her to fall for him to the end as if to have it all not be in vain.

Good lord. The music combined with the words on the screen... A song has never made tear up or cry before until now.
