Sleek safety razor by Pearl Shaving - First shave

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

What's the unboxing without actual use and initial impressions with a brand new razor? In this video I'm testing Pearl's Sleek (single-edge) razor for the first time, as a daily shaver.

Just tried my Pearl SE razor for the first time today. Other than figuring out how to load the blade and tighten the handle without it moving the blade, once it was aligned and locked down, the shave was similar to how @wicked-whiskers mentioned. Kind of felt too familiar (kind f like disposables- not in a bad way, just intuitive) and I shaved too quickly. Not super efficient, but not bad either. Had more audible feedback than I expected cutting the whiskers. I was not sure if this was designed to ride the cap or ride the bar. I tried both ways but it seemed to work equally. I also felt it worked better ATG than the initial WTG pass. For the price I would recommend this. Compared to the Parker SE, it's too early to say, but my initial thoughts are I prefer the Parker. Compared to the Twig/Thorn, I feel the Parker and Pearl seem more familiar like traditional razors. I love my Twig and Thorn razors, but they do seem different and not in a bad way. BTW, I used a split Personna Lab Blues blade that I've used over 10 times rotating it between all the previously mentioned razors before I used it in this Pearl SE. I'd rate this a 7.5 out of 10

Fair review 🤗 I liked the Leaf's fig purple colour, so nice, but I never considered SE razor as I disliked cartridge razors in past. I do think that loading could be more intuitive, as it actually locks surprisingly well, no blade chatter, but "helping finger" could ruin so much, it def. locks much better on its own. I kinda ride the top cap, seems much efficient, riding bottom part makes handle too close to my skin making it less comfortable to hold. I don't know... if it's below 20$ and one likes that cushioned feel of cartridge razor I'd say it's more than a fine razor. Thanks for sharing your experience it's certainly most valuable 👍

Definitely it needs design improvement to hold the blades while locking the blades. The knurling must be horizontal also it must be included at bottom for tightening the blades. The failed to complete with parker and leaf twig or Thor.

Well, I would agree with maybe stronger magnets. Still, once tightened the blade is locked (for me) in ideal way. Some razors with bullet pins have same wiggling so I don't take that as big issue. For knurling... depends, in terms of weight balance I find it just at right spot, but I guess it was more for visual design. Who knows, maybe there'll be an upgrade of this razor 🤔

Curious to know how it shaves compared to the Twig. You are right about the look and feel to the disposable Gillette Blue. Its great for a quick shave because I am so familiar with the disposables. BTW, its weird that I get more shaves out of SE razors in total.

Wow, really? For me it seems as a blade-eater. But, it comes to the same range 4+ total shaves. Guess the Twig/Thorn are similar, what surprised me was how well the blade is clamped. Henson-like 🤗 But in all honesty I'm all new with SE razors so def. some later recap will be better judgment. On first run - such result, really nice Indian razor

Nice Shave. What is the advantage of a SE-Razor?

I don't know, tbh 😁 No, really, I could see it as a travel razor as it is more compact for storing. Does require 2x rinsing, half-blades are bit husstle, but for people who like "BIC"s i.e. this could be cheaper, more quality option. I guess. Feel is as with disposable razors (head footprint) but DE blade does cut much better. This one has pretty nice blade hold and cutting angle so I'm really ok with results, although feel of SE razor is bit different

Maybe it’s just the handling and feel that makes the difference.

@@RafaelHupfeld Could be, still the results are top-notch, despite anything, one of those "weird but I like it" razors ☺️

Yesterday I received a pearl-sleek razor and now i used it. It is the most hopeless and worst razor in the entire pearl family to say to you. The blade was not cut one day grouth beard also. The alignment is also not good. My huge amount was wasted to invest to purchase this worst razor.

Used Silvermax or your own blade? Feel sorry for this, I guess you can ask for another one, I mean - it worked for me, shaves great so I can't argue.
