the hampster story endears one to Zizek by showing that he allows his personal life to inform his ability to see truth

He quotes D.T. Suzuki about the "dancing sword" etc. Brian Victoria is the author of 'Zen at War', the other text he mentions.

HI all! Could you please give me a source of Slavoj's statement about Heydrich? Slavoj starting to speak about it at 06:17. He says that Heydrich played with his SS friends Beethoven Strings quarteto. Is this true? Please give me a source of this statement. Thank you.

5:21 In spite of my own political disagreements with Zizek, his comments on Buddhism and especially D. T. Suzuki's practice of Buddhism in pre-1945 Japan are key reasons why Atheists CAN NOT and MUST NOT leave it alone. Buddhist Enlightenment can only work when you absolve responsibility from the individual, or when you make yourself a passive observer rather than an active participant. It's why places such as Current-day Thailand and Feudal (Pre-Tokugawa) Japan have been plagued with wars(in Japan's case) and political authoritarianism (in Thailand's case) for several years, how can one be responsible for their actions when they can spiritually separate themselves from their bodies? Buddhism is one of those deceptive religions in that they appear harmless yet has the potential to cause the most harm to people in less time than Islam. Thailand for example is linked politically with Buddhism and the King is linked with both the Ruling Military Junta and the faith of Buddhism.

@Postpolarium Zizek would say the opposite: We trust in God, but we don't believe in him.

my god, you can be a complete racist misogynist and be "enlightened" in that case. youd be "hey look at me, 10'000 black women confirm my racist, patriarchal prejudices". I'm sorry, I know you're not supposed to answer to year old comments, but seriously, your reading of Zen seems even worse to me.
