    I freaking love Cornel West's beard-in-hand posture.

    I love this man like a father! He’s so kind. ♥️✝️ (Edit) Zikek quotes psalm 22 at the end of this video! Wow!

    I wouldn't say they're uncomfortable at all. I think that, because he is confronting this subject academically, they are made *comfortable* in admitting the truth of what he is saying through laughter.

    in an ironic sense Z's use of the 'blah blah blah' is actually a very old form, often found in rabbinic judaism, where the speaker quotes only a small passage in the belief that everyone else in the room has already read and reviewed that which is being referenced. conscious on his part? doubtful, still humorous.

    The illusion which hides the truth may have a good example in Parmenides's Proem.

    What makes rhetoric 'empty'? Is it Zizek's beard - his jokes - his style?

    But Zizek explained how the movie utterly fails at exactly what it aims to do.

    I think Zizek would agree that he himself is the biggest joke. The style - the way you say something - says volumes about what is said. Zizek has attempted to show this. The way we present ourselves hide an ideology, and everything can be properly ideological as ideology mediates our relation to the world.

    Don't write the story of your life, just explain one point Zizek is saying. If you can't, then it means you don't know what he's saying either (which is not a criticism of you, because Zizek isn't saying anything). My suspicion is that his lecture made FEEL something, not UNDERSTAND something ... since you're invoking subjectively, which pertains to feelings and not understanding. If you DID gain some understanding, you would be able to explain it. So can you explain yourself or not?

  • @Krshwunk
    @Krshwunk12 жыл бұрын

    Never said understanding was opposite of subjectivity ... I just said they're different. Also, what do you mean by "absolute truths?" Also, I AM laughing at Zizek's jokes. But I'm also laughing at Zizek, who is the biggest joke. You don't seem to get that. You're stalling, constantly changing the subject ... I grow more convinced that you don't know what you're talking about. Again, I ask: explain one point that Zizek is making. If no one can, why should I believe Zizek is saying anything?

  • @Krshwunk
    @Krshwunk12 жыл бұрын

    So, you agree Zizek is saying nothing. You are just entranced by his "eloquence." Gone are the days that logic was respected. Now people just faun over empty rhetoric. Yep, this was my preconceived idea about why people like Zizek. I was really hoping you would assuage my suspicion. But you haven't. You've really bummed me out.
