It's really difficult to see how she qualified as she was a working model but had no where near the acclaim to qualify based on her modeling. He stops just short of the ACTUAL legal limit, but miles over what people THINK the legal limit is, and so he has an air of comedic risk that's hard to rival without actually full-on fucking the company over. They know they can back LWT because LWT knows exactly what they're saying. It's brilliant, and he walks that razor's edge like it's nothing. No wonder they want to keep him.

There's something about the song at the end that makes me tear up when the fireworks start going off. I think it's because it's so rare to see people like Bob actually getting a fragment of justice delivered to them, or maybe it's the fact that Murray died shortly after this came out; I'm not entirely sure why, but something about this just resonates deeply with me.

They have more freedom because they are a subscription channel but WarnerMedia does pose limits on what they can do. That is why they have been little vocal on for example DAPL and on how the corruption from the Clinton network (Clinton herself, Podesta, CNN/MSNBC/WP/NYT/ who pimped Trump to start infightin in the Republican party because they knew how weak Clinton was as a candidate...) got us president Trump. The comic Jimmy Dore did a segment on this on his Jimmy Dore Show, you can easily find it on KZread. This theatrical performance was great work though. :)

I've seen this guy offend his AT&T overlords but he never takes it too far cause he knows he'd be shut down in the middle of the show if he went off the rails but frankly compared to other shows he has a lot of leeway in what he chooses to talk about. I agree, anytime he does the performances they are hilarious and great.

This team knows how to spend money. They spend a lot, and they make every penny worth it.

So HBO legal team's strategy in court was essentially choking the judge with laughter

in honor of the third anniversary of bob's passing yesterday, let me drop you some truth for all those who think Bob let his beef go: No he didn't, he got killed off by karma before he could! this was posted 11 nov 2019, bob died exactly 3 year and 1 day today, oct 25 2023. He had an almost a whole year to see it. I am sure he did see it, but people say he didn't because he responded to any bad media about him in days of it coming out. But this time he did not, and it was not because he let it go...it's because he got LUNG SICKNESS COMPLICATIONS! HE DIED OF IDIOPATHIC PULMONARY FIBROSIS AND EVEN APPLIED FOR BLACK LUNG BENEFITS A MONTH BEFORE HE DIED, THE SAME BENEFIT HE HELPED DESTROY FOR YEARS. If you ask me, that last bit was probably the last straw for God, if you are a dying millionaire with wealth on the back of miners you fucked over for years and your first response to getting lung sickness was "let me get one last lick!", that would be how i would take you out. That or a cave in.

As someone who lived next door to a miner who died of "the dust" as we call it over here in the UK, when his youngest child and I were 6 years old (a long time ago), I cannot help but think that karma is not so much a bitch, but the perfect way to balance the scales of justice. because at least 1M view on youtube, it's maybe their best program on the internet. Also John Oliver is deeply subversive, I bet they get funds here or there :). Some episodes are deeply informative and some others are here to fun and they really are, in the other hand some are pretty akward to me. For the Dalaï Lama episode for example, things are not as simple as that, but it induced the audience into a false sense of certainties while the reality is way more nuanced than that.

It probably helps that they've won Outstanding Variety Talk Series (among others) for four consecutive years at the Emmys. When you're consistently bringing that level of prestige a network, they're going to help you do what you want.

Almost 4 years later and this is still one of my favorite things John ever did.

I've had many discussions with friends about the best thing we've ever seen in TV or movies, and I come back to this episode of LWT every single time without hesitation. It's absolute perfection - daring, informative, hilarious, and endlessly entertaining. The fact that Bob Murray died of black lung due to his own shitty workplace safety conditions before he had a chance to sue HBO & AT&T again is just icing on the cake.

In his entire comedic career, this has to stand as John Oliver’s magnum opus.

This has to be the most elaborate insult in the history of mankind.

Today is possibly my fiftieth time watching the last six minutes of this episode, and I still derive much joy in watching it as much as the day it first appeared over two years ago. Since then, John won a another Grammy for this episode and Bob is long gone an buried.

Seattle had a very effective way of toning down frivolous suits. When the city got sued for obviously frivolous charges, they counter sued the plaintiff for the per hour cost of the city attorney having to deal with the case. Dude dropped his suit thinking the city would act in kind. It did not. And they didn’t have to deal with another frivolous suit for years. Hope HBOs lawyers see this 😉

I do sincerely hope Bob Murray got a chance to see this beautiful tribute to his work before he passed away.

This is probably the greatest episode of any television show I've ever watched. Never before have I seen an asshole get so incredibly destroyed in the form of a Broadway musical. This is also a prime example as to why this is my favorite show. I absolutely love that HBO lets them spend incredible amounts of money on whatever they want, it's why we get amazing moments like these.

You know what could be fun? Spamming SLAPP initiator with so many lawsuit-provoking events, so that simultaneous suing everyone will drain funds for lawyers faster than they can be replenished, especially if some crisis is afoot. A thousand paper cuts, so to speak=)
