It's unreal how hard this demo smokes what xotic put out for their own pedal. Thank you.
There are a tremendous amount of videos for the SL Drive out there and some very good ones, but to my ears this is by far the best. I ordered one the day after watching this and can't wait until it arrives!

+mastertheguitar my Limited Edition Chrome SL Drive with the 18 volt adapter finally arrived! I have to say that of all my pedals, this is the best pedal I've ever played with humbuckers. Every classic rock Marshall tone is available in spades and I'm using a $320 Vintage V100 LP! Also sounds excellent with a strat and single coils. I run it with the 18 volt adapter at all times. Thanks again for an authentic tonal review, I was not disappointed!

Have that pedal in a pair with my bb comp. Your review helped me to made a right choice! Well done! Thank you!
Always great in-depth reviews about the things that matter to players Mark. Great job and thanks for putting it through its paces with Single Coils and Humbuckers for comparison.

A fantastic demo of this pedal. I realise I'm kind of late to this party, but thanks for helping me to decide. It's really nice to see a demo where I'm just hearing the sound of the pedal without a tonne of delay on top. Great playing too. Thank you.
Cheers mate. That's one of the best reviews I've seen. I've got an sp compressor and the sl drive was on the list of possible drive pedals to go with my tumnus. You've made up my mind, i'm having one! Ta.
Great demo. I am getting one of these and the EP boost pedal. The sound is so genuine and crisp.
Awesome demo !!! Definetly convinced about this pedal !! Just ordered one 😊
Great review of a great pedal! Thank you! I just bought it!
Excellent presentation of that SL Drive pedal!
Great demo! You Rock!

its crazy how good these pedals are my shred buddy has the limited edition they can pump some decent shredding gain too. its classed as an amp in a box pedal so you can use it on any amp you can imagine and itll always sound this good XD what an age we live in
The best review of this pedal 👍

I have had a lot of distortion pedals in my 30 years of guitar playing and I've tried boutique and factory made distortions etc...Obviously I haven't had them all but the Xotic SL Drive is the only one that I can say that I've nailed my hard drive sound with and I see so many SL's on sale second hand on so many sites I don't know why anybody wouldn't want to have this pedal but personal taste is personal taste.

I agree with you. I use mine with high/mid cut. I believe people only tried it on bedroom level. This pedal loves volume.
Great video! I'm gonna get one ordered
I have one of those and love it,, I leave it on the "super bass" internal switch setting when playing my Fender American Strat through my Fender Deville. It's a really nice sound! And both the guitar and pedal are made in my home state of California too, the amp just a couple hours away South of the border lol.
Love this pedal, i have one coz of this video hehehe! I'll subscribe to you right now. Thanks for the video!
The Xotic effect are all very solid great sounding pedals. I currently use the BB pre amp the EP Booster and SP Compressor as my travel rig.

@@grahamkelly8299 my go to pedal - still. Superbass mode and I added Xotics 18v voltage doubler. I changed up my amp - now I run a Gibson SG using a 1993 Fender Blues Deville 212. This is the best setup I’ve ever had. The SL drive gives me that EL34 tube tone and still have those Fender 6L6GC mids and highs. Sweeter than Yoo-hoo 😗

great playing and thanks for a great review! I'm Sold
This is a great pedal. My only complaint would be with the internal dip switches. I really wish they were on the front of the pedal someplace instead of inside which would make adjusting so much easier especially during a live setting where you might need a different tone for a different guitar. Maybe they'll make a v2 of this pedal and do that.
great video

I love this pedal, it really does sound like a Marshall, my only complaint is it sounding thin at stage volume, but I just punch it in the balls with a fulldrive when it needs to CRANK. Would definitely recommend
❤👍🏽

I have the Boss Boost/feedback pedal, plus a slew of other effects. Would this work near the end of the effects chain, after everything but the reverb? Or is it highly dependent on interaction with the pickups, which would put it first in the chain?

Kinda late but I just ordered one and do I need the voltage doubler or I can just plug it into my 18v input on my psu?

+Ma Ja Thanks! I captured the guitar sounds by mic'ing up the cab with a Shure SM58 into a MOTU Ultralite MK3.
Does this pedal work well over an already broken up/crunchy channel as an extra gain/mid bite boost? (Almost how you would use a TS) Or does it work "best" on a completely clean channel? Thanks! Awesome reviews by the way!
@svenzia
Жыл бұрын
I guess you know the answer by now, bur for anybody else: yes, yes it does. I use it into a already brroken up amp - not much gain but still gain, and it sounds glorius. I aslo use it as in this demo ofc. GREAT pedal.
The SL isn't bad, esp if you're tight on board space but pedals like the Pal800 and Dirty Lil Secret are just more convincing and have that extra Marshall mojo. I say, if your gonna do it, do it right
Are these pedals all analog? How do they make em so small?!! Its amazing
Add the Boss feedbacker booster pedal with the Exotic SL drive pedal and you'll get absolute "Marshall Plexi Overdriven Valhalla"...Nothings better than lots of high boost gain with a touch of controlled feedback..
Forgive me, but what amp did you say you were using? Couldn't make it out. " I ask because I'm using this pedal with my strat through a fender twin, which even with the tone down can sound bitey
@mastertheguitar

I play a Victory V30, it's a reasonably dark amp so not overly harsh with the SL Drive though the pedal really has lots of bite. You could try different DIP switch settings see if that helps?

Really on the fence between this and the BB pre amp
@mastertheguitar

Personally I prefer and use the BB for the extra control in EQ and I tend to use the BB as a boost when using Single-coils rather than as an amp-in-a-box or exclusive drive pedal.

@@mastertheguitar Exactly - I have both, and run the preamp as an always on pedal on a clean channel with a little gain coming from the BB. The SL connects really well with the BB.

What are your thoughts on this vs the full tone OCD pedal?
@Gamma870
7 жыл бұрын
I own both, and they are in the same ballpark! The OCD sounds "fatter" and meatier in comparison, the SL drive a little bit "thinner" with a midrange hump that cuts trough any mix! Both are great pedals in my opinion! :)
@alexhooi7970

Gamma870 thanks for the reply, i got both xD and I use one of them as a boost depending on what the situation requires, i love the midrange hump of the sl drive, but i love the transparency of the ocd, so i got both
