Hi Everyone, Here is how you calibrate the Steadyview Receiver RSSI ·RSSI Calibration: Turn off VTX,then turn on the goggles, make sure the goggles have snow on screen . In system menu, select RSSI calbration, choose low, confirm, the goggles will beep twice. Then turn on VTX, make sure VTX and goggles are in same frequency, and make sure VTX is at 2m way from goggles, then select High in RSSI calibration, then confirm, goggles will beep four times.

Love the video, Ian, and I appreciate the content! I've had my set of 04X V2 over six months now and couldn't be happier. I actually learned a couple of things from this... I didn't know about the "drone finder" feature and I had completely overlooked the OSD timeout option in the menu so now I can finally hide the OSD!

I've had my 04x v2 for almost a year now and mine have been fantastic. So glad I picked them up. I did not expect to go HDZero - but they were fully ready for that and looks great! I avoided all the crazy HDMI board issues with HDO2s.

@@sakfpv8444 I still use my 04x v2 for both walksnail and HDzero. While they are no longer “the best for analog and HDzero” as I write this response in 2023, the experience is still very good. The walksnail latency is roughly 45ms on the 04x v2 and you can run 1080p @ 60 or 720 @ 60, same latency. Looks nice in the optics. I certainly do wish I had the HDzero goggles right now because those are the master of all at the moment but my 04x v2 will keep getting me through just fine.

I’ve had my 04X’s for about 10months and I consider them to be the best goggles I’ve used over the last ten years. I use them on analog, digital with the Amimon/Connex Prosight system, and with the use of an Amazon Firestick I watch streaming content. Many have complained about poor performance when used in Mix mode though I’ve not noticed these issues. My only complaint is screen burn. I’ve used them a lot using HDMI in 16:9 and there are distinct borders and artefacts from the OSD.

I just ordered a set of red O4X v2's based on yours and bardwells recommendation. I've been flying fatshart attitude v5's for 3 years, and was torn between the sky04x, and the hdzero goggles. I chose these because I fly 100% analog, but have the option to add hdzero or walksnail in the future if I want. And the were on sale for a bit cheaper than the hdzero. I'm so excited to actually have a high end goggle flying experience. I stopped flying last year mainly because I felt the goggles hold me back.

@@pennerboy Then main differences from the original steadyview are: a Oled screen for stand-alone use; a so called narrow band filter (not sure if the translation is right) that allows the module to be more resistant to interference, but with this feature it can't work properly with some low quality vtx which can't lock the frequency very precisely; last one is the multiple mix mode, which according to Skyzone have different frame mix algorithms to solve the camera compatibility issues.

It is possible to fit a TBS Fusion module in the bay (I have), but it requires both enlarging the module bay (I used Dremmel) and grinding off corners and edges on the module boards - which needs to done gently, so yo do not damage it. A Fusion module will provide a better IQ and range than the dual Skyzone module. I have Rapid-fire on my other set of O4X and I still prefer the TBS - both colours and resistance to rolling screens

the most important point for are the last 2 words of the title, the key message I heard 'for now' my eyes caught them and I thought this is what most 2022 products so far got too: wait, cause there might be coming something better soon So 2022 might become a lost year again considering that supply chains tend to cause delays and suddenly the new products will not arrive in summer or late summer, but autumn or maybe chrismas sales time. Considering the new digital FPV uprise with the new or old kids like avata and so on it feels like a race of all those fighting for the silver medal cause dji was years ahead. You were asking if such a fatshark system might be dji clone or made, I give you another hint far away from pcb analysis: if it is dji made then 1 week after launch we will see them able to ship masses. If not then it is not a dji product cause all others in this business usually tend to struggle if they have to scale and ramp up production due to demand, high demand leaps. Order and get one - which was not always that case when I remember the dawn of hte Spark in 2016 with its release and crazy growing delivery times from first order with a delivery in 2 weeks (was OK) to third order 1 day later with a 10 weeks delivery time anouncement which even went higher in the following weeks. We had ordered 3 sparks from dji within the first weeks and finally got 2 and send the last one back cause at that point we have had experienced too many flaws the usual reviews like casey neistat from new york launch did not touch or cover. DJI learned a lot from that and reduced delivery time after launch by magnitudes, while the other could not keep up. Lost year means to me: I wait and do not spend money for anything fpv related paying the high prices of 2022 cause in the future the prices will decrease when corona is gone in china cause that is the bottleneck. Chinese dream the american dream and will try to produce and sell as much as they can - to become the next rich and this will end in the usual price battle sooner or later. Just a matter of time. And in the west we struggle from high gas prices but that will also adjust over time cause the russian overproduction will find a way into the world market sooner or later which will lower the demand of other states and that reduces the price pressure. Right now russian crude oil production is in a deadly zone but the cheaper the price the more people and states are willing to take the risks and in 2023 or 2024 we will see those price battles between brands like jumper and frsky continue where they stopped in 2020. Growth is their holy grail and if they all wanna survive then price and cost reduction or higher efficiency is king. Just a matter of time.

Are these 'best' due to bang for buck buying today, or are you saying someone should get these over the defacto standard FS HDO2? I ask because I flew the original FS HDO and bought the Sykzone O3x and found them to have a lot of strong points over the HDO, mainly Brightness and richness of color. Really, the main issue I had with the O3x and why I eventually ended up on HDO2... #1 no 16:9, and the larger issue was that they were VERY fussy about getting your eyes lined up to the goggles. I almost had them slightly higher than they would naturally rest on my face to see better. The internal RX also just didn't compare to Rapidfire / Fusion etc. It seems Skyzone fixed most of my gripes with this new model.

Whilst your review is not bad in covering potential functionality, you seems to have just been "lucky" in receiving a good pair of these goggles. I say lucky with quotation marks because I'm sure they know who's buying. I have had 3 of these and I have retured every single one of them because of the following issues: 1. The image quality was absolute garbage on both the first and the second goggles. There was some image artifacting going on, whereby whenever you had a white (light) next to a black (dark) pixel, there was an echo of these white pixels to the right of the object. The replacement that I received was a white goggle. However, these was another issue with these where at any brightness level the image would start to flicker. I guess there was something wrong with the DC-DC converter, but epilepsy inducing flickering goggles for just under £500.... no, thank you! The thrid pair was a little better, bu there was a combination of the image artifacting and the flickering (less pronounced but still visible) and so I returned them, too. By the way, this was visible on the DVR recodings as well, have a look at my channel, I just uploaded a video on that. 2. The manufacturing quality was unacceptable for such a pricetag and here is why: I had three colors and all three of them had easily noticable flaws. Whilst the grey ones were the best from all, they had a strange thing were the powder coating on the faceplate and on the plastic where the faceplate attaches is not done properly and feels like sandpaper. The color is just not sprayed evenly and it is not even adhered properly. Becuase they have not boxed up the second faceplate separately, it leaves scratches (probably due to movement during shipping) right next to the glass lenses. The white ones were the worst of them all. These goggles are most likely sprayed top-down and again you not only have that sandpaper-like surface on the inside, but you also have small black dust flakes embedded within the white paint as well. You can see and feel these easily. The black ones were a bit better, but again these just had a combination of the issues mentioned above. 3. Customer care does not exist in China!!! I wrote an email to Skyzone after receiving my first pair regarding the image artifacting. It has now been about 4 months and I have not received a reply. And, I'm not the only one that they have not replyed to as well. That flying buddy emailed them 6 times over the course of 5-6 months before getting a reply from someone, giving him instructions on how to disassemble the goggles himsleft to try and fix the issue he had. Whilst cost effective and enregy saving in terms of back and forth transport, this this is certianly not how you deal with RMA requests.... Pathetic company ethics.... After all of this nonsense with Skyzone, I bought the OrqaFPV ONE.Pilot and they are amazing. They work flawlessly, the image quality is actually "second to none" and whilst the barreling you menitoned is somewhat true in very bright background sircumstances, it is not nearly as annoying as the Skyzone's image problems, the flickering and the poor manufacturing quality overall. Summa summarum: A sample size of 1 doesn't really capture all the wrong things with these goggles and I am 100% sure that you have at least one of the issues mentioned above, so please keep that in mind when posting a video review. It's not fair to the people who want to spend about £500 on goggles but have no experience with apaling Chinese manufacturing and quality assurance (which is probably non-existent). PS: I have purchased every Skyzone goggle since they came out with their first goggles in 2013/14 and all, literality all, of them had issues and techincal problems. PPS: Are you sure you bought these yourself? This review seems too good to be true based on my experience? Again, going back to my previous comment about a month ago, I don't think you are honest about your reviews because you didn't even pick up one bad thing about these goggles and I am 100000000% sure that you have scratches from the other faceplate right next to the lenses and you didn't mention that at all. You probaby have samo image issues and you didn't say a thing. You didn't even show it for that matter.

OK first of all let’s be crystal clear. 100% I paid full price of these goggles from Bangood with zero input from anyone, Support or knowledge from Skyzone at all. It is an entirely independent review as was my Orqa FPV Pilot review. I have also canvassed MAY forums, discord groups and Facebook groups and overall issues with the O4X have been low as had Orqa. Yes there are solid reports of issues with the Steadyview but overall goggle reports are good with many people having zero issues, many of the Steadyview issues seen are solved with firmware but again that’s separate in many ways from the goggle. As for keeping in mind these things you mentioned, well I can only go by my experience and if there is not mass reports issues then it’s also not fair to mentioned them in a review. As for the scratches. It’s nothing I have particularly noticed but possibly I will need to check mine closer. The paint on mone set is ok, not amazing and not terrible. It’s not though anything Ifelt eas poor. Plastics good and no issues I feel distract from the use of the product. The Orqas do feel a little more solid but again the Skyzone met my personal expectations. An FPV goggle is a tool, It’s going to get marks here and there in normal use. While yet these are premium that’s for me in the IQ and features as much the fit and finish. Is it possible your expectations are a little higher than everyone mosts with regards to the fit and finish ? As for IQ mine as very good. No ghosting or image issues at all. Yes the Skyzones show the interlacing jitter behaviour as I discussed but so does the Orqas and I proved in another video on my channel and that’s driven by the 60fps refresh rate on 30fps video and is again on the Orqa too ans it’s not specific to manufacture. You state you have had many issues and that’s very possible but that’s not to say everyone’s experience is the same and again that’s not my experience. I’m sorry my review does not fit in with your personal experience or expectation however it’s my opinion and review none the less. There are many things that can be said are wrong with the Orqas as well if you want to get very picky, both goggles could have better fitment of the module cover tbh but that’s very minimal. The Orqa buttons are to flat, poor placement ect these are things that directly affect the user experience. There has been nothing on the Skyzone that has done that for me. You clearly have no been around my channel long as if you had you would have known I have zero issues ripping any manufacture apart for piss poor products or bad consumer behaviour however I can only do that if I feel it is the case. As for Skyzone support well I have heard both sides of things. Good and bad but again nothing that makes me massively concerned based on my and others experience. There are good and bad things I have seen and heard about Orqa as well. While their support is good some of their posting and comments leave a lot to be desired. So again this is all things that could be said about both sides. I’m sorry but the 04X for me and many others has been a great product. Even Bruce at RCModel Reviews speaks very highly of them. I’m sorry you have had issues but again I will be clear with you any accusation of false narrative or basis is bullshit and I can only give you my opinion based on my own experience. I’m glad you have found a good goggle for your self in the Orqa. No product is perfect and at the end of the day a review is an opinion. No one is strictly fact or the be all or end all. Before making any purchase people should always canvas multiple ones as they should with any product. Thanks. Mad.

@@MadRC You are correct about this video being your opinion. I just thought that it is a little awkward that you didn't point out some of the very very common issues. After returning my goggles, I did have a look online on all the various forums and discord servers, but the thing is that it was videos, like the one from RC Model Reviews, that made me buy the Skyzone's in the first place, only to be dissapinted three time in a row after that. Having siad that, I only know of one person who had 0 issues with the goggles and he purchased his over 2.5 years go now. And this is my key point. Whilest they are a "tool", as you said, i.e. the primary tool for FPV Pilots, they just lack "consistency" of manufacturing and they certainly lack proper Quality Assurance. For £500, I would expect a 150g piece of plastic to be the best made and checked piece of plastic I have ever bought. What Skyzone allow to be boxed up and leave their factory is just ridicuous. Simply the fact that you are playing Russian Rulette when buing these is good enough for me to say: "I'm spending my money elswhere". Now, because I mentioned ORQA, here is my experience with them: 1. Outstanding Quality: Everhting fits together very nicely and the IRC Rapidfire receiver fits perfectly. Keep in mind, you do need to remove that little black hard foam pad next to the OLED screen so that the hatch can close perfectly. 2. The image quality is the best I have ever seen on any goggle. I can't complain at all (and that's not something I can easily sayt, as you can tell by now :D) 3. I did contact ORQA about the RTMP streaming functionality not working when using the CONNECT module. I wanted to tream on youtube and it simply didn't work. Their response was that they will release a software and firmware update at some point, addressing all user feedback so far. Let's see... At leaset they replyed in in less than 12hrs.... Again, for me, image quality is number one priority. Buttons here or there, it's muscle memory in the end. I agree that the buttons could have been placed better for more intuitve use from the perspective of a new user, but apart from that, I have nothing to comment. By the way, the DVR recordings are amazing, compared to anything else you can find from other DVR's.... When you have a chance, please show the IQ problems, they do show on DVR recordings as well, so it should be easy to show in a short follow-up video. Thanks, 123AMG

I must admit I too am of the same opinion regarding Skyzones. Customer service is dreadful Quality is indeed inconsistent Yes its a damned good goggle but getting one that truly reflects its price is a gamble.
