Dude, those main character lines are so apathetic. He's expressing the same level of shock for his daughter being held at gunpoint, as he would spilling coffee grinds on the kitchen floor. Either they didn't hire a director to give them feedback, or the director really checked out on this one.

I've got a feeling that there's a plot twist in the end wherein the monsters in the game are real people and the protagonist is hallucinating and murdering people.

Picking locks is actually really easy splat, scarily easy in my opinion. If you have the tools (no, you cant use a shiv made from scissors) it's terrifying to do it and take mere seconds to open a lock with a tiny bit of practice

@@gregoryjames7696 Settle down, smalls. The authors of one study (Reidy, Berke, and Gentile) of 600 American males called it "masculine discrepancy stress" (well, being short is more a factor, like lacking muscles, or being feminine in general), and if you search for that term on Google you will find other studies by them. Among the obvious traits, like aggression (verbal or physical), support for war and willingness to buy a big truck was another way for short men to reinforce their own masculinity in the face of their emasculating lack of height. One of the first things anyone who studies psychology learns is that quite a few stereotypes are true, among them is that short men are more aggro dudes, and the questions that remain unanswered are typically the "why" and the "how". Regardless of whether you want to acknowledge it or not, height is a very serious factor for self-image, if only because of the physical constraints it imposes. People who are short are generally more paranoid (in the sense that they're acutely aware of potential threats in their environment, because they are small and easily suplexed, not that they're cowering in fear from air looms) and less confident. To compensate for this they tend to be more aggressive. It's also possible, since people shorter than 1 standard deviation below average height (so, I don't mean short like 5' 6", more like 5' 4" or 5' 0", for Americans) are less intelligent than people within a standard deviation of a population average height, that very short men could be more prone to violence because they can't think of better solutions to their problems than to beat someone up. But that would be reflected with a violent criminal record of felony batteries or a history of physical domestic abuse or something. But that's a population group average, so it only applies in aggregate. Of course there are the occasional short males who are perfectly ordinary in intelligence and capable of solving issues calmly and rationally, but they are on the upper end of the bell curve, so to speak. Incidentally, 5' 6"-5' 9" covers about the average height of an Apache pilot though and those dudes are full of toxic masculinity.

Sometimes it's a good thing to not be a fighter. In fact, if there's a gun-wielding maniac around, it's better to just call the police. Hunting him down on your own, with your own gun is usually a terrible idea and will either get you or other innocent people killed. Only under very specific circumstances does it make sense for you to intervene (you HAPPEN to be on the scene when the shooting starts but the police isn't, you HAPPEN to have a gun, you HAPPEN to be clearly able to identify the shooter and you HAPPEN to have a clear shot without risking anybody else) - and most people can't make that judgement, because shootings tend to be very chaotic and regular people aren't trained for that.

I'll probably wait until a few weeks post-release and see if they've done much bug fixing. Still throwing it on the wishlist though. We'll see.

This title looks rough. The villain is a one dimensional cliche. The main characters voice acting is as wooden as plywood, and the dialog is painful. The controls look like a real problem, and the view is so far back it makes it hard to tell what's going on. The cut scenes look like placeholders, and so do the item icons, and menus. On the plus side, there is some good art when it is light enough to see, and the music is decent.
