Having watched quite a number of Splattercat videos: He is skilled, but juggling commentary and gameplay means he always, without fail, misses one core mechanic of the game. In this one, it's the fact there are two dimensions to the laser targetting. The left dimensional plane and the right one.

Well. Try playing while talking all the time and finding fun things to say, all the while knowing you'll have to upload the video to be seen by an audience. You'll see your skill and concentration drop dramatically.

@@isitanos all he does is talk tho, he doesnt play shit, he misses everything does the most horrible stuff and makes most horrible decisions every time, he's basically playing at 10% efficiency at best, so i dont see any skill in that, i could probably do better and i'm shit at multitasking. also if u wanna be good at both nothing stops u from playing recording and then talking over it. also i watch a lot of people who do both and do both really well, REALLY well.

@@Kyndral22 dont know, i havent been watching him that long, maybe a year or a bit more, and he's always been very bad at games, i mean many if not most youtubers are bad at games so i'm used to it, i watch videos to see a little bit of gameplay and mostly just for youtuber's personality.

Finally! A game that captures that scene from Return of the Jedi where the Ewoks somehow beat the shit out of the Empire...

Damn I finally figured out why you miss shots sometimes. The gun switches from front row to back row. Green is back and blue is front. Just like how you can't step on natives on different rows.

Really good for what it is. The communications - text and voice - add a lot to it. I think it comes down how much new stuff they can keep introducing throughout the game, since the basic "walk from left to right" format of the battles hasn't changed yet. So far it's been enough to keep things interesting.

You don't have 'a laser'. You have two lasers that alternate. Blue fires at front line, green at the backline. Just like the legs.

Imagine being an interplanetary military force that lost to arrows and spears yet still try to recruit people.

Don't forget the troops have to pay for their own weapons and ammo! With that you can see why they are losing to arrows and spears.

Hi Splat. Blue means front line, green means back line. Like with the legs, you can't damage enemies on the other line. If you pay attention there is a cannon on each side of the walker. Anyway long time watching your vids enjoying that we have the same taste in games haha. Keep it up!

As for the color of your laser targeting, it appears that the enemies proceed in two lanes. The color of your laser determines which lane you are going to fire at.

For those wondering, game description in Steam claims that you can fight for various factions. Fight for humanity vs the Ewok-Avi's, fight for the Ewok-avi's, fight against traitors, etc. This is essentially a boiled down Avatar/Return of the Jedi.

I didn't see this game until just now (Because I wasn't subscribed to or had ever heard of SplatterCat) but I'm loving it. It just needs a Navi mod so I can finally stomp those those annoying tree-hugging furries.

So the unholy spawn of Na'vi and Ewoks? Disgusting. Brother, get the Flamer, the HEAVY Flamer.

You know what can go really fast across open, level, obstruction-free ground so you don't get mobbed by natives on foot? Wheels.

Literally one minute after the guy explained to him why the mech is not able to move he asked why he can't move....never change splat Also not even trying to shake of the bombs was kinda stunning me :P

2:17 By the way, massive piece of advice: Pay close attention to the colors of the lasers you see when firing your mini guns. In the game there are two lanes that enemies can be on: the right lane and the left lane. You have two of those mini guns and they can only fire at certain lanes and they are represented by the colors of the lasers you see. The green laser aim only at the right lane and the blue laser only aims at the left lane. Every time you fire the mini guns, they switch between each other. I’m sorry this sounds confusing, but I have never been good at explaining. Edit: Okay my bad, I got the green and blue lasers mixed up.

@SplatterCatGaming I figured it out! About your turret shots not hitting. The GREEN is for the left side of the vehicle and the BLUE is for the right. GREEN LASER will hit enemies in the mid to higher sections of the road while BLUE LASER will hit enemies in the mid to lower sections of the road. (Note: I mean higher and lower as in elevation! Not in distance from the natives to the walker. Its all about elevation!)

The movie Avatar showed us that people with bows and arrows will always beat machinery. And don't we want the natives to win?! This is why this won't be a huge seller! :)

Love the vids, helpful tips if you keep playing. Every shot switches lanes the colors represent which lane, you need to shake to slide the bomb of before it explodes (:

This is less Imperium of Man and more Empire v Ewoks! Even down to the gliders.

Splattercat the guns are duel mounted wich means the field has two rows blue for row 1 and green for row 2,that's why your shots look like their missing,explosives obviously hit both rows

I'm pretty sure that if you shot an arrow at an Abrams main battle tank, even from a modern compound bow, all it would do is scratch the paint. So the whole premise of this game is like the Ewoks on Endor.

I don't know if you figure this out later in the video but your laser fires in a 3D space so you need to use the targeting reticle. That's why your attacks sometimes seemed to go through the enemies. They were just missing.

In 1992 I had a game on my Amiga called Walker similar to this, it ran with the tag line: Fill 'em full of dread, then fill them full of lead. It was from the studio that would become Rockstar Games.

The laser alternates sides of the path every shot. Blue is the side thats closer to the screen, green is farther from the screen. Thats why you keep missing the guys, youre firing at guys on the blue side when the laser is aiming at the green side.

splattercat, you can shake of the bombs from the fliers. and your gun shoot every other shot in the lane of the second leg.

If your giant fricken armored mechs are being penetrated by primitive arrows and spears then you really need to take another look at the contracts for whoever is making this equipment.

Dude you can technically disable the Abrams tank with a well-placed spear. There is no perfect armor, and all vehicles have some weakness that can be exploited, and this is actually decently highlighted in this game. It's just the chances are really really low to be able to do this in its normal operating range, as it's immensely hard to approach Abrams in sufficient numbers in any open terrain. However, the rules significantly change in a jungle, when such a vehicle is surrounded by an enemy that's numerous and advantageous. The tactical side of this is extremely legit. You should pay attention to real asymmetric and guerrilla warfare examples from the history and there were many. For starters, go with the motti tactic for which a Molotov cocktail was originally improvised (named by Finns after a Russian diplomat), a tactical approach with devastating consequences that is actually taught in US military schools even today because it let a vastly outnumbered and outgunned force to actually win an extremely disadvantageous war. Examples like this one and the British war against the Zulu warriors, who employed godly tactical superiority against British riflemen, dismantling their defenses with pincer attacks and blitz movement, served as inspiration for motifs such as Battle of Endor in Star Wars.

The laser fires left and right alternating between the two distinguished by the blue and green change of colour. The natives are either in line with the left or right laser cannon so if they ain’t lined up the laser will miss. (Edit) Just realised a tonne of people have already explained this.

The reason it looks like your lasers are going through some of them is cause you have 2 lanes.. one for each of your legs. The lasers switch lanes. If an enemy is on lane 2 and your laser is blasting lane 1 it won't hit them.

PURGE THE EWOKS! Also, can't you just shake those bombs off like the climby guys? Air filter lvl420 in the end is just perfect :D

+SplatterCatGaming If you haven't figured it out yet, your lasers are split between left and right - and the enemy is split into two tracks, based on your legs. So the left gun can only hit enemies in front of your left leg, and so on.

The lasers seem to alternate between lanes of baddies, that's why you shot past some of them.

The laser has to be on the right row to hit the enemy. If the laser is green it will hit on the upper row. Blue is lower row. So you have to switch the lane by firing the shot either fast enough to hit the correct lane, or by aiming forward to hit something in the lane you're firing in so you don't waste the shot.

You'd think the y-axis would be vertical, but it looks like with three axis grid space, the z-axis would pertain to the vertical level, and the y-axis would pertain to the layering effect... while the x-axis is of course horizontal.... could be a good effect for some fighting types of games as well...

I feel if you can't armor your walker against arrows and the pilot has to manually move each leg you deserve to lose your invasion... xD

I think the laser is green when you hit people in the further back lane and blue when you aim at the lane closer to you.

Okay. So the blaster works perfectly fine. BUT it swaps what lane it is shooting in every shot. The blue laser means it is shooting in the near lane and the green laser means the far lane. If shit is on your head,shake like crazy. (Bombs included) And always take out stuff before it gets behind you. Otherwise they get free shots and more enemies will spawn if you progress forward.

Love the 40K reference.

I might be late to tell you this but your turret or your main weapon has to turrets, when your laser sight turn green the left cannon is ready to fire and if it turns blue then your right cannon is ready to fire. So the reason it doesn't hit the natives cause your using "the wrong side of the cannon" and I hope I get to see more of this cause it's interesting

SplatterCat there are 2 lanes, so green is for the top lane and blue is for the bottom lane. oh and i think you can shake the bombs off. there is a timer, witch means there has to be a counter. i don't own the game, i just observed, witch is easyer when you don't have to focus staying alive.

Replace 'savages' by "Ewoks". There, done. Someone saw Return of The Jedi, and a lightbulb switched on :)

What we got here is an example of a space governments incompetent R&D division. 5 years and none of the problems that caused the Walker's to be destroyed at the start of the game are fixed on splats walker

@SplatterCatGaming If you are a bit more observant when asking why you don't hit. You would see there are 2 cannons shooting lasers. One on the left and one on the right. When the right one fires you hit the right targets. When the left one fires you hit the left targets.

Your laser cannon is clearly alternating between left and right barrels. It doesn't appear that you can compensate for that so I assume you just have to fire until you're lined up properly with the target. As for the bombs on your head, I assume you're supposed to shake those off like the guys who jumped on you.

Don't know if it's mentioned in the vid, as did not watch it all: It's a total rip-off of an old Amiga game called, would you believe it, *"Walker".*

@@MrMaltavius It was left-mouse for guns, right mouse to "lock on". Simple and effective. The guns had an overheat mechanic to make you prioritize your targets and not just hose everything down endlessly.

Pretty sure I would have failed that first mission. I mean if you have a hard time learning the walk... but, like you said, it makes the upgrades oh so sweet worthwhile.

I wish you should have tried to shake the bombs that are dropped on the mech. I really do enjoy your perception on all the games played.

it will probably have a twist. haven't played it but it seems to be brutal yet relatable for a purpose.

i agree you dont input a system like this game has without the aiming and bullets being more forgiving on their hit boxes bullets just go through enemies and you have to walk manually so the hit boxes need to be waaaay more forgiving

When you have an itch of yelling out loud that the lasers alternate between each other each shot but then you see everyone’s already don’t it. Also you just need to shake off the bomb I bet
