Honestly, after everything is spawnproofed it might be better not to. I think given the choice between a ridiculous number of wither skulls, and a slightly less ridiculous number of skulls but also some blaze rods and gold, it may end up being worthwhile? Probably would still be better to just do a dedicated blaze spawner but if he doesn't want to do that this is workable. Once the ghasts cant spawn, and the only spawnable area is in that cube there should be a TON of mobs crammed in there

A Wither Skeleton Farm is definitely not a Project I would normally do... and this is EXACTLY why the Hermit Permits are so freaking awesome!! :D RD

Ren there was a very wholesome moment in Iskall’s video when he is doing his social experiment with slightly changing his skin and seeing if Hermits notice. Before you told him you noticed, he muted himself and said, “Your my best friend, please notice!” So just know that no matter what Iskall says or does, he has a soft spot in his heart for you.

I watched iskalls perspective first, had no idea what was wrong with the platypus, now it makes sense

Mad respect to Ren for committing to buttoning the nether, not fun and so many hidden crevices, but once you get it all the rates on the wither skellies are so worth it!

I tried to button my wither skeleton farm but there must be a ton of tunnels or somthing cause it does nothing so i set my simulation and render distance to 2 which encapsulates my whole farm and it just blasts out skeletons. Not the typical solution but it works lol.

@@DoughnutDragondownload minihud for the despawn sphere to know what areas need to be spawnproofed and tweakaroo for freecam so you can easily find those pesky little spots that are reducing your rates.

I did similar farm only I slabbed instead of buttoned - worked out cheaper in resources: 1 log = 4 planks = 4 buttons but 3 planks = 6 slabs, I also used cobble/stone slabs etc as I had a load of this from mining as well. Finding all the nooks etc was a pain though but using freecam helped

You can add wither roses on the spawnable spaces to ensure only Wither skelly spawn

Hoping and praying that Perry the Platypus just gets moved to random Hermit’s bases ever few weeks

I love these hermit permits!they encouarage such creativity and fun interactions between hermits

It is!! I brought one to the nether when building my ghast farm, and when I would be doing maintenance often theyd both spawn in the same spot (since everything else was spawnproofed). Ive hit 2 at once a few times.

Make sure all fires are put out also. They need between 0 and 7 light level. To get roses I have spawned a wither in a deepslate tunnel and spamed chicken eggs at it to chase me. It will kill the chickens and give roses.make sure the tunnel is super long.

Ive seen a method where you breed a bunch of chickens under the end portal, poison them to 1 hp, then summon the wither under the portal and the explosion gets you the roses

That has been the best way for me to get wither roses over on Bedrock, just a big ol' tunnel of chickens, dying for the cause.

I love how the permits have encouraged the hermits to come out of their comfortzones, tackling things that they have never tried before. Love this video, Ren! Slow spawn rates but hey, only goin up from here. We love to see it

In a soul sand valley you don't have to button every block you can just breed 30 striders and put them near your killing chamber, that will get rid of the ghasts. You will need to button blocks of the fortress, and other biomes in the 128 block sphere.. Also the blocks around the spawning plaform need to be nether bricks to enable fortress pack spawning, red sandstone won't do anything for your rates. I suggest watching gnembon videos about fortress farm and 'new' nether spawning mechanics.

I’m loving to see the hermits get out of their comfort zones this season and try new things!

If you put wither roses in all the spawning spaces, you’ll get exclusively wither skeletons because nothing else can spawn where there are wither roses. You make them by getting a wither to kill entities. There are many farms for that purpose but in a pinch, I personally just build a big helping of snow golems around where I spawn a wither and gather them while fighting it.

The first time you placed the trapdoors, they were facing the wrong way, leaving a safe place for things to walk over. That's why it didn't work straight away. Great work though, awesome to see you taking on big new stuff like this, love ta see it

so wither skeleton farms need a layer of wither roses to block the spawns of blazes and zombie piglin because their existence is what's tanking your rates. the blazes do not follow the farm's bait mechanism, and floating eggs do not cause the zombie piglin to try to step on them (they need to be able to think they can path find to the egg, which they can't if it's floating), so both only fall into the pit by chance.

Absolutely loved the perry the platypus bit! Keep up the good work ren!

Because of the way proximity spawning works in soul sand valleys, you don't need to button the terrain, just the fortress.

You need your roof to be higher for the turtle eggs to work. The pigmen will only pathfind to it if there are 2 air blocks above, so that they have room to jump on it

Just so you know, when using invisibility potions the only thing that affects detection rate is by wearing armour. You can hold things in your hands without increasing detection rates

Imagine building every conceivable nether farm into a fortress, custom or otherwise. Don't worry ren, this isn't a request. Seed luck is a ticklish subject per my ego.

There is fire in the farm due to blaze activity^^ You should delete the fire to lower the lightlevel

There’s nobody like ianxofour when it comes to creating farms which are easy to build and highly efficient. For everybody out there like Ren not feeling comfortable with redstone, I highly recommend checking him out. He has farms for literally everything

Portal farms don't work well in multiplayer.

Good call on removing the cyan blocks Ren. Do you need buttons on top of the farm roof, to stop mobs spawning up there? and maybe more buttons and stuff to stop spawns around the area outside the farm (a painful task). That will limit the spawns to just the farm area

Fun fact as well, fire protection reduces the amount of fire ticks you take. I always wear fire pants when I go to the nether because it makes blaze hits only do 1 tick of afterburn, and dipping a toe in nether lava is like 10 whole seconds of being on fire versus like 2 seconds with fire protection. Not to mention full netherite with fire prot4 pants subbed in + golden carrots lets you swim in lava as long as you want, so long as you have carrots and your armor doesn't break.

Where is Rens brain 100% of the time...in the gutter 😅

I think you're supposed to breed striders and pen them in the lava down there so it takes up the tiny soulsand valley mob mobcap, then ghasts don't spawn

I've made this farm before I found removing the middle wall at the hole under the slab will help and you need a slab on top of that back wall that sticks out on it's onw by the way, I also made mine multileveled, so I actually have three going in that cross zone and not just one it just means you have to swing a story a few more times, but I prefer the increase rates all you have to do is in the Fool area add two more farms under the one you have

You have the standard issue hanger and hut now you need a landing pad for when Rosie gets here :D. Maybe build a satellite dish that searches for her ping,

I like that you call it a redstone farm, when there's no redstone involved at all. Jokes aside, it's great to see you try out new things!

the thing with beacons is that they're not really something you have to buy multiple times, maybe to make sure you can make a profit you could make a deal with whoever has the iron permit and do a sort of "rent-a-beacon" or like a monthly subscription where they have to pay you to continue to use the beacons.

Easiest way to get a bunch of wither roses: Create a little pool (5x5 should be enough, with 1 water source in each corner and a hopper in the middle) and shoot a cupple of shulkers full of chicken eggs into it (dispenser+hopper+observer clock). Spawn the wither above the pool, the water will protect the hopper from the explosion, all the chickens will die and turn into a rose. It's like 10 minutes of work and can easily yield 300 roses. (one hopper can take in 320 items, every floating item might be destroyed by a wither blast).

Ren you should probably upgrade your Wither Skeleton farm to Ianxofour's design. Your current one provides 40 skulls/hr while Ian's provides 120 skulls/hr which is 3 times more. It is very easy to build too! Love your vids btw!

you may call the renstone not pretty but it is pretty impressive that you keep trying and learning and all around inspiring!

I'm really hoping to see some collaborative farm building between Hermits whose permitted items come from the same farms 🤓 for example, for your conduit permit you could work with whoever has the copper and trident permits to make a drowned farm and get all three together 😎 maybe not the best example since you'd only get the nautilus shells and still have to worry about the hearts of the sea, but I think you get the point anyway 🤷‍♂ maybe make a deal with the coal permit owner to make some extra diamonds from the coal you'll be getting from your wither skeleton farm 👌

Make sure to swap the buttons for wither roses to only spawn wither skeletons

Last thing is is that make the outer edge of the dirt or something you can plant with the roses on so that you want to get skeletons on the outer area, and the Blazers will spawn closer to the golem, causing them to fall down the whole and i put iron bars above the trap doors along the walls so that the Blazers can't shoot the golem. but you can probably get the same effect with trap doors they just needed to be a small gap for them to see so maybe even bottom slabs will work

Dear Ren (storytime): Skizz finished his stream and raided Jono who was apparently playing a fresh world in Minecraft. 1. It is sooooo obvious you two are brothers. lol 2. I imagined the two of you playing Minecraft together. Scene: Ren & Jono in theater kid mode through days and nights until they died and realized they hadn't even punched their first tree. 3. You could never do hard core together. 4. Jono was in theater kid mode as his first diamond despawned. lol 5. Jono announced to the world that the "hate to see it/love to see it" was stolen from the other brother. :) Love your face. :)
