It's jarring to know just how productive X is. He works out, plays plenty of instruments, makes incredible music, manages the technical aspects of a whole server and best of all, he provides high-quality videos on an almost daily basis. Keep up the good work dude.

The hardest part of maintaining a server is usally the first time you do anything or run into a problem, once you have experienced something enough it becomes 2nd nature I use to spend hours and hours on the server me and my friends use but as we go back to old games they are easy to set up but new games only depend on how settings and smaller changes are handled some are faster then others depending on how similar to previous games they are.

I have always secretly wished for this video! Thank you so much for sharing. Looking forward to the rest. Edit: Now that this series has concluded, I figured I'd come back here and ask if anyone has recommendations for more technical deep dives for the nerdier among us. For example, I would love an even deeper dive into the configs and stuff like the dockerfile, orchestration mechanism, distro choice, backups and so on for a server as seasoned as Hermitcraft.

This is a great idea for a video Xisuma. Its almost like we are on the same wavelength because I had wondered why no server admin had really taken the time to break down what running an SMP is like for KZread. Then again, you are a creator and many server admins who do this are as well, so that can consume so much time. Our server admin is pretty capable and we have already implemented all the features of Hermitcraft that we like, but there are others out there who may need additional assistance figuring this out. Good on you!
Thank you so much for all the info X! I know we all really like knowing what goes on behind the scenes :)

Making your version of minecraft available through curseforge is absolutely brilliant. it removes most errors people would get when trying to set it up by themselves, and lets you link to it whenever somebody asks about all the things you have installed. Really cool insights! I love these technical things and you and your team do an amazing job running the server, sometimes mistakes happen like we've seen but you always fix it quick, like when the nether became the end chunks because of some folder mixing, or when you deleted docm's underground cannon, so thank you and your team for bringing us the best viewer experience possible and to the hermit's bedt playing experience!
Very cool to see behind the curtains, thanks for keeping things running smoothly as it can all these years!
Thank you for putting this together! It’s so neat to see behind the scenes!
Thank you for this video X! I love seeing this technical side of how to maintain a server :D It gives me some more tools that I didn't know existed to keep my own worlds healthy and also extra options for making the vanilla aspects of the game more custom and refreshing without delving too much into mods w/ friends who are not mod-savvy. I'm excited for the rest of the videos keep it up!
Thank you so much for making these videos!! I've been wondering about a lot of things related to this lately! So I'm very grateful that you take the time to show us!
Thank you. This was very interesting and covered a lot of great stuff. I plan on re-watching it periodically since this solves some of the problems I'm seeing even in my single player world.
This was super fascinating!

thank you for doing this series! i have been making my own "hermitcraft" servers for a while and it is real nice to see all that goes on behind the curtain
Thank you for this video! I have long wanted this video to happen. Looking forward to the next part!

Well I think it would be really neat if you told us about more technical side of hosting a server. I think a youtube video (especially one made by someone as experienced as you) IS a great place to learn about setting up debian distributions with docker, pterodactyl control panel, setting up SSH/SFTP and subscribe. (Whatever that things are. I'm really curious about that last thing. What could it be?)
Ayo. As someone who's messed around with linux distros and docker...I am glad that you gus are doing it yourselves. Its nice when the guy sitting in the server room is also playing the game on the server.
just started a server, this is exactly what i've been looking for! thank you so much Xisuma!!!!
This was awesome Xisuma! From my perspective, this was a wonderful learning experience. Your explanations were thorough enough to either explain in detail the purpose in why a choice was made or you provided you helped point out a resource that could be used in research to customize/personalize a community's own server. Too often people when asked may spam a performance improvement mod list, or a server build with little explanation, & not realize that the person asking may be asking because they are in need of not just the tool, but the reasoning behind using the tool. You can't give a person a multimeter & expect that person to find where the short is in the house without explaining how to properly trace a signal.
Thank you for this video! I've been waiting to know how it's done for a long time.
Interesting video. Thanks for the quick list of the important mods. I generally run pure vanilla on my server, but getting some of those optimizing mods could likely really help things out. Coords finder and the silent mobs mods are also both technically non-vanilla things that I think all my players would be interested in as well since they don't really harm the vanilla experience other than not needing to mute mobs in certain areas.
Thank you for making this I needed this
Love seeing the backend to my favorite server! Thanks for all the details. :)
I really appreciate you putting this together. As someone inspired to run a small server because of hermitcraft, these tools are a big help.
Hah, that in video ad was seamless, X. I really enjoy seeing the backend of how Hermitcraft works.
Thanks you so much for this video! 😍 Running a server & being a huuuuge Hermitcraft fan (I watch Hermitcraft everyday, old and new!), I've dreamt about a video like this - and getting a whole series, that's just straight up amazing! 😍❤️
It's so cool how much work is put into the Hermitcraft server! Thank you X and helpers!
I like how you use Applied Energistics for visuals! Something that many players are familiar with and can easily visualize much better than complex real world maths and computer stuff!
this sounds like a very interesting series! excited for the next two
Very insightful, thanks for this series! I'm eager to see the rest :)
Thanks X! Looking forward to the next 2 parts. This is fascinating. Could you explain what happened with Doc’s chunks in the overworld and the nether? He obviously spent hours in both locations making his super powerful laser. How did that get lost?
Such a cool video and very explanatory for the questions I've had since season 4
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! ❤
really liked this video :] it's always so entertaining to get a little behind the scenes view on how your favorite server works!!

this is actually helpful. need to rewatch it cause most words just flew pass my head LMAO As an admin of a private server for my friends, this is legit helpful. I looked forward to the next parts! :D
I'm actually a huge IT nerd and I'm studying for sysadmin. I would actually love to hear about all the debian stuff!
This is really good stuff! I've been thinking of restarting a server for my friends, and I will definitely use some of these features/techniques. Thanks!
I've been excited to see this video, after hearing you talking about it! Lots of work, dude!
this is both well-made and useful! thank you X
This was very helpful! Thank you!
Literally have been researching this for a while and just decided today to look at it again as I had someone interested in doing the server. Quite a coincidental upload. Much appreciated
Thanks for taking the time to put this series together, I run a server for some friends and hadn't even considered world pruning! Huge help on performance.
Thank you so much X! I manage a bunch of small casual servers for me and my friends. Its really interesting and educational to see how someone does as such on a larger scale and, seeing the similarities such as trimming down the unused chunks. :]
Very well explained. And very neat! Looking forward to the coming episodes
This is gonna be awesome! I've wondered about the behind the curtains stuff for a while now 👍🔥
Absolutely love this! Can't wait for the rest :D
I really enjoyed this. Chock full of information. Will definitely continue to stay tuned.
Awesome, thanks for putting together this pack! I’ve always liked how even with these mods the experience still is about as vanilla as it gets
Can't wait for the next two videos. I really enjoyed this informative format.
