Minihud actually has shulker box preview in built in the way that you like it X. It’s not as customizable but it looks like you don’t need that customization anyway ^^ I also use item scroller from masa, very handy for moving items between containers e.g scrolling over an item to get small amounts of it instead of needing to pick it up. I've tested it after seeing it in ilmango's video. It's amazing, but also still in alpha versions and requires a lot of tweaking from the developers. It made my game crash a few times while walking through one specific nether portal for some reason, the nether roof looks weird from above and the closest out-of-render distance chunks often go completely black. I've noticed in recent videos that ilmango has stopped using it, as well. But that doesn't change anything about it being an absolutely game changing mod that I'm sure I'll get back to in a few updates that deal with these glitches.

WorldEdit is an amazing tool, but lately I've taken to using mostly structure blocks, because of the ability to "nest" them, and also, while building, they stay in the world and show the borders visually, reminding you of where each goes and which ones relate to which saved structures. Just a little more visual than WE on its own. Combined with Litematica, structure blocks are a lot more useful than the playerbase gives them credit for. You can also use CarpetMod to increase the potential size of structures saved, though I would recommend caution when "pasting" any structures with a lot of stained glass/panes in them, as that causes issues. (these issues are due to the vanilla rendering of stained glass, not the mod itself)

I’ve tried a lot of the mods X showcased before and they’re all very, very good. I thought I’d suggest some mods that are in line with the ones he recommended! Tweakeroo is a mod made by the same person behind litematica and minihud that’s equally useful. It has neat commands like fake sneaking (you can walk and sprint, but don’t walk off blocks), normal speed on slime blocks, pick block for appropriate tools, a built in auto clicker (and auto 1.9 sword swiper), and even a free cam! Along with many, many other things. Appleskin is also very nice, it shows how full your saturation bar is and shows how much eating will fill the saturation, health, and hunger bar when holding food. And a texture pack I highly recommend is Stay True. It adds variation to a lot of blocks (stone types, ores, bricks, flowers, etc.), makes blocks next to each other connect with one another (dirt pixels on adjacent non-dirt blocks, bricks lay into other types of brick, grass will bleed into other blocks. Hard to describe if you haven’t seen it, but its’s fairly similar to Continuity, if you’re familiar with that) and generally makes most blocks look much more pretty. Crops flower when fully aged, grass is a little more vibrant (but not too saturated that it’s ugly), melon blocks look less like puke, and so, so many more changes that all manage to stay true (ha) to Minecraft, while also making it impossible to go back. Cannot recommend enough. Also, if you’d like to use shaders now that you have so many performance enhancing mods, download Iris! It makes shaders compatible with sodium as they are with optifine. Thanks for the recommendations, X! I’ll definitely be checking out inventory tabs and camera utils when I get the chance!

I highly highly highly suggest you use distant horizons, the LOD mod that not only improves performance, but allows render distances of up to 256 chunks. I know it sounds crazy but its clientside, and users chunk caching. If it has access to the seed it can pregenerate the LOD based on the seed. It's really good and would really show off how big hermitcraft really is when you can see all the builds in the distance

One of the issues with current shulker tooltips is that you still need to hover over them all until you find what you want. Other amazing quality-of-life mods that I use: - Tweakeroo: from the creator of Litematica - an extremely powerful mod that adds a ton of different tweaks, but also has autoclicker and a bunch of features to help with large-scale builds, perfect with Litematica - ClientCommands by Earthcomputer - helps me with finding specific items in chest monsters - Carpet mod by Gnembon - has a lot of features, but I use it for testing redstone builds by speeding it up or counting outputs of farms - Item Scroller: also by Masa, the creator of Litematica and Tweakeroo - extremely useful for mass crafting, so great for large projects or stocking shops - Distant horizons - allows you to see far behind the server render distance without sacrificing much performance; saves very low quality copies of chunks and loads them; in alpha: a little glitchy but still game-changing - Sound Physics Remastered - adds physics to MC sounds and just makes everything, including players with the simple voice chat, sound much more realistic

Now this mod is more on the Forge side, I don’t know if there is a Fabric port yet, but I really like Dynamic Surroundings. It brings new sounds to the game and overall makes the game much more enjoyable with ambient sounds, sound effects (reverb in closed spaces for example) and small visual effects. It’s great, but like I said I think it’s only on Forge (and it’s a little bit outdated, it runs on 1.16)

I already use several, but there’s a few I’ll have to check out now. Mini Hud also has a shulker box preview option. Probably less dynamic, but frees up using shulker box tooltips. I’ve been using inventory profiles next a lot, and for sorting it’s super helpful. It also is amazing for building as it saves you stopping to refill your hotbar. Everything is configurable if something seems cheaty. Best of all, I can give it a custom rule list and it will (at the press of a button) sort my inventory to that specification. I’m going to skip listing the mods ant venom went through recently, but a couple others I use: Iris Shaders, Indium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling (very useful to go along with Sodium’s basic Entity Culling)… (actually this entire paragraph is basically more Sodium support mods) Some server side mods I use on my server: Carpet, Carpet Extra, Essential Addons, Essential Client (client), Carpet Fixes, Minitweaks, Blanket (client). There’s so many bug fixes and slight tweaks that can be done that’s amazing, even disregarding the core uses that are for creative testing (which I don’t use on my server). I’d like to finish by adding Apple Skin (client usable w/o being on server, more accurate if also on server, not required for clients joining server if on server), Horse Stats Vanilla

  • @jorvp

Well lithium and sodium do not change at all how the vanilla minecraft works, it just makes it better. However starlight completely changes how the vanilla engine works, making it more modded. That's one of the reasons. Second reason is because it breaks light suppression, but I doubt xisuma will ever use this. So to resume: Yes, starlight is a lot better. I highly recommend swapping fabric for quilt, since 90% of all the fabric mods work on quilt, and quilt is more performant and has less toxic devs and stuff. Many mod devs are swapping to quilt exclusive rather than fabric. A few mods I suggest -3D skin layers. This mod just makes skin layers 3D making them look really neat. -Starlight. This mod is like sodium, it just improves performance, especially with lighting. -third person animations. This mod just adds some more 3rd person animations for things like holding torches out, looking at maps, everything. -Bobby, Bobby let's you have a render distance higher than the server, letting you see your already loaded chunks. It's pretty cool. -Continuity, basically makes block merging SO cool. It is very vanilla looking. You just need to look at the images for it on its web page, it's so cool. -Illuminations, this is up to you. But it's kinda pretty. It's entirely cosmetic and adds some nice particles like little fireflies at night, souls flying around soul sand valleys, etc. -Falling Leaves, similar to illumination, just adds some occasional leaf particles that fall from leaves. Very customizable, and just a nice Lil addition.

everyone seems to recommend Starlight without explaining the risks involved in using it. Starlight is still listed as beta/experimental and isn't completely stable, secondly it makes massive sweeping changes to large parts of the codebase which as a result means it's far less compatible with other mods. While it is more performant blanket statements saying "everyone should use X over Y" should at least make sure people are informed of the risks. If starlight is the only mod you use or you're not using many mods and have carefully determined them to be compatible then sure, in all other cases Phosphor is safer because it maintains very high mod compatibility and is very stable, even though it's performance gains as less than Starlight.
