You know you could put a door in your skirting, like people do with their mobile homes, so you can still utilize under the trailer for storage.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Your skirting will help to keep you warmer on the terribly cold days ahead. To me that makes your skirting a work of art. So happy to see the teamwork between you two. It helps make the work load lighter. Blessings and best wishes.

If it goes below freezing in your area -you might want to use heat tape to wrap the pipes and then wrap insulation over top of the tape which is wound around the pipes.

Having lived in a trailer for a few years when we skirted we left one end so it could hinge open for storage and we put heat lamps underneath near plumbing that we could plug in during hard freezes. Worked for years. Love ❤️

Glad you kids will be warm for winter. Who cares what it looks like at least you'll be warm. It actually doesn't look so bad. Wow the door for the tanks looks really good. Kyle do not paint it. If it screws it up then you have to buy all new material and redo the entire things. Sometimes leaving well enough alone is the best.

Thanks for sharing a method for doing this to a camper. I am sure it will help some folks. Also, a much better way than hay bales that will allow mice and other critters to take up residence. WATER PIPES AND INSULATION TIPS: Let your faucets drip overnight and leave any cabinet doors that have water pipes open at night(and daytime also if below freezing outside). You might want to leave bathroom door open when super cold out. Parking your vehicless around the camper on the north side as a wind break may help. You might want to check your upper cabinets, closets, bench seats and under your bed for any way to Insulate those areas. Maybe use your clothes, extra blankets or bed clothes as a way to Insulate those areas a bit. Typically lined blackout curtains are heavy duty curtains(you may have to do your own modification to make them fit the camper windows. Lastly, Reflectix Insulation is a great option for making temporary, reusable, on/off windows and door coverings for night-time and alsi great for using on indoor water pipes (save them for summer too) Stay warm y'all!!!

Then you wouldn’t have to worry about moving stuff back-and-forth crammed into a little space. Plus, it might come in handy in the future for some other use.

While I will not say skirting is good. My experience has been you do not absolutely have to have it. I have lived in my camper for over 5 years in the mountains of NewMexico. Never have I skirted my camper. What I found more important than any thing was to get an rv rated heated water hose. I watch people here try the heat tape trick and then have so many problems with it. My water only freezes when it gets below 20. When it gets below that I turn on my facets to drip and all is good. Your 20 gallon tanks of propane will be the other problem. Get something larger. Maybe 100. That is what I use. They last about 2 weeks in my climate. That is why I have 2. One runs out and you have a few days to get the other refilled. With snow a foot deep or worse at times this has worked for me. Then some of the reflective material for the windows and you should be good. Anyway everyone has their own method. Good luck in your venture.

Back in the day when you could still get incandescent bulbs, we used to hang a 40 watt trouble light under where the bathroom was and another under where the kitchen was. This kept the floors and tanks warm. Nowadays they have a heat mat for the tanks that you can plug in to suppliment the heat tape. You might want to be wrapping your gray and black water plumbing... nothing worse than a winter black tank freeze up, only to find it thawing in the spring and spewing under you. (Shudder, voice of experience) Love and blessings you guys! As a fellow perfectionist and tending to over engineering my solutions, gotta say you are on the right track!

You can also get hay bales and put them around your trailer and then use the straw or hay for bedding later on for the goats, pigs, chickens etc. or bag the leaves around the property and stack the bags up around the trailer and it is free except for the bags! Pool noodles for your water lines and sewage lines( they can freeze, too!) Bubble wrap on the windows indoors, too. Good luck and God Bless!

My husband and I just insulated the back wall and ceiling of the front storage area with the roll out foil insulation to stop the air flow coming under our bed. Also insulated the slide out closet to stop the condensation forming. Helped immensely! We have the extreme polar package on our travel trailer but the area in the pass thru storage compartment was letting cold air in around the water pump. We also used the same reflective tape. You should consider having the propane company deliver a 100lb tank to save on constantly filling your tanks all winter.

Don't forget about the mylar bubbles. You can get it at the lumber store in the roofing insulation. Cut it to fit the windows. Put duck tape on the corners. Poke a hole in the corners and hang them with command hooks. Stay warm. Just my 2 cents.

Leave your faucets dripping and doors open under the sink to add a little more protection. So glad you got it skirted! You will always need storage for the blower, weedeater, hammers, saws ect...why not reach out to a local storage shed company and see if you could get one and do a sponsorship with them.

Hmmm I wonder if you could put that foam on the ground to get the temp up underneath there? KIDDING! It looks great, y'all did a heck of a job cutting in all those ins and outs. If you paint it, maybe use black to absorb the sunshine. This is SO exciting! It's really coming together.
