    Dear Dr. Idriss, the sincere recommendation you gave for using Loreal Revitalift, 10 % Glycolic Acid for rejuvenating facial skin is working beautifully. I really appreciate your sage advise because you have helped this 67 year old man immeasurably. Yes, I am a science nerd who gladly listens to you every week. Thanks Dr. Idriss, you're a wonder.

    Maybe see if "advanced clinicals" 10% glycolic acid is available. It also contains a small amount of salicylic acid. I mixed it with grapeseed oil the first few times I used it until my skin got used to it. I use about 3 nights a week. Use spf.

    Me too! Shereene is the only Dermatologist I love watching and I really appreciate her straight forward approach to giving skincare advice. No messing about or false claims. I also love her sense of humour 😃. I used to get sucked into buying too many products, but now I’ve reduced my routine to the essentials only and my skin has improved. Previously I suffered from a lot of inflammation and flaking skin. Now my skin is soft, clear and bright. I still have a few fine lines and wrinkles under my eyes by at age 55 I think it’s okay to love yourself, wrinkles included. Happiness and self acceptance are more important. Be kind to yourself. ☺️💛

    It's counterintuitive to me because I don't fully understand the science of something that is supposed to lock in moisture but it also dries? I have learned you have to put some sort of liquid down first. Right? and then the HA traps the moisture?

  • @sammyranyx6710

    @sammyranyx6710

    Ай бұрын

    It doesn’t really “lock in” moisture, it attracts moisture to itself. So if there is more moisture in the air than your skin, it will pull water to your face, but when the air is dry it can pull water from the deep tissue in your face. Same goes for all humectants. To really “trap in” moisture you need an occlusive (like an oil or wax) on top of something hydrating.

    I enjoy using Toners, ones with gentle botanicals in [not harsh astringents] The water in my area is so hard, I feel like there's Limescale deposits left on my skin after Cleansing! 😂 I like giving a sweep of toner just to dampen and prep the skin ready for the absorbtion of serums, but it's certainly just my personal preference. It does seem a bit pointless to have any actives etc in such a watery products yknow?

    agree! exfoliating toners are a great way to deliver exfoliants in my opinion. also quite like some of the toners that deliver antioxidants or ingredients that reduce redness. at its simplest, a toner is just a delivery method for ingredients. it is a little sad that toners seem to get a bad rap with how many useless ones are out there though.

    I loved the fact that you opened our eyes about all these unnecessary beauty products that are out in the market. I actually have used them all but it actually because it sparked my curiosity about these new products. I like to use them every once in awhile like face masks and face rollers when I get together with my girlfriends and have a night of pampering. I always seek the help of a professional in anything because I am a professional as well. All these blogger/influencer claims is blinding us from the truths/facts.

    If you have health insurance and can afford the copay, I found one visit to a dermatologist was worth it because she analyzed my skin and recommended the exact products I needed- all drugstore brands. My acne routine is less than $40. I’ve saved money from all the money wasted from trial and error and using the wrong products for me specifically.

    There's certainly a difference between an astringent and a toner. I enjoy using Toners which are gentle and botanical to prime my skin before serums. The water is just so hard in my area it just feels like my face is smothered in Limescale deposits if I don't use a toner first! Lol

    I love your content! Just found you recently and you have jumped to the front of the line as my favorite Derm on youtube. I love your vibe, humor and how straight to the point you are while still giving detailed info on skincare and products.Anyway I thought a toner could be anything for skin that is a watery consistency. Used directly after washing the face but before serums and moisturizers. Am I wrong? Yes many seem useless like witch hazel in my opinion but you can also get some really nice ones like the new cereve hydration one I heard is super hydrating and nourishing with good things like ceramides and niacinamide. I have also seen brightening toners for hyperpigmentation that have amazing ingredients like licorice root, Arbutin, niacinamide, etc and I recently bought the BYOMA balancing face mist (helps with skin barrier) with probiotics allantoin and ceramides, even though it’s a mist I put it in a toner category too since it is a watery liquid. I like these kinds of toners if they are in fact toners at all, because I can only layer a few serums and creams before my skin stops absorbing the products but when I use a watery consistency packed with a lot of good ingredients, I feel like I can get an extra layer or two on my face before it all starts sliding around because my skin usually sucks up the watery stuff great and than I move on to the serum and than moisturizer. Am I just wasting my time, should I cut those types of toners out? Oh yeah and many 2% salicylic acid toners out there too. I use the peach slices acne exfoliating toner and it’s cheap and gentle and has a very short ingredient list but packed with sooo many great ingredients like arginine,lactic acid,glycolic acid,allantoin,cucumber water,glycerin, and centella asiatica. It’s labeled as a toner and has done wonders for my skin. I also wanted to ask what you think about probiotics and probiotics for your skin? Also I heard there is research that melontonin in skincare has amazing benefits and that it will be in many products soon. Is it just the new “ha” and too good to be true or does it indeed have promising benefits? If you already made any videos on either of my questions than I apologize and I’m on the middle of catching up on your videos. Thanks again
