    Thanks for sharing the video Zach. I learn a lot from you and I understand why you do the things you do. Keep doing what you are doing. Yes sir steel double bars get heavy quick. I've helped carry them a few times. For a young pair they do great. They are so willing to try for you. They trust you and they love you. If you don't have that they won't do much for you. God Bless you.

    Yessir brother you are right. There is a whole lot more to it than what meets the eye for sure. A lot of time gets put into a team to get them where these ladies are. And we learn every time we go to the woods for sure. The wagon has helped my mules a lot in a lot of ways. Thanks for such kind words my friend and for always watching! Take care buddy, and do come again. Please!

    I like the way your mules work - they generally act like an extension of your brain and seem to think along. Occasionally they have a slightly different idea, but I would say that's normal, sometimes we disagree with ourselves, too.

    Mr. Odom I watched this video knowing that if I don't understand something, or why you work these jobs and your mules the way you do I'll watch it again and again. The answers to my questions are right there in the video and you will explain it to me if I ask. Something else I know is that you are alone in those woods working hard to put groceries on the table. You know your mules and your gear as well as the equipment and knowledge it takes to get it done safely for you and your mules. I don't think I've ever seen or heard you do anything to harm Kate or Alice, that's not what you're about!! Great videos and thank for showing me how you make it all work for you and your family and your Mules.

    People who have never logged don’t realize the thinking as well the use of equipment it takes

  • @zachodom7486

    @zachodom7486

    3 ай бұрын

    That’s true. Some are a little different with logging animals..compared to regular farm animals. You have to adjust things a little at times. Some equipment is a tad different. Usually good logging horses or mules will make good farm horses or mules, but not all farm horses or mules will make good logging horses or mules. If that makes sense…

  • @bendugas8632

    Now what I'm going to ask is to keep in mind that I only know machinery logging, would it be more efficient to pull with 1 mule while having the second mule at the cart to load the log, it would be switching chains I think. This video is very informative and interesting thanks.

  • @zachodom7486

    @zachodom7486

    3 ай бұрын

    You could do it that way if you wanted too. I’m not sure on faster, because you would still have to make each move as the teamster. In this case, I was coming out of this creek bottom going uphill with these logs. So two made it a little easier on them. There are times we will leave one mule on the tongue, and skid and load with the other. And swap em out every other load. That works pretty well too. There is a lot of different ways of doing and being successful I guess ya could say. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend. I appreciate the question and different perspective. Thx and take care!!

    I noticed you called the log roller a peavey because you are using it in the woods but as best I recall it is called a cant hook if it used at the sawmill and a peavey if being used in the woods is that correct.

  • @zachodom7486

    @zachodom7486

    3 ай бұрын

    Howdy Mr Lester. Ok, so a cant hook and peavey are similar but have a slight difference. A cant hook is blunt on the end and has a hook on it to roll logs or cants with. A peavey has a sharp point on the end of it to stab into the ground and pry with and/or stick it in between logs to pry em loose on a load etc. So yessir they’re pretty close to the same thing other than the tip of it. Hope this helps and thanks a bunch for watching and commenting! Take care my friend and do come again, please.
