Wow Tim! What a huge and varied place is Skegness! All those arcades and rides asleep for winter but I can imagine them all active and bright filled with laughter and screams. So many places to see and I love the quiet. Such a magnificent day - unreal for winter. Of course you went to that amazing Fish and Chips (Trawlers) so now I am craving some! I hope you went back and enjoyed some! Glad there was ONE Christmas tree or I might have forgotten it is next week! You should make a video anthology and sell it - Christmas collection, tours etc. You are so pleasant to listen to and so very interesting. Like walking with a very best friend. Thanks for another uplifting pleasant trip to yet another amazing place there. Hope Santa really rewards you big time this year! HO HO HO!

Great video Tim, If memory serves me right, the old kiosk used to where you paid for the firework display which used to be an attraction back in the summer time in the 70/80s.

We used to stay in Scarborough House Hotel on South Parade back in the 80s and we always got a great view of the fireworks from the balcony!

Love watching skegness

I remember going to Brighton on boxing day when i was 11, loved it, telling everyone i had been to the seaside in December.

Winters on the East coast are so much better than on the West where i live where it rains all winter and is mild and muddy and the sun barely shines. lovely.

Another great video going on Sunday for a walk around with my family only live 40 mins away love it when it's not so busy

Excellent video of our Town, for locals this is the best time (although we love holidaymakers....lol) it's nice to get about without the crowds. As long as you wrap up well you can have a good walk on the seafront and see stuff that's normally opened as you've highlighted. The pronunciation for Ingoldmells is "Ingo-mells" although it's sometimes known round these parts as Jingle Bells....... I'm unsure as to the demolition of the place you found, I'll have to keep an eye on that in the coming months as my Wife and I love having the odd meal and coffee there sometimes. Quick tip next time you go to the Park, take a bit of bread or bird seed to feed the hungry ducks, pigeons and Sea Gulls in there LoL. Thanks again, been a pleasure watching this video..... hope you do more soon, try Jingle Bells sometime, it's more like a proper ghost town in Winter :)

skegness is certainly looking better now than it has when I was kid. those huts have seen better days and i'd say the decking they are on is due to be removed considering how old that decking is.

t's funny seeing places one was at just a year ago. At the Trawlers Catch I had a great fish and chips, that bench where you said "to come and sit down..." was a great spot for me too! I loved Skegness!

The kiosk was the paybox from when the council ran fireworks each Weds eve (thus designed for staying visitors). The fireworks were over the boating lake on the island linked by the bridge and the tiered concrete on the other side of the lake (West)was where the crowds were . The lake was used for motorboats by day.

The council used to get the Fire Brigade to empty the boating lake out at the end of each season, clean it, then fill it again for the start of the next season. But due to penny pinching, they don't do it anymore. Which is why they don't want you feeding the ducks and geese. Before the sea washed the pier away in 1978, my family used to go to the theatre that was on the end of the pier. The boards had a gap between them which you could see through, and it wasn't far out before you were walking above the sea, which was quite disconcerting for a young boy! There are plans for the pier to be rebuilt by its new owners, but as with all the other plans for Skegness, I will believe it when I see it, they have been talking about a bypass to go straight to Ingoldmells for more than 60 years! (BTW, we pronounce it Ingamells, or Ingomells, we don't pronounce the L or the D). You picked a nice day to come, haven't seen many bright days this winter, generally overcast or raining, the daytime temp today was 2 degrees Centigrade!

Hi Tim, great video. From the 20th december through to the new year i assume there's a few amusements open, with the pier being one of them?

It’s very nice and quiet there. I hope that those buildings don’t get demolished as they look nice. Great Yarmouth have got rid of some of the litter bins in Regent Road I like which annoys me hopefully most of the cast iron litter bins will remain. I think it’s the little things which make a place I think.
